I am clueless to Disney Dining. We are more of a budget, counter service family. I want to do the Grand Floridian Tea. When should I call and make reservations. I want to do it that Monday after the race. Thanks ladies!!

NOW! ADR's opened up at 180 days prior so you're well within that now...it's a fairly small seating area and it's only open for a few short hours I think, so it could fill up fast if you wait to long. I have the tea booked for Thursday that week too...I've done it once before and it was really lovely.

You can book the tea online. I have reservations already for Monday. A quick check of the system shows reservations still available (checked for groups of 2/4). Make sure you do the Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room.

Thanks ladies, I'm off to book now!! Can't wait to do the tea!!! I'm just as excited about the tea as I am about the race!!!

Well, hello, neighbor! I grew up in Annandale, now live in Sterling and work in Tysons. I'm running the Clarendon Day 10K in Arlington. Hmm...now I'm worried this won't give me an "official" time. Should I keep looking for another race? :worried:

Aww, you guys are making jealous! I used to live in Alexandria, near Annandale. Then in DC. I miss it often:).

As for the "official" time, the website says it needs to be a certified course to qualify for moving you up in the corrals.. I'm a newbie, so I don't know how strict Disney is about this. Hopefully some more experienced people will comment:)

Small World!! I am in the area as well....in Arlington.
I don't think it has to be an official USATF event. I am also doing the Claredon 10K and I am submitting that time. Over the summer I did the Biggest Loser 10K and I don't think that is a USATF certified event but runDisney accepted it as my official timing for Tower of Terror run. I am pretty positive that as long as it is a timed event with official race results that can be verified AND it is an even t 10K or longer, you should be fine!
Submit it either way...what's the worst they could say? :) Hope that helps!

First, welcome! :cheer2: Second, I grew up in Fairfax, so with NoVa as your location, it looks like you're close to "home!" Not sure about the USATF sanctioned/certified, but that's what I looked for when registering for a 10K just to be safe. Which one are you running? As for departure date, we're leaving on Sunday evening too (7:30pm flight) - my DH isn't interested in staying until Monday either!

Okay - took me a little digging but it looks like my race is a USTAF certified course, so I should be good. Yay!

Hey DC area ladies! Doing the MCM 10k for a time - do you think it will qualify? The runner info says what info you need but did not see part about UStAf certified. It's really the closest one in "my window".

Nevermind - it's certified - yay!

Wow - I know being from the DC area isn't that big of a coincidence, but both running in the Clarendon Day 10k?! I guess I'll see you there! The food festival afterwards is always fun. :drinking1

Ok, I'm being dramatic but I need help from my Garmin users. I have had my 305 for 2 yrs. I went to use it this morning and it wasn't charging!!! Is it gone for good already. I know I needed to upgrade but just wasn't ready just yet. Is it really gone or can I get a new battery or something. :confused3.

Ok so I am way late on this but wanted to make sure you got yourself fixed since I had the same problem on the same watch. It's the world's easiest fix. Delete your run history. That's it. Do that and your watch should run as good as new.

Of course if not, you may need to get a new battery which means sending it back to Garmin and paying like 80 bucks.

I will delete all my history as I am sure it is full. I did a reboot/reset as one of the ladies suggested and it started back charging. I am glad it did, it's my ole faithful and I'm not ready to let it go just yet!! Thanks for checking up on my watch drama:goodvibes

Hey guys! I love all of the advice on here- so supportive! I am looking forward to my first (of many hopefully) Disney race. I just wanted to pass along some info I found out about the race after (many :scared:) emails with runDisney, track shack, and active.

1) the race must be certified (the most common certifying agency is USATF but there are others). Ask the event coordinator of your race- they will tell you if it is or not.

2) being timed or chip timed does NOT mean the race is certified- it won't be accepted unless it is certified (this is how they prove a 10k is 10k not just "about" 10k.

3) you can change princesses on your bibs now and up until Dec 1- all you have to do is email runDisney.

4) the Dooneys will not be available for preorder- only available at the official Disney merchant table at the expo... for those of us who will not be at the expo on the earlier days.

Anyway, I hope some of this helps others with similar questions. Good luck to all of the Princesses in training. See y'all in Feb!

Do you happen to know what happens if you submit a non-certified time? Will they respond to let you know it wasn't acceptable (so you can hopefully find a new race), or could you have no clue your time wasn't accepted until you get to the expo and find yourself in the last corral? I'm almost afraid to ask about mine, because I don't want to be told it won't count!

I imagine if it is well enough in advance of the deadline you can just email them a few days after submission to see if "they got it" i.e. it was accepted. They have been really good about getting back to me (even on the weekend) at trackshack.

Does anyone know if it's OK to submit a time from a foreign Race?

I plan on submitting a time for a Danish race, but I have no clue if they are certified. I have never heard of that before.

I submitted a time for a Danish race in 2011. I just emailed a copy of my diploma. I thought that it was OK, but I don't know for sure since I didn't get to run in the race, and therefore have no clue as to what coral I was placed in.

The race that I submitted a time to was chipped... but I can't find anywhere that it was certified. I used this particular race to submit for the ToT (and I know based on my corral it was accepted) and for the Donald. I have not received word that it was not accepted for the Donald, but that submission deadline is Nov. 1 so I emailed trackshack. I am worried about being beyond the deadline and not realizing that my time was never accepted. I will be sure to share what they tell me.

Thanks! I have a 10K scheduled for 10/20, which would still give me a month to get another one in if it wouldn't work, but there aren't many 10Ks in this area to choose from, I'm not sure how far I'd have to go to find another one before 12/1, especially with the Thanksgiving holiday.

I am planning to do the Hot Chocolate run in Columbus on 11/17, and I hadn't decided whether to do the 5K or 15K, so that's a possibility, but the 10/20 10K will be my first at that distance, so I won't really be 15K-ready by 11/17 (but at least I know for sure that one is USATF-certified), so I'd rather use the 10K which I assume will have a better result.

Woohoo, ran my first half today! I ran the surftown half marathon in RI and finished in 2:10....several minutes faster than my goal time! I already submitted my time to improve my corral...do they usually send a response/acknowledgement?

Congratulations on your first half! Looks like you did wonderful!!! Yes, Run Disney SHOULD respond acknowledging receipt of your proof of time.
