Calling all January 2011 POP'pers!!!

Ok....sharing the excitement with all of you.....one month from today we will be landing at MCO airport and traveling to POP for a two week stay....is there a master list of who's going when so we know if there are gonna be other Dis members there at the same time??? We are going Jan 23-Feb 5...family of 9 here...shouldn't be too hard to miss! LOL

We're going to be there during the same time period as you (Jan 21- Feb 3) We have a window decoration with hanging mickey heads with our names (Carrie, Anthony & Jonathan) But you'll probably hear me yelling, "Jonathan, get back here." "Jonathan, quit running." "Jonathan, watch out for people." And then see a blonde-haired monster running all over the place

as she opened the necklace....she had no clue

then came the little airplane....and she says a trip

then she opened the play dough and looked even more

then she opened the countdown chain and i have to explain it to her ...and litlle miss talkative....couldnt get a sound out....she sat on the couch just kicking her feet with her mouth open and nothing came out


about 15 mins later she goes ...we are really going???

We had to think of a clever way to tell my DS who is almost 11 years old that we are going for a 4th year in a row. We have done many different ways in the past (our favorite being the inside of a Snapple cap, his favorite drink, had a picture of Mickey and "See you in 9 days"...was so fun).
So this year I saw the "Disney Parks" DVD at Best Buy. So we wrapped it an slid the "Magical Express" vouchers inside the DVD. So when he opened it he said "That is so cool, a DVD about Disney", thanks! So then he opened the cover to see the Magical Express vouchers and said "Are we going to Disney"? And we said :YES"!!!!!!!!!!
He stood up and yelled, jumped around, etc
He didn't think we were going this year, so it was really a surprise.
I cannot wait and it cannot get here fast enough....first we have a horrible blizzard heading our way in PA.....after that I will be in full Disney mode!!

We're in the Carbondale area. I think most people concider anything south of Peoria Southern Illinois. LOL Thanks for checking on the hotel situation for me.

They stay at the Ramada StL Airport. She said it's under $100 and they get to park for a week and have the shuttle. I don't think it's luxury by any stretch, but its a decent place to stay and park!

Thank you! I was just thinking I should firm that up today. It's the only thing I don't have comfirmed. Good to know someone has stayed there and find it ok. Thanks again!

I'm getting so excited!! (I'm sure I'm not the only one here who is)!
The toys have been stashed in the boys' room (who cares that you can't walk in there?) Hubby just took the boys sledding so I'm getting the Christmas stuff packed away so I can get the suitcases out and the lists made and START PACKING!! Showed our 4 yr old pics of Pop (he was 2 1/2 the last time we went to Disney, so doesn't remember anything), and we put a bunch of the Christmas stocking candy in a big ziplock to take on the airplane. Hope all that celebrate had a fabulous Christmas!! Have you all got your docs yet?? We leave in 27 days and our haven't come yet. I was thinking they should be here by now??

Docs have arrived, Christmas is over...now the countdown begins until we go to the World and my first half marathon. I can't remember if I put in a request for the 50s section though.

Best of luck on your first 1/2! What a great place to do it at! I was supposed to do a 10K in Oct but waited until the last minute to sign up and it was full. My husband thinks I may have done that on purpose!

Thank you MomtoPrncChrmgs! Friends of ours waited until the Family 5k was 80% full and then tried to sign up. It filled within day. Maybe next time

We're getting really excited here!!! Down to 25 days!!!! We're going to start to put away Christmas presents and take down some decorations today.

Then I'm going to make a packing list and see what I have and what I need and go from there. I've been slowly buying stuff and putting it away (like Disney clothes, pins, etc) and putting away free samples (like shampoo and laundry detergent) so I'm going to have to go through everything

And if anyone is renting a car, you might want to look at Alamo. They had a $30 off one week coupon code and an extra 15% off that could be combined, so our total is $225 for 13 days for a midsized car with all of the taxes and fees(picking up at the airport). I had our car rental booked at $300 for an economy car, which I thought was a great price, so I'm very happy with the price we got now!!!

I just stumbled upon this thread. We leave in 16 days and my DS does not even know yet! He will find out tomorrow night when he gets to open one gift before he goes to bed! I cannot believe that I have been able to keep the secret this long. I am so excited I am about to bust! We are there from Jan 8th until the 16th! Here we come!!

Yay!!! How exciting!!!

Does anyone have a packing list that they're using, that they wouldn't mind sharing? I'm driving myself crazy trying to make a list. Last time we went in January, we had a couple warm days where DH and DS were in shorts and then just as quickly it turned freezing cold and rainy. We had to change clothes a couple of times a day as we were soaking wet and freezing, so I want to make sure we take extra clothes in case it rains. But I also am trying not to overpack I know I'm going to end up doing laundry a couple times while we're there but I also don't want to end up doing laundry every other day, kwim? I'm just not sure what to pack...

Me and my family will be there fron Jan. 29th until Feb. 4th. So excited. This will be my son's 3rd time there and he is only 3.

We live in Maryland and doing a Florida vacation in the middle of winter is just what the doctor ordered. Have fun everyone!!!
