I know that we attach our numbers to our shirts with safety pins. Are there bib numbers for the front and back or just the front?

When people say they are "attaching name tags to bib," how are they attaching them where it won't cover the number?

I am wearing a black shirt, I was thinking about attaching my Princess Mickeyhead (PMH), a la Stacy, with velcro. That way I won't have to adhere it to the shirt, but I think heavy duty velcro would keep it on.... Any opinions? Other ideas?

I just don't know if I am clever enough to iron on the PMH to my shirt, and if it would even show up on a black shirt. I do, however, have a LIME GREEN runners cap that I think I'm wearing (training with now, anyway).

OK. This makes me come up with another question, that might be aimed directly at Tracy (one of our expert's-in-residence;) ) Since we start at 7am, and will be done by 10-ish.... Do you think we really need something to keep the sun out of our eyes? Is there a point on the trail where the rising sun is particularly blinding? The reason for my question, is I would rather just do the race with our Princess hairband. Sunglasses would be too sweaty on my face, and I do overheat a little with the hat on my head, even though it is a wicking fabric.... Would I be too foolish not to have something for my eyes, or are the early morning hours easy enough on the eyes during a race?

Thanks, that's all I can think of for now..

WOW! This thread moves.

I was at the National Breast Cancer Marathon Expo Saturday and the Bondiband vendor was there. I bought one to try (Says "I run to eat" LOL!) and mentioned to her that I had heard about her here so she sold me a WISH one. Assuming these work for me I will have it at the race. I will be in my WISH shirt which I like.

My "long training" run was this half so I am actually taking a few days off right now. My left hamstring is NOT happy with this abuse LOL! I pushed myself harder at this race then I plan to at the Princess. I kind of "threw" the Princess in so I figure it's going to be a "stay ahead of the sweeper" pace with only a few weeks between races!

2BoysMom. You get one bibb and they want you to pin it to the front of your shirt. Personally I won't wear black since it absorbs heat so make sure that shirt's cool.

Thanks for the advice. I live in FL, so the black was a concern of mine, too. But I got a nice wicking one that fits well, and I trained in it on Sunday when I did the 10 miles. It was the first time in my training where I actually felt more comfortable (I hadn't been using wicking tops).

Besides, I'm fluffy, so I'm also going to feel less self-conscious in the black.:lovestruc

I train outside at 8:30am and there is no way I could go out and train without my sunglasses on, its just too bright.
You can get sports sunglasses that have vent holes and special grips that don't slide when you sweat.
How aboult a sun visor? that way you get some sun proction for your eyes with out the heat from your head being covered.

I don't plan on using anything for my eyes. I am planning on wearing just the WISH band on my head, there is no way i can do it with a hat or visor. My head sweats too much. And i don't have the $$ to spend on a good pair of sport glasses..

Lauren - glad to see ya girl!!! I think i will be hanging with you and DH if that is ok! ;)

Hey ladies! SIL and I did 10 miles yesterday. Each mile was between 15:37 and 16:03 (our longest), but we did not run hardly any since I am coming off of having bronchitis... It's done! Yay. I feel ok today... Legs and feet know I worked them hard yesterday and I do have a few blisters, but nothing I can't live with.

I think for the Expo, we are going around 3/4pm on Friday. We plan to do DHS that day and when we are done, we'll hop a bus over to the expo.

Also, I wanted to share w/ you guys, our new addition... Max. He's a lab/boxer mix. This is a HUGE step for me because I am not animal person and have never wanted a dog, but DH finally wore me down. He is the sweetest, cutest thing though. Adorable!!! Just wanted to share...

Stacie -- me and my dd just looked at your pup, and let out a resounding "AWWWWWWWWW" -- he is TOO CUTE!!! Remember, patience will be key with this pup!! They are alot of work in the beginning, but sooo worth it. ;)
I have 2 labs btw - a black and a yellow. :)

Congrats on getting the 10 miler done!!! I got blisters too, although i was stupid and wore brand new sneakers.. LOL So, i am nursing them with bandaids, and did 2 mi. today, slow, to break in the new shoes.. Hoping the blisters heal (and i don't get more) by Sat. when i am on tap to do 8 mi.

