Calling all southerners!

unsweet tea, and they might not have it!! :)

Not that I've worked in too many restaurants (and, of course, I'm farther south...), but the ones I did work in always started the day off brewing three urns of tea. Two sweet, one unsweet. We always had to brew more sweet, but the majority of the unsweet was dumped out at the end of the day every day. So...it SHOULD be there...but order it early in the day, as it may have been sitting for a few hours where the sweet will be fresh...

I like the tea the way I make it and am going to continue to do it as the recipe taught me. You like your tea your way, and I'm not offended if you don't do it my way. :goodvibes

I don't think anyone's offended. Personally, I even did a double-take. It's not a typical ingredient in most people's tea. Kind of like hearing people talk about putting cocoa powder in chili. Or...my favorite made-from-scratch brownie recipe that includes a healthy does of cayenne pepper. (Absolutely awesome, rich chocolate brownies that bite back!) We're just looking at it going...really? You do that? Huh... :thumbsup2

I'm a Disney newbie, planning a trip in January. Can't believe we're going to spend so much $$$ going to a place that won't have sweet tea or Dr. Pepper!!!

and no Cheerwine or Sun Drop either!

I've lived in Texas most of my life and I'm feeling that Texas isn't the South. I've never had sweet tea! I occasionally order iced tea in restaurants but I've never added sugar. That would ruin the taste of the tea!:lmao: The only place I can think of in Fort Worth that offers sweet tea is Chick-Fil-A.

I grew up in College Station and have lived in the metroplex for the past 9 years. I get sweet tea all over this area. There are many places besides Chick-Fil-a

Chicken Express has fab sweet tea - we buy it by the gallon, Mcdonalds has decent in a pinch sweet tea, Sonic has good sweet tea & you can buy gallons of sweet tea at Walmart, Albertson's, Tom Thumb & Aldi

Tried the baking soda. Made no difference. Have called all the Louisiana (my true home state) and Mississippi relatives I know. Nobody has ever heard of this.
Everyone is different. Doesn't mean your right Doesn't mean your wrong. Makes a big difference to my tastebuds as far as bitterness goes on the palate. Google "baking soda in sweet tea" you may be surprised.:)

If you have to put something into sweet tea to counteract bitterness then you're doing something wrong. Related to the OP, Universal has real sweet tea in a lot of places. Easy to find.:)

Yes, that's where I went to college :thumbsup2

LOL!! That's where my mom went, and half of my graduating class from highschool hehe ;) I went to Youngstown, but when I was a kid, I wanted to go to SRU because of their amazing dining hall.....I was 10...food mattered ;)

Trails End Buffet has Sweet Tea. Anyone try it? Wish they would open a Bojangles closer to Disney and our house. The nearest one is about 25 miles NE near the UCF Campus on 50. Sweet Tea and a Cajun Chicken Biscuit.Road Trip in the AM ;)
