Calling all nurses! (Or nurses-to-be)

Hi all :)
Just graduated with my BSN a little over a week ago. Just waiting for my ATT to arrive so I can set my date .. in the meantime, going over all my review books and practice questions.
One BIG hurdle down (school), next NCLEX, and then bring on the job hunt! I'm in a tough area for new grads (Boston has AMAZING hospitals but times are tough here, not many are willing to take us newbies) but I am willing to drive a bit, and not picky about LTC/SNF etc.

Good luck to all the other '12 grads out there getting ready for the boards & job search :)

Have been an LPN for 20 yrs. Worked in nursing homes fancy ones and not so hot ones. The longest job was being a contract nurse traveling all over Ga. working in prison's. Loved the men prisons hated the women prisons. Just like in real life the women were she said this she said that blah blah blah. I am in looove with Amy and she is looking a Beth OMG!!1 I am a woman and am embarrassed at the way WE act. BTW never been a prisoner or I couldn't be a nurse lol.:rolleyes1:littleangel::cool2:

Congratulations to everyone graduating:banana::dance3:

I took the NCLEX yesterday and I passed, my name is already up on the board of nursing :dance3:! My boyfriend took it today and passed too! We are going to Disney from the 4th to the 9th! I was so glad to be able to get the test done before going away, such a relief! Then when we get back I have an interview for a nursing internship!

My name just showed up today as pending examination on the board's website, just waiting for my ATT now!!

I feel like I lost all the information from school since it took so long for them to process my application! I took a couple weeks off from studying and I'm having a hard time getting back in the groove. I passed the Hesi Exit with the highest score in my class but I'm so afraid of failing the NCLEX.

This is for LPN, BTW :)

Congrats to everyone passing!

edited to add...I just got my ATT..I take my test Aug 18 at noon. I'm so nervous!

So, just finished my last class for my BSN. Fingers crossed that this helps get a better nursing job!!!. I got my ADN May of 2011 and took for ever to find a home care nursing job and I'm totally dissatisfied with my job as a nurse.

I'm so happy to be on this board! I'm starting my first nursing class this fall at UNCG. Currently I work as a Nurse Tech at a local hospital and I love it. My long term plan is to become a Nurse Anesthetist.

Congrats on the BSN! Yes, in the NE it should help, plus you have a little experience under your belt. it must be very hard working in a nursing home. I don't think I'd like it either.

I'm so sad to see your siggy! Robin was an excellent writer! :sad1: Last time I checked, her grandson was still little and her son was in SC. :sad1: i hope everyone is doing as best as they can.

Congrats! Look at the CRNA school you want to get in. Some don't count the ER as critical care experience.

Thanks. Actually its home care nursing so in my book worse then nursing home as I work alone.

Robin's grandson is about 5 I think and they are coping....that's about all right now.

I got a job!! I was actually offered two positions. The first one is on a med surg floor where I precepted my last quarter. The one I took is an advanced care internship. The internship is 16 weeks long and allows me to work on two different floors. I do not know what floors I will be on yet, I don't start until the second week of October. It feels great to have gotten a job, especially considering I got my my first choice!!

That's awesome! I actually interviewed today for a PRN position at an MRDD facility. Sounds promising, they are going to do my background check and then call me back again! I know a girl that works there and she said they have a part time LPN that keeps calling in and try don't have a PRN nurse so maybe it would turn into PT soon! Woohoo!!

No one has been on here in a while thought I would say hi! I graduate on June 14th! I am so excited. I hope to get a job but there are going to be a lot of new grads around here :worried: Any tips for a new grad looking for a job?

Have a foot in the door job prior to graduation, know someone that can refer you for a job, and lots of prayers.....or live in the boonies.....

Or move to Orlando, there are a TON of hospitals here, and all are hiring!