Stacie oh my goodness Max is so so cute. That is a big step but looks like a wonderful step to have taken as i think you've fallen in love with him already! Good job on the 10 miler

I plan on sunscreen, no visor, but I'm almost finished with my hair bow which I will be wearing. I had to buy the whole spool and so I'm thinking about making more hair bows. The ribbon is so cute it is pink with Princess written on it and between the words are either a lime green butterfly or a tiara. At my age I don't wear hair bow EXCEPT when in costume for a race. Here's a not very good photo

Hope it works-this hair bow was from the Minnie, I'm making a new one and maybe their is a little girl you know that might want one. I attach them to a hair clip.

Walmart optical had some really nice sports sunglasses for $30.

Hi All!

Ok - I didn't make notes, so here are some responses off the top of my head:

Max is SO cute....we have a golden and black lab and they are such joys!

RE: sunglasses - my eyes are sensitive to sunlight and I always wear regular sunglasses when I "race" (I use that term lightly - I don't think my pace actually qualifies as racing). I'll also be wearing my WISH visor. Florida sun can be fierce and very, very little of the course is in shade.

I spoke directly to Disney Reservations today (not Disney Sports) and confirmed that there is not EMH evening hours at MGM the night of the Princess party - we will have the park to ourselves!

It is really getting close now!!

The Princess is now 98% and 5k 95%!!!!!
I think it will reach capacity.

Could that be because they changed "capacity" Robert on DisneyRunning.com has the corral placements and says they have divided the 7,500 of us evenly... Capacity was originally 10,000... Hmmm....:lmao: Wouldn't put it past Disney!

That puts me in the last corral!!!! Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with being in the last corral, its just that the speeds I go (excep up hill) it would be dengerous to all the others on the course.
I have been trying to contact Disney Sports today, but never got through, I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Ok front page list should be updated.. if you are missing, please PM me!

And here are the requests i have had for nametags - again, if you would like one, or need it changed, please PM me. :)

Thank you they turned out great

We want to be there as soon as we can on Friday as well. If I understand correctly, we need to go to DHS and then transfer to a WWOS bus there? Is that correct?

If its like EEC the buses run from the host resorts also to the expo

How cute, he will become your shadow and constant companion at home

I thought they generally put the chairs in the very front....

YOu can always get it worked out at the expo.

I havenever been "corralled" what exactly are they like? Anyone have pics? Probably when I signed up I said I would be happy to limp in at the 3 1/2 hour mark--so, that will determine placement? My bib # starts with 45, but my friend starts with 51...unlikely we will be in same corral?

Clothing...I am wearing what I usually wear. I'll bring my capris and my shorts and decide. Also, a LS and SS ***r*. Nothing fancy, just will decide based on the weather. Both shirts are pink, but nothing with WISH or Princess or the like. Will have the WISh bondiband. I have a pair of Oakley's and a pair of Maui Jim's--will definately wear one or the other. Probably not my UA baseball style cap since I am hoping it won't be all that sunny by the time I am done. :confused3

:rotfl:

Okay... I see I miss spelled "shirt" in my post above. I tried to add the r and came up with ***r* !! :rotfl:

(Sorry mods--please don't "point" me!!)

Good training, everyone. I am still training from my couch. I have read everything I can find on shin splints. From what I have read, mine still has not healed since it is tender to the touch. however, I did find one site where a guy training for a marathon developed a severe shin splint 2 weeks before his marathon. (sound familiar??) The advice given was just to rest and ice, not worry about training. He would not lose any ground in the two weeks. I am hoping that is true since I had already done 11 and a half miles in less than 15 minutes a mile. I really was just training to keep up what I had already done. You can't imagine how hard it is not to be able to keep training. I go from being hopeful that it will be better soon to thinking that I might have to cancel for this year. Since this is the only time in my life that I have trained for something like this, if I don't do it now, I am not sure that I ever will!! I have tried every single cure that I have read about. If hanging garlic around my neck would help, I'd do that!! (Oh wait. That's to ward off vampires!). Keep training. Reading about it gives me something to do!!
