Diane, you made me feel much better today! I was feeling a little down about "Only" doing a 5K but this is my first race so it's smart to start my training out wisely. It's a big deal to me since I was never a runner. It's nice to have this thread as a support group. I love reading everyone's posts and seeing their excitement and challenges during their training!

Thanks everyone!!

Ditto Ditto Blakely and Thank you DianeL.

It is also my first 5K and first race ever. I have been so supported by coming here and reading everyone's words.
I cannot wait for March and be a part of this wonderful event with all of you.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm doing the 5k and i always say it just a 5k and people look at me like you actually run. I'm a rather large girl but getting smaller every day. This is my 4th 5k in a year and 3rd Disney race. Ive done the inaugural tot, inaugural EEC and now this race. I love the way it makes me feel after I've completed them. I wanted to do the 1/2 but i know I'm not physically ready for it so I'm volunteering instead. For those who are doing there 1st 5K or 1st half once you do your first race you will be hooked. I love 5k's but dream of doing a longer race someday.

Amanda

sorry for the ramble: i jmeant to say as long as you are racing and not sitting on the side lines you should be proud of whatever length you do.

Does anyone have any experience staying at bcv and getting to the race start at epcot. Do they allow you to walk thru epcot or will we need to get a cab to the front?

Amanda

Well, I officially registered today for DD (17), DD (1.5) and myself to do the 5K. Since I will barely be able to make the 5K myself, I will not be pushing a stroller too, no reason to crash into a "serious" runner. The littlest princess will wait with grandma until "her" race is called.

This is my first race, ever. I used to run, haven't in about 5 years. DD did her first triathalon this past summer and is hooked. We planned a girls trip to check out colleges and then noticed that it was also the Princess weekend. :cheer2:

Could some post a picture of what the special BondiBand will look like? Is this just for 1/2 marathon runners or are 5K runners wearing them too? I have the info to contact the seller directly but was wondering what they looked like before I order for my sister and myself!

Thanks!

Blakely

Well, they are a special order item, and will be exclusive to our group. That means that Rebecca will only sell them to folks who specify the WISH headband. It does not matter which race you are doing, or if you are cheering, volunteering or not able to come at all. Just specify WISH and you will be able to purchase one or more.

If you can use your imagination, I can show you a few pictures...

This is the graphic:

But it will be the color of this peace sign on a magenta "wicking" headband:

And will look something like this when you have it on:

If anyone missed my prior post on ordering headbands, here is the scoop. We can order idividually from Rebecca, but since it is a special order, we need to to it by phone or email instead of her website. Cost is $5, and she will sell her other stock headbands at a cost of $5/item instead of $8.

I opted to order mine by email and pay for and pick up at the expo. I think someone else here gave CC info over the phone in order to have them shipped in advance. Order by date is Feb. 25. Send me a PM if you want the email and phone # info--as I stated before, I don't think it is my place to put this info into cyberspace, even if it is on the bondiband website.

I do 7 miles tomorrow and thanks to the ice still left on our street I will be doing all of it on the TM.

I did 3 miles today in 43:00 minutes.

Yeah Wendi!! :cheer2:

I feel your pain. They never even ploughed our street. Darn badget crisis! What county do you live in?

Amanda

Good question. :thumbsup2 We are staying at the BWV and we were wondering if we could walk thru Epcot as well.
PS Thanks for those kind words about 5K race. :grouphug:

FYI: For those who want to know, you can not walk through EPCOT unless it's open. Don't think the park will be open before 7am. Also remember that if you want to go back to your hotel by walking back through EPCOT you need your park ticket. This has been the norm for the last few WDW Marathon weekends. If you are not at a hotel with bus transportation, then you will need to drive yourself or get a cab.

I ran 120 minutes or 8+ miles. The treadmill shut off after 100 minutes so I didn't know when I was done with my 8 miles exactly. I know that I was ahead of 15 minute miles at the 6.5 mile mark though before it shut off.

I went out this morning but waited until 9AM since it was a little too chilly for me. I think it was in the mid 40's so I know for some that isn't too cold but for this Florida girl its down right frigid. When I first started out I had my jacket on with my long sleeve tech shirt and capri running pants. After a mile I had to take the jacket off. I was surprised that even with a slacking off I have done since the marathon. My endurance was still pretty high and I actually ran more before stopping to walk then I have ever done on a training run.

I did about 5 miles in about an hour and 10 minutes but that included a stop at Starbucks for a venti latte so I walked for quite a bit back to my normal route and home. I then ran the rest of the way home. I know I should be doing more milage then that but I just didn't want to do anymore.

When I was out there today I actually thought to myself "I am a runner" This might be the first time I actually considered myself a runner and not run/walker.

that 100 minute shut off must have been frustrating, UP. I have a "structured" workout of 100 minutes, so I could anticipate that. When I had to do my 2 hour walk on the TM, I did it as two 60 minute sets. Okay, actually 2 70 minute sets since I did a 10 minute stretch/warm-up and a 10 minute cool-down/stretch.

Just stopping by to say hey and hope everyone's running is going well. :thumbsup2

I started my C25K at the start of January and it's going great. Actually, I've kinda skipped past some weeks because I'm was able to run longer distances for some reason. One day I just kept running and did 16 mins straight. Then just today I was able to run for 30 mins straight minus the 2 min walk I did halfway through. Still haven't gotten as far as 3 miles, but I hope to in a few weeks. Anyway, this is from someone who couldn't run more than 3 mins at a time 6 weeks ago!

I also booked our resort - we are renting a 2-bedroom villa at Bonnet Creek (it's a resort on WDW property you may not have even seen!). I'm excited! We really need the extra space with our marathon napper. ;)

I plan to do the same thing now that I know it automatically shuts off. When I did my 7 mile run two weeks ago, it accidentally shut off when my water bottle fell and I tried to catch it thereby yanking out the emergency cord that was attached to me so it was something of a surprise. I can't believe that I'm walking/running for more than 100 minutes.

Thanks to Diane and everyone for the kind 5k words! I think that after this 5k I will be hooked and will probably end up running the 1/2 with you all next year! I am already looking at doing the RFTT in October...

Yeah Wendi!! :cheer2:

We live in Warren County. Our street usually gets it but for some reason our street didn't and the main road (ST RT 48) didn't get it either. We have had two notices from the Post Office to dig out our mailbox and we can't because the ice is so thick.

Just reading the rules, if you are in the stroller section don't forget that you child has to wear a helmet!!!!!!!

Oh, being a newbie I am glad you posted this info. BTW, where are the rules?
I would like to go over them and pass this info on to my daughters who will be in the stroller section.
Thanks so much.:)
