Yep, it's still raining!!! :umbrella:
The town is taking their precautionary measures for flooding, because we have several areas in town that does flood. Our retention area has not overflowed again since yesterday morning, but it is about 1/2 full, so it won't take much to have it happen again. Kevin was suppossed to go to a race in Indianapolis today, but he decided not to go, and stay in town.

Karen - I'm glad the orientation went well, and that James won his game:cheer2: Have fun shopping with your friend today, and how exciting about your next trip:banana: Have fun with your planning!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I gotta go make some breakfast
Have a great day!!!

Folks, I have to say this to you, because I can't say this to my children - I'm getting really nervous!!!!!!!

The retention area across the street is spilling over like a water flow into the creek and the street. The creek is overflowed, and is now getting extremely close to the house - I'm very nervous!!!!

I went downstairs (basement) and brought up all the boxes of pictures. In the family room (3rd level) is where I keep the photo albums, and I have also brought those upstairs. If we get water, I'm hoping the upstairs will be untouched. I just can't imagine something happening to my photos :sad1:

Kevin came here with a guy on the FD in his big pick-up, and said that he won't be able to come home in his car, because the water is to deep. If I have to leave, I'm hoping the van can get out, but I'm not leaving unless I really really have to.

This rain just won't let up, and my heart is pounding with a lot of nervous energy. I"m sorry to be such a downer, but like I said, I have to act unnervous for the girls sake, and I just had to discuss this with someone.

Gotta run and finish doing a couple things around the house

Hello-just keep preparing for the worst while hoping for the best. Safety first-no matter what. Try not to wait until the last second if you feel you will need to evacuate. Sometimes if you wait too long the decision will be made for you. Don't forget you can put things in your dryer, dishwasher etc-hopefully that would give your papers and breakables a little more protection. My heart and prayers are with you. Please keep us posted. Love to you and yours, Grannywishes

ill be thinking of you and hoping for your safety!

I havent been through anything like that ever and dont know how I would react or how serious this really is. I hope you and your family is safe and have everything that you need.

I hope that you keep us posted!

Good Monday morning everyone!

sandy - how are you? Is everything OK with your house and family?

CB - hello!

What a nightmare around here!!!
Poor Kevin, and the rest of the guys on the FD, they've been out since 10am yesterday morning. They've had to evacuate so many people in town. Buses were brought in to transport these people, but in order to get folks to the buses, they guys had to pick them up in a boat. The biggest problem is, there's no help from neighboring towns, because they all have their own problems. So we have 14 men/women to do this all alone. They are exhausted and very stessed out. Kevin isn't anticipating coming home until tonight. Normally he goes to work today, but he believes he wouldn't be able to get there, so he's not going.

Both girls have to school today either (the daycare even closed due to flooding). I"m wondering if I should even open the store - who's going to come:confused3 So, I don't know what to do :confused3 I can say that our house was spared from all this terriblness, thank God!!!! It was close, so very very close, but we were spared.

I'm asking this morning, for everyone to please keep all the emergency workers, not just Kevin, in your thoughts and prayers. They need them so much!!!! With being up 24 hours, they are still needed to drudge through waist deep water to help those in need, and while doing this, trying to keep a calm smile on their face to help calm the victims - they truly awesome!!!!!

Grannywishes - It is always so good to see you!!!:goodvibes Thank you for your post, and thank you for your suggestion about putting things in the dishwasher and dryer - what a great suggestion!!!!! Thank you so much again for your post

CB - Thank you!!! :) How are you doing? I'm so anxious to here about all your experiences!!!:)

Karen - We are doing fine, thank you for always being here my friend!!!!

The retention area across the street still has a lot of water in it, and I'm so nervous about the wall of it blowing out (the wall in front of my house) and having all that water coming at the house. The ground is soggy, and saturated, and I don't know how much more pressure it can take. I wish the town would do something about it to make it stronger, but there's a slim chance of that happening:rolleyes:

Well I gotta run!!
Have a good day!!

sandy - I am so glad you posted! I was worried about you! I am glad your home is faring well. Did you open the store? I will certainly be thinking of Kevin and all the rescue workers!!! I am sending some sunshine your way! Maybe that will help! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Poor Kevin didn't get home until 4pm yesterday afternoon. When I came home from work at dinner time (my employee worked last night) I took one look at him, and I felt so bad for him. I have never seen a face and eyes, so tired in all my life. So we ate dinner, took Stephanie to tutoring, I drove him to his parents (in our town) to check their house because they are on out of town, drove to the firestation for him to get something, got Steph, came home, and he went straight to bed. He fell asleep so fast, it was incredible. I felt so bad when I woke him up this morning. He is still so tired, and so so sore from everything he went through yesterday. Now he has to face all this terrible traffic to get up by Midway - this is going to be such an awful long day for him. I hope he doesn't fall asleep at the wheel - I"m very worried about that!!!

