oh i just noticed someone else is staying at POFQ too! yay. Nearer the time we'll have to look at taxi's and things if anyone's open to sharing.

Anyway..... week one of training plan done!!!!! I know i did it backwards, week's end on fridays in my head as the team challenge works that way. We can all definitely do this :woohoo:
 
Bad week, long week, cold week. But at least I've kept my training up as far as the walking, not the cross-training. Next week must be better!! Hope everyone else is doing great!
 
Hello everyone! I am (clearly) a newcomer to these boards, and am still only on page 30 of this wonderful thread, but I wanted to introduce myself and say how excited I am to run this race!

My roommate and I are training together, and we're also taking our spring break vacation post-race! We're staying at CBR (in a brand-new pirate room!!!!!!) from the 6th-13th.

Can't wait! I've got my skirtsports pink running skirt, and a tiara in the works. I'm sure I'll have more to say later...but I've been at work all night so my brain is fried! princess:

:wave2: dukebluebell welcome to the board and even more excitingly..... the princess half marathon!!!!! Oh pink skirt and tiara sounds wonderful- you should be spottable! So lovely that you're running with your roommate too.

Anyone else find it much much harder running outside compared to the treadmil? Just in from 9.1 miles outside- nearly killed me and was so much harder than same distance on TM. Must make a promise to myself to do as many runs outside as possible.
 
hey all did another 5k road race this weekend... trying to do some sort of race every weekend...
also did cross training of the bike at the gym..

its cold here in NC as well...

does anyone know when we should begin to hear things about the course and such? i am assuming after the Jan marathon they will focus on us princess runners!!
 
I posted a copy of what Disney had set as the Princess Half Course on my website at http://disneyrunning.com/09princesshalfmap2.pdf . This still may change but Disney has been tight lipped about what/if they are doing as I know there are many unhappy people if it is a rehash of the Jan Half. They have voiced there concerns to Disney and thus the delay for any changes yet.
 
How close is the speedway to the MK? It says IN the MK. So...I'm wondering...If this is close so the MK, why not just start there, run through the castle and then adjust it so you finish at Epcot. With all these smart folks at Disney...I'm sure they could figure out a way to get the castle in there...

Can it really be this difficult to include the castle and not do the same route as in January?

At least have the 5K at the MK instead of Epcot. Then the 5K participants can run through the castle...

My opinion anyway...

the Speedway is near The Poly way out in the magic kingdom parking lots... So its not exactly close to the castle..
i would be nice to have the castle to run through, but running through the other 3 parks could be fun as well!!
 
I've told myself to just be happy with showing up to start and feeling healthy. The course will be the course. The castle would be cool, but I'll bet AK in the morning with all the trees and flowers and animals is very pretty.
 
It's very similar to the Minnie 15K course and I really enjoyed that course. I especially liked the boardwalk area!!!

Maybe they can figure out a way to include the castle and the HS and EP area!

I guess we'll see...

I'm, also looking forward to the Princess Half. It'll be my 4th half, but my first one running alone. I known I can post a 2:20:00 time but am hoping to get in under 2:10:00. Anyone looking for a running buddy during the race?

Anyone doing the race retreat or the Princess breakfast? I'm thinking of the race retreat as a Christmas gift for my mom, she's so hard to shop for!
 
Hi ladies I am new here. I started training for the 1/2 several months ago but then the cold bug settled into our house and I had an ankle injury so I am starting from scratch. I am up to 2 miles running and hope I can make the 1/2. I would be devasted to be swept. Any encouragement is appreciated. I just printed the Hal Higdon "walking you 1st 1/2" but plan to jog some of it.
 
Hi all! And welcome to the newbies!!

I have had a slow training week.. I think i have bronchitis or the starts of a cold.. my chest feels like someone is constantly pushing on it, and i am coughing like crazy.. not much other symptoms, slight stuffy/runny nose, but not a normal cold - so i am leaning towards Bronchitis - which stinks, since i know that can linger. :(
It's hard to try to train when you can't fully breathe normally.. but i don't want to lose out on training time either! I took the last 2 days off, but hope to try to get on the TM today (friday) at some point. (As you can tell i am not sleeping good either, as i am on at 4am. )!

We are supposed to get 8-10" of snow today.. YUCK..

Hey Lauren, got an extra room for me in sunny GA?? ;) It's gotta be better than here!! LOL


I noticed all that extra stuff they added, wow... talk about the extras adding up! LOL - I don't think i am going to do any of it, except for the P&P party, which they still have listed as a go..
 
BTW, everyone who is flying Southwest, check your fares! The rates have dropped, and you can re-finance (so to speak) your flight and get a credit! So far with our 5 tickets in March, i have saved $580 with flight fare drops! They give it to you as a credit to use, not cash, but that is fine!
 
Thanks for the Southwest tip...we've been stalking them and I think we'll buy tickets tonight after work.

Just a training tip for the winter colds...general advice says that it's ok to train if your symptoms are above your shoulders (stuffy nose, headache, etc.) but if anything moves below (cough) you should take it easy for a while until it subsides. Don't forget that exercise can actually -weaken- your immune system!

Ok, enough soapboxing. Time for me to go to work where I actually get -paid- to be annoying. ;)

I am so excited for this race! Ordering my tiara this weekend. princess:
 
Geez, maybe i should stand on my head for a bit, maybe the cough stuff will move up.. LOL.
That is my worst fear, that this will turn to a lingering Bronchitis and really affect my training.. :(
It happened to me before..
 
Caits: You MUST feel better at once! I've said so, so it must happen. That's how we roll at my house! :cutie: It was freaking 80 degrees here yesterday. It's sooo not normal. My guestroom is always open. :hug:
