Ooooh I really hope so!! The regular ones are nice but IMO kinda hard to read. 5th anniversary one was just gorgeous!! I am inclined to think they'll go back to the regular ones until the 10th anniversary, and then 10th will be special, but who knows!
Does anyone know when they released the medal design for the 2013 PHM??:scratchin

They released the 2013 medal in November.

I heard it might be a new medal altogether for 2014 - different from the first 4, but also different from this year's special 5th anniversary medal...who knows? This year's medal is so pretty though, it will be hard to top!

I plan on only having 5Ks under my belt at that time. I know I will still have 7 months to train after registration, but June is right around the corner it seems and I've only just begun.

I'm in the same boat too!! I think as long as you're super dedicated and passionate about doing the PHM, and you can see yourself happily sticking to whatever training schedule you decide on----then yes, you should totally just jump in and register, and submit a finish time later throughout the year if you want to! ::yes::

Where is everyone staying? We are staying at the Boardwalk :D

OOOOH lucky!!!! I've always wanted to stay at Boardwalk!!:lovestruc So close to everything! Have you stayed there before?
If my dad is coming on the trip (he's 70, and he wants to build up his walking endurance first because he refuses to do wheelchair at WDW!) then we'll be staying at Poly! :woohoo:
If I'm going solo, I'll be at AoA or Port Riverside. Depending on how well I can save up for the next 330 days hahaha. I'm pretty excited either way, all of these will be new resorts for me!:yay:

Question for all of you Princesses who have run the PHM before: how do I know if I'm going to be ready when the registration is in June? I plan on only having 5Ks under my belt at that time. I know I will still have 7 months to train after registration, but June is right around the corner it seems and I've only just begun. Do I just take a giant leap of faith and register? :scared1: Looking for a little knowledge and encouragement from you awesome ladies! Thanks!

I think I registered last time in November or December. The good thing about Disney is it shows you the % of how full it is so you'll know if you're getting close to needing to make a decision.

OTOH, registration commits you to the goal which can motivate you to go past the 5ks :)

You can wait a bit to register- you dont have to pull the trigger in June. Worse case, you DO pull the trigger in June and you really can't get it together to run- you can defer to another race within a calendar year. So that would be a possible option. PHM doesn't sell out right away like Tink and DL half does. So you would have months to work up a little and decide if you are ready.

Galloways training starts in September I think to give you an idea. 2-3 miles by September and you should be able to follow his plan to complete PHM in Feb. HTH!

Can you defer to a race that is full?

Thanks! It's good to know that it doesn't fill up right away. I'm looking at a 10K for the end of September which I'll start training for after the 5Ks in May. I'm hoping the training leading up to the 10K will give me a good idea of what I'm capable of.

I'm right there with you! Just really starting to get on board with getting healthy and running!

Awesome! I started healthy eating/exercising in February and started run/walking at the beginning of this month.

I'm in the same boat too!! The PHM is what motivated me to start running and get healthy. It's that push that I needed so I'm very dedicated. :)

Thanks everyone for the support!

I totally agree. Having to register so early is a bit of a leap of faith, but knowing you plunked that money down is a mighty strong motivator. I registered the first hour it was open last year and I hadn't gone further than 4 miles at that point, but had plenty of time to train up successfully. You can do it!!! :cheer2:

That's what I did lol. Last year registration opened on July 10. I started running July 1 and wasn't even able to run a mile yet. If you need to, you can always defer, but I needed that concrete goal in front of me. If I would have waited, I probably wouldn't have done it. Registering made me train because I wasn't going to back out. Granted registration should stay open for several months, last year it didn't sell out until December, so you don't have to jump immediately. I just found it more motivating to be registered.

We have not stayed at the Boardwalk before. It looks really nice :D. We decided to offer this as the delux for our wedding which happens the day after the DPH. I wanted a resort near our venues. If you're staying alone I have a room block I maybe able to offer discounted rooms as we get closer depending on how many reserve rooms.

I swear, training is such an emotional rollercoaster for me! Is it like this for anyone else? I'm going to be a nutcase by next february!

One minute I'm on cloud nine because I ran 4 miles straight for the first time and think I can run forever and the next minute I'm having a panic attack when I think about how much farther 13.1 is! :scared1:

Getting emotional is common for me. I do lots of thinking on my runs: from current events to visioning running a race to the "demons" in my life. I can be laughing, being ticked off, to balling my eyes out.

Last weekend I had a pit in my throat and tears running down my face because I was thinking about a friends daughter who is fighting to have a normal life. She is diagnosed with Chiari and last week she had more testing done.

I was like this at one point too. I'm training for my first full this summer but I'm 100% not worried about it because I've done an event much more grueling the 70.3 half iron. Just train smart, and believe in yourself. You can do this, its all mental so just breath and believe.

Is this your first half? Yeah, pretty normal, especially during the lower miles training. Even getting up to 8 and 9 miles, I would be all "Go me, look what I just did!" one minute and then remember for the race I'd still have 4-5 miles left and it didn't feel so big lol. But then I got through PHM this year and realized I can do it, so this time around, training for the two halves I have in Oct and Nov, I feel a lot more confident.

LOL I remember those days. I remember the first time I ran 6 miles it literally blew my little mind! I had struggled for years to get past 5 miles and 5 miles was a lucky day. I kinda miss those days now I feel so jaded when I am asked how many miles I ran and go an easy 10 it was a good day and people just look at me like *** you're bat poo nuts.

I say take the leap of faith!!!! If you register, you will make time to train and make it happen!

7 months is more than enough time to follow a beginner training plan if you are already running 5ks (I've googled about 100 of them looking for one that works best for me), so you should definitely go for it! :thumbsup2

I signed up for my first half (will be in september) never having run more than 4 miles...

Does anyone have any experience with team registration? I saw on the runDisney site that you could register two people as a team, but what about more than two? Anyone know? Thanks!!!

I agree, except I am doing mine walking.

Thanks! I'm thinking I will wait a little bit to register, just to see where I am in my training. Just thinking about registering is motivating for me, but I think I'd feel better about dropping the cash with a little more experience behind me. :)

I'm doing a run/walk plan. Right now, it's run 30 sec./walk 1 min. and I do that for about 2.3 miles. Next week I'm going to increase it to 3.1 so I'll be ready for a 5K in May.

hubby and I went for a 4 mile run. My time was 10 minute miles. :cool1: Here's to a 2:10 finish in May so I can get into Corral A or B. No offense but hate constantly running around walkers.