Stephanie doesn't have school again today, so she is quite happy about that:yay: :woohoo: They are going to be with my mom again today, and they are very happy about that too:) If the water doesn't receed around here, they probably won't have school again tomorrow. What a crazy time!!!

Karen - I did open the store yesterday, and there was no business:sad2: I wasn't surprised though, because traffic by my store is so bad, becasue all the traffic is being diverted from the expressway down the main road by my store (the expressway is under water). But, I thought I should open in case someone did want to come. Luckily, my employee worked last night, so I didn't have to sit there all day.
**Thanks for keeping Kevin and his FD team in your thoughts and prayers - they need them!!!

Well, I gotta go workout, no more not working out!!!!
I haven't worked out since Wednesday morning, and I'm feeling incredibly guilty. I was going to yesterday, but I was tired myself from stressing out on Sunday, and then barely sleeping Sunday night because I had the FD radio on, and was waking up all the time when someone would speak or the tone would go off. But I wanted to keep an ear open on what was going on.

So, now I must go
Have a good day everyone!!!!

Stephanie finally has school today - hooray!!!!:woohoo: :yay:
She's been really liking these days off, but I keep telling her that she has to make it up next summer, and we haven't even started winter. I told her to pray for no snow days, or she'll end up going to school for 1/2 of June

The water is receeding more and more around here, but the expressway is still closed. That means terrible terrible traffic. My store is by Route 30, which a major thoroughfare, and it is bumper to bumper, because all the expressway traffic is being diverted to Route 30. This unfortunately means very little business for all the businesses around Route 30 - no one wants to fight the traffic to come to our places. Even the food places are really slow at lunch time. I will be so excited when everything is cleared up, and everything goes back to normal.

Well, that's about it from me today
I have to work till 7pm, which is a bummer, but the last 2 days my employee worked, so I was really glad about that:) . I made a Beer Bread (from Tastefully Simple) last night, so we are having that with some homemade soup that Kevin made Saturday for dinner tonight - so that's nice and simple:thumbsup2

Have a good day!!!!

I am so sore today.
I tried Tae Bo for the first time yesterday, and wow, I don't think I will ever do it again. Not only did it prove that I am totally uncoordinated, but it hurt my neck, and my knees. If you ever want to know if you are a coordinated person, put in Tae Bo - it'll tell ya!!!:rotfl:

There was a house that blew up in the town that's next to our town - it was crazy!!!:scared1:
We were eating dinner when it happened, and Kevin heard it at our house, and we are 10-15 minutes away:eek: (he sits next to the kitchen window, and the window was open. I didn't hear it). Shortly after that he gets a phone call from someone on the FD saying telling him what happened, and to make his way to the station, because they were going to get toned out for mutual aid to Munster. He got up and left, and maybe 3 minutes later the tone went off. Then I was watching the news and my Chiropractor on the local news was interviewed about what happened - I was so shocked to see him. I can hardly wait to see him next week to talk to him about it.

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
We are leaving early today, because I have to make a frame delivery. I will need to go through Munster in order to go where I'm going, and I'm interested to see everything that is going on in that town.

Have a good day everyone!!!

Wow Sandy! I am curious to hear about the house that blew up! I already know I am uncoordinated!! If I try Tae Bo it would just be for a good laugh!

There has been a line at the computer the last couple of days so I haven't posted. I am actually at the car dealership waiting on my work car to get serviced! Not a bad job today!
Mom and I both had great news at WW last night! We have both reached the first goal which is 10% of your body weight!! We also got to set our lifetime goals. I already had a goal, but it wasn't in range for my height so we negotiated a little! I am going to update my ticker after I post. I am so happy we joined WW. It is also great to be doing this with someone!

Have a great day everyone!

Hooray, it's Friday!!!
I don't know why I care about this - I still have to go to work tomorrow. I guess it's nice knowing that I don't have to rush Steph out the door, and that I don't have to wake up at 5:30am:)

Karen - I'll have to give you the link to the newspaper, in fact, I'll get you a link to the ariel pictures takes in our area - total devostation!!!!:guilty:
**A HUGE Congratulations on your WW success!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: Keep up the great work!!!!!!:) :) :)

Have a great day today everyone!!!!

sandy - I feel you on the Friday dance! I am on call this weekend, but I am still happy it's Friday! Please send me the link! So are you soooo ready for your trip? Are ya'll going to the Halloween party while you are there? Are the girls going to dress up? Are you and Kevin going to dress up?

I have finished distributing all the cheer uniforms, tshirts, everything! This is one huge stress over. I had a fun practice with the girls last night. I always paint a run thru sign for the boys to tear thru each week. Last night I painted a huge sign with Stomp the Giants on it, then I painted each girl's foot and let them make a footprint on the sign. Then Emily wrote their names under their prints. Of course, I painted both of E's feet and she walked up one side! I think they enjoyed it. It was a little different anyway! I want them to learn cheers, jumps, etc... but they are little girls (4-8) so I want them to have lots of fun so they will want to keep coming back. One of the girls who has cheered with us for 4 years told me last night she is going to be a cheerleader forever.

