Calling all nurses! (Or nurses-to-be)

Well took the NCLEX yesterday.

Im so glad I will NEVER have to do that again. My license number was posted today on the PA board of nursing site so I know that I passed.

I finished Classes May 4, Graduated May 20 and got a hip replacement June 7. I'm planning on taking the next few weeks of recovery studying for the NCLEX. My goal is to hopefully take it about the 3rd week of July.

Congrats to all that have just passed the NCLEX.

Had an "interview" for a nursing assistant position at a long-term acute care hospital close to home yesterday :)
I never was really interviewed though... met w/ Nurse Manager, took a tour of the unit, talked with her for a bit, met the hiring manager, filled out an official application and cori then was left with this: "ok we'll run these through... orientation is the first week of july and i will be in touch"
... kind of random.. not sure what to expect. are you telling me orientation dates because i'm hired? will we sit down and talk about how much i will be paid, what shifts i will work, etc? i'm confused but hoping that she will call soon and let me know i have a job!

also bought a whole bunch of scrub tops / pants that finally came in the mail today! :)

5 years as a nurse next month... I have done med-surg, sub-acute, pediatrics and homecare... love it all in peds right now love it but miss sub a little.

Hi everyone. I posted awhile back that I was going for my CNA. Well, i'm now officially a CNA in a hospital! We are still orientation, and I will be the 3-11 shift, floating to all units. I will also be going to school to get my pre-reqs for nursing school while working.

I need some new shoes! My feet are killing me by the end of the day. What does everyone wear?

I bought some Sanita clogs in December after a few of my classmates recommended them. They come in those weird "clog sizes", so you should get fitted at a store to make sure they fit your foot properly. I LOVE them.

I got black patent leather, which is great because they are sealed, so you can wipe them with alcohol pads and it won't break down the leather of the shoe :) They are sooo comfortable .. I don't think I will ever buy any other kind of shoe! The arch support is really great too - my arches are freakishly high, and most shoes aren't very supportive. These are awesome, and my feet don't feel like they want to fall off after a long day! :woohoo:

another vote for clogs here. I have several pair, Dansko, and I have one pair of Sanita too, ( backless style )
so comfy.
they are expensive but well worth every penny!

Bumping....

I start my first job as an RN on Monday. I got a position on a Behavioral Health unit.

Congrats!!!! Being a new nurse is tough. Just keep reminding yourself to do your best, learn as much as you can, and do not be too hard on yourself. School teaches you how to think critically, but the real stuff you learn on the job. I hope you love it and have a great staff!

I have less than 100 days now until I graduate nursing school!! :cool1::cool1: Graduation is December 17th...I am doing a Second Degree BSN program in 16 months...it has been more than a bit overwhelming at times, but so worth it!

I am taking my last 4 classes, and doing a 360 hour preceptorship right now, which has been amazing so far. I am doing a few different floors- an ortho/neuro floor, general med-surge/peds floor, and I will be also doing a labor and delivery floor for part of my time.

I can't wait to finish up, because then dh and I get to surprise our kids with a January Disney trip! What a way to celebrate graduation!! :cloud9:

Thanks. I have worked in health care for the past 8 years so I think I am going in with more realistic views then some of my classmates had.

No one has been on here in a while thought I would say hi! I graduate on June 14th! I am so excited. I hope to get a job but there are going to be a lot of new grads around here :worried: Any tips for a new grad looking for a job?

I graduate on May 5th. We are pretty saturated here in the metro Detroit area with new grads too. They keep telling us it will take about 6 months to find a job. I am hoping it is less than that. Good Luck to you!!

I graduate June 8th! So excited, yet worried about taking my Hesi Exit and Nclex!

Do you have examples of your work? Were you in SNA, did you do charity work or anything (March of Dimes, etc.)? Showing that you went above and beyond the basics of nursing school helps. Good luck!

I took my Hesi exit today and passed!! I will be graduating on June 8th with my LPN. I will work for awhile and then go back for my RN. Such a big relief to pass today!!

Congratulations. That's what I do for the state, qualify people to take the LVN/LPN exam.
