I got my 4.09 done wearing my RnR Dallas shirt. Posted about it in my blog too (siggie link!) if you want to read my thoughts.

Ohana!

Thanks, I just might have to give the beans and block chews a try. I will just need to hide them really good from my kids. They don't need anymore energy.

I'm looking for some fuel/hydration tips from experienced runners. Right now, I'm run/walking about 3 miles. Before my run I have a banana and coffee and I drink about 20 oz. of water during the run. I have a glass of Powerade and my full breakfast after.

I'm wondering at what point I need to be fueling during my run with chews, etc.? And if anyone has any recommendations for what they prefer for fuel? I don't think I'd like the Gu gel, but I'm not sure what other kind to try.

Any tips are appreciated!

Also, my heart is heavy today for all of those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. It's not my day to run, but I'm so glad to see everyone standing in solidarity and doing their 4.09.

It is a game of trial and error for each person, but my fave so far is the Vfuel gel and I take it every 3 miles on my long runs... the Gu peanut butter is really tasty but unfortunately causes me GI stress. Hope this helps :0)

As stated fueling is very personal. Watch out with how much water you take in though that can lead to hyponuetramia.

I worry about that, because I drink tons of water even when I am not running.

You have plenty of time in the upcoming months to see what works for you. Stick with a good plan and you 'll have lots of long runs to experiment with. I thought I would like the gu chomps but found they didn't work for me. I actually do better with the gels and my water needs vary depending on the temperature.

I'm far from what I would describe as a seasoned runner, but in the past 8 months (& 3 - 1/2M) I've learned a lot about what works for me. Enjoy your training. It will sort out most of your questions.

I am earning my glass slipper in 2014! I just learned of this princess run and I habe been slowly training for 3 weeks. Prior to this I havent ran since high school field hockey which was 11 years ago. I hit 5 miles yesterday and hope by june I can be at 13 miles if not longer. I am running on my own byt I have 2 amazung cheerleaders. My 8 year old son and my boyfriend. He just surprised my with a run disney training shirt and I am very proud to wear it :). Does anyone know of any early registration? I heard rumors and I will be crushed if I miss the d deadline

I just signed up for a 10k this weekend (I got lucky and found a race the same distance as my planned long run distance). The race organizers have requested everyone but one category of runners to wear the provided race shirt, but I'm hoping to be able to get something for Boston on it.

On another note, has anyone here run around DL? I have a seven mile run planned during our vacation (I leave next WEEK!! :yay: ), and beyond just google mapping something close to our hotel, are there any good places to run in Anaheim? (I mean... obviously there are, or there wouldn't be Disney races :P)

The area beyond Disneyland is not the best - I've just done the DL half and the area seems light industrial in some places. Maybe someone more familiar can comment. Try using MapMyRun.com to create a course. Also, look at the courses for the Tinkerbell and the DL Half (look at RunDisney.com & look at Events to find the courses.) Both races go thru the parks - but you can get an idea of streets around the area. Have a great trip!

In the past there has not been early registration. At least not in past 3 years that I've run.

That being said- this race typically takes months to sell out.

But--- that said (lol) there are rumors of PHM adding something to the weekend. Possibly a 10k. I even heard possibly a full. But I'm guessing it will be a 10k Saturday.

If they add a distance, then yes, the demand will be greater. If there's early registration it will be offered to ap holders, Dvc members, or Disney visa members. That's the typical early registration types

Personally, I think a 10k is more likely in this event. I also see a princess challenge if it is added. Lastly, I believe I heard that there will be advanced registration for passholders and DVC with the Visa members a day after those two open. And it was a week before registration opens to the public. Now, this isn't guaranteed, but what I have heard and remembered. The new race and challenge is pure speculation, but would be a very welcoming addition as I would totally do the challenge, that gives me two costumes to do.:thumbsup2

I'm no where near an experienced runner but this what works for me. The day before my run, I drink a little more then usual amount of water. During, I drink a couple oz of gatorade every 15 to 20 mins and half way through my run I take a hammer gel pack. The hammer gel apple cinnamon is the only one I have been able to stand. Most of the flavors out there are soooooo gross!!! After, a nice cold glass of low fat chocolate milk for the carbs and protein. Hope this helps.

I hope you're right about the 10k!!! Then hopefully there will be some kinda Queen Challenge princess:

I think 10K as well. A challenge would be awesome!

I just got my new shoes in today and might go out to the track later with my daughter after homework is complete for her. Then it should be cooled down some. I'm going to pick up some banana's before we come home so I can have something that will help me with my run. I hope these shoes will help with the shin splints I get when I walk and run. They came highly recommended. :)

Ooh, Our APs expired in Dec. I am trying to get my dh to agree to a trip up to WDW in May. Now I have a good reason to get new APs, we will need them to register for the PMH early.

As I said before, that is what I've heard. Nothing is set in stone and things can always change, especially if the demand is extremely high.

I tried the jellybelly sports beans and liked them ok, but I really love the Honey Stinger gummies. They are moist and I can easily take them without water. I usually take them if I'm running more than six miles, starting around mile two. Fueling before, during and after a run is such a personal thing, my best advice is to just try different things on your training runs until you find the right fit for you.

What a great gift, how thoughtful! Just keep an eye out on this board and the rundisney website for registration info. I like to put the registration opening official date on my work calendar as an appointment (regular registration usually opens at noon EST) so that even if I don't get to early register, I won't accidentally get too busy and forget the date.

I think it would be awesome and based on what they're doing with the DL and WDW weekends, I'd bet that they'll add a 15k to Princess weekend too. I am at least two years away from attempting Goofy or Dopey, but I think I could swing a 10k and 1/2 marathon combo challenge.

Good luck with the new shoes! I usually hate my first couple of runs in new shoes, but by the third run mine feel great.

I've got a small local 5k this weekend that I'm really excited about. I've been working really hard since Princess to get faster at the 5k distance, so I'm hoping to finish under 30 minutes (which is fast for me!) on Saturday. My next half is Wine & Dine in November, so I'll have to get started on the distance training for that before too long.