One of the moms came to pay the balance for her daughter and told me that her older daughter (16 or 17) has a baby! I used to coach her! It just shocked me and makes me sad! I hope she stays in school! I see alot of teen pregnancy in my job (heck I was a teen pregnancy), and it just kills me because I know so many of these girls won't go any further. They will quit high school or if they graduate, they won't pursue college or any other career training. I know some of them will still finsh school, etc... I think it just caught me off gaurd because I know her.

Well, have a great day everyone!

wow about the teen pregnancy! i dont know anyone that has every actually been int hat situation except for my cousin that just had a baby last year. She was 19 but dated the guy for less that a year and then after the baby they got married.

i didnt know your cheerleaders were so small. When I was a cheerleader in elementary school we were 5th and 6th graders and all the girls younger were the mascots. They did all the cheers and games with us, but at competitions instead of joining the older girls they did a fun exhibition where they told and acted out a fun story with dance. they had backdrops and did 3 little pigs etc.

Today was a horrible day! Im so glad I dont work tomorrow. It was just a long week. My family...well my grandma, great aunt deb and great aunt margie will be spending the week here. I got them all mickey ears with their names on them! I want to try and get them into the room without them knowing and maybe some other cute things.

CB - How awesome about your family!! I bet you could set something up with the hotel to have their ears in the room! That is so nice!
The girls at the park range in age from 4 to 14. It makes for interesting squad dynamics! I allow the girls to cheer where they want to - for their brother, cousin, be with friends- without emphasis on age. Some parks make them cheer with their age group. I want to make it fun for the girls, but also easier for the parents. If everyone has a good experience, they come back! But, if the parents are stressed by the schedule, they won't bring the girls back. I got spoiled to mostly older girls for a few years, so going back to group trips to the pottie is killing me! Nothing like taking nine girls to the bathroom! Of course that trip takes the whole 3rd quarter so by the time we line back up the game is almost over, so I guess that's a plus!
I am sorry you had a bad day at work! I hope you enjoy your time off! See ya' soon!

Today is picture day for the girls.
I've been dragging my feet to get them to Sears for their birthday pictures, and I finally said, "NO MORE PROCRASTINATING!!!" so we are going today!!! Than after that we are going to go to Olive Garden for their Never Ending Pasta Bowl - I love that!!!!!:goodvibes Than we'll come home. Having Sophie now doesn't allow for much time away, which is good, because then I won't do any unneccessary shopping :thumbsup2

Karen - I bet you were shocked when you heard about the girl you know. I hope she stays in school too, because it would be such a shame for her to deny herself an education. How old when you had Sarah? I never thought about you having her when you were a teenager, but it makes sense now that you say it. You are about the same age as me, and you have a DD who's 20. What a great example you are to your children - that you had Sarah so young, but still went to school and have a career.

CB - I"m sorry you had such a bad day? What happened? or can you not say?
**That's great about your family coming - I bet that makes you happy!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I gotta run and get myself ready, so I can get the girls ready.
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Sandy - I was 17 when I had Sarah. Luckily, I have great, supportive parents which makes a huge difference!! I had also just graduated from high school in May - Sarah was born in August. This girl is still a junior I think. The last time I saw her she was in her school uniform, so hopefully she will stay in there and finish!
How did picture day go? I think you should take Sophie along! Then you could get a picture with all 3 of your girls!
Luckily I don't have too many patients to see today, so I am taking the kids to Sunday school and Mass and then I will go work.

CB - did you enjoy your day off?

i think you should take the Sophie also! My mom took my sister and I to take pictures once when we were young and we took things that were or hobbies. Remember beanie babies. I had hundreds, so we took them and there is a picture of my with them piled all over my lap! My favorites though are the ones of my sister and I and our dog honey. She was still puppish and young and she layed in the middle while my sister and I leaned over her from each side. Very memorable to have that picture of our dog with the people who loved her.

My bad day on friday wasnt anything secret. I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and kept running into the wrong people. Instead of being used as a breaker at work (easy and relaxing) like I thought, I was put in a kiosk that is nonstop soft serve ice cream. After getting off an hour late feeling terrible I was just in a horrible mood.

Yesterday was nonstop as I was running errands to plan for my family arriving tonight. I picked up some more fun things and there all going to be put in the hotel. I got the halloween trick or treat bucket and put pretzels and candy and trail mix. then some cute toys, and a pen and topped it off with a minnie mouse in her witch costume. My aunt will check into the hotel and then leave to pick up the rest at the airport. So while shes gone there going to put that stuff and the mickey hats in the room. Im sooo excited. I love being with familya t disney and my aunts and grandma probably wont have this chance again.

cb - that sounds great!! I think the planning is one of my favorite parts of my trips! My mom took my two younger kids last summer & I had the Disney florist send a goodie basket! They all got such a kick out of all the stuff, so I know your family will love their treats!:thumbsup2

sandy - how was your day?
