Calling all SouthWest Experts, Need Info...

I have our tickets leaving on Aug. 23-Sept 2nd. We were leaving on the first flight out, but my DH decided to leave with us on departure day, so we had to change our flight to the 11:20am flight because of work schedule. I know it's only a few hours but it's Disney and a few hours means a lot
So we want to change our coming home flight from the 2:25 flight to the 7:40 flight to make up losing half a day on arrival day, it is the last flight out.

So my question, we paid $115 to leave at 2:25, but to leave at 7:40 is $163 from all the experts, do you think we have a chance that the flight price will drop at all? I check everyday, a few times a day and nothing yet Should I hold on to hope that we can get that flight a little cheaper.

I'm flying almost the exact same period...Aug 23-Sept 3. I've been stalking the flights for about 7-8 weeks. We always travel at this time and I always end up buying my flights in mid June as that is when they are the lowest. Well, this year was pretty much the same except the fares have been a lot higher than in the past and I only booked at the end of last week. I think that you should grab the best flight you can now as prices, I doubt, will get any better. Besides if you want a certain time of day sometimes you just have to pay for it.

I was really lucky and got in on the $80 fares but my dates didn't show up until the last day of the sale. Approx 1 hour after I booked the fare was up from $80 to $229 and that's where it has been ever since.

I was able to get credit for our flight going when they had the $80 sale, but it never showed up for Friday. I am mad that I didn't try to convince my husband to stay the extra day and switch our Friday flight for the $80 flight on Saturday. I switched our time for him Tuesday, he should have agreed to switch our day from Friday to Saturday but he has to be back to work Saturday night. I am going to talk to the rest of our party and see if they want to put in the difference and take the last flight home. I hate the idea of leaving and not going to a park that day. It will be a first for us. I'm sure ME will be picking us up by noon if not earlier.

I checked the prices about 4 times a day during that sale. The last morning I nearly didn't do it....turned out I had some time to kill before starting work and I sat down with the laptop. Well, I guess my fingers had a mind of their own....I went straight to the SW site and low and behold there was the $80 fare for the mid day non stop no less. I called my DH to confirm that he had officially booked the time off and in that 10-15 minutes that I was on the phone with him the mid day flight was back at regular price and the early morning non stop was available for the $80...so I grabbed that really fast. It only makes a 3 hour difference in my case but it means that I have to be out for the DME at 6am ....I'm sooooo not a morning person. On the plus side it gives me plenty of time to do some shopping after our flight arrives in BUF....I like to get groceries before heading home.

That sale was a short one, but really, really good. I keep my home page on SWA and always just click on the dates I'm going. Every once in a while, I hit it on a sale period out of the blue.

I think there will be another sale for the Sept timeframe simply because they may not have full planes yet and will dip the price again to get them filled. Sometimes they fill the planes thru sales in their Vacation sales which includes hotel and plane. If that happens, then they have no need of dropping the price.
