My 10K is tomorrow! I hope the heat doesn't slow me down too much. I am a little nervous!

Just wanted to share my Dumbo Dare experience since many of us are also doing GSC! Here's the 10K report

Going back to back wasn't bad at all! And I was in the parks 2 full days prior as well. Happy training Princesses!

Ok, I'm being dramatic but I need help from my Garmin users. I have had my 305 for 2 yrs. I went to use it this morning and it wasn't charging!!! Is it gone for good already. I know I needed to upgrade but just wasn't ready just yet. Is it really gone or can I get a new battery or something. :confused3.

Sometimes mines a little finicky and I have to wriggle it around a bit to get the sensors just right and to connect correctly...though I'm guess if you've had yours for 2 yrs you might know if yours is that way...maybe worth a try though? Sorry, I don't know about replacement batteries for them.

Have you tried resetting it? Mine went completely dead and wouldn't turn on after a power surge. I did the factory reset and it was back to normal! I had to hold three of the buttons at one time, but don't remember which three. I googled it, so you can too!

Great post!! Thanks for the report!! And congratulations!

I am trying really hard to do a walk/run. Yesterday I did a mile using 30 sec intervals. First mile was a PR at 14.30. I walked the second mile at 15.36. I am working on increasing pace as well as increasing distance with a faster pace. I would also like to do the 5k at a snails pace so I don't mess up my chances of completing the half. I really want to finish it. This race is my reward for losing weight. I keep telling everyone what my motivators are. I want my fireworks. I want to run through the castle. I wnt to hear the trumpets. I want to hear the choir sing. And I want my medal! I deserve a medal for losing weight. So far I am down 26 pounds. Of course I reward myself along the way. Every 10 pounds down I get a bead for my bracelet. I am trying to get Minnie for Mickey, but these 4 pounds have been stubborn ones.
i am using the Jeff Galloway app it seems great.. and i have heard people use it during the PHM??

Hi
I only on page 6 so I have a long way to go before I have cached up with this tread.

But I want to introduce myself.

My name is Christina and I'm 34 old. I live in Denmark in Europe with my family.

I was suppose to run in the 2011 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon, but we got in a car accident on our way to Orlando so I ended up spending a week in the hospital with a very broken arm/elbow.

After returning home I could not run for almost a year. (My arm is not back to normal and probably never will) I started running again in the summer of 2012 but only for a month or so, before I discovered that I very unexpected was pregnant. I didn't thing it was possible after 5 years of fertility treatment and after a year on a waitlist to adopt.

But now I have a son who is almost 5 ½ months old, and I have started running again.

It's hard to start running again. I have a lot of extra weight after being pregnant and it's not that easy to find time to run with a baby that doesn't sleep much.

But I really want to do well in this race. It's a dream of mine to be able to run a ½ marathon and I was really close in 2011. This time I want to complete my goal. Even though my odds as far as training goes is not the best.

I hope it's ok for me to join this thread and that my English is understandably since it's not my first language.

Welcome! Wow you have had some obstacles along with joy of celebrating the birth of your son. You are strong, determined and can accomplish your goals. We have lots of time to train. I look forward to getting to know you and hearing about your training achievements.

Wow, thanks for sharing your story! I admire your determination. You might do well with the Galloway run-walk program. You have a lot going on - best wishes for your training and taking care of the baby too!

:welcome: Christina! Have you already signed up for the 2014 Princess? If so, good luck with training. There is still a lot of time to prepare.

Maura

(And your English is great, by the way.)

Yes I have signed up a while ago.

We have just booked our airfare, so we're ready to go.

Now I just need to get back in shape:scared1:

Oh my, Christina - you've been through a LOT! Congratulations on your new baby! I remember well how hard it was to work around baby's schedule. Hang in there! Compared to the challenges you've already gotten through, a half-marathon will be nothing. You can do it! :yay:

Thank you very much for this post - It almost made me cry.

I really hope that I will be able to complete this race, even though it seems like a far away dream right now.

Remember Christina "Dreams really do come true"! See you at the finish line! You'll probably get there before me!

Hi everyone,

I just signed up to run the Princess half in 2014. It will be my first half, and I'm really excited and nervous. My ultimate goal is to run the full marathon in 2015, which is right before I turn 30.

Can't wait to see what everyone one here is doing to prepare.

Alex
