Karen - How fun about the pirate costume pirate: You'll have to show me some pictures after you come home.
**I never listen to country music, so that's probably why I don't know who he is, but thanks for telling me :)

Kim - How's your dad today? I hope he is okay!!! :wizard:
**The birthday trip you are planning for your DD sounds wonderful!!!! What a great memory you are giving her :goodvibes

DDN (my abbreviation for DisneyDmbNut) - So good to see you!!! :wave2:
I haven't heard that story, but I will check out that link that Kerri provided. It sounds like a horrible story - how sad!!!! :guilty:

Kerri - Thanks for the link!!!! :)

Well, I gotta run - have a good day today!!

Good Morning everyone!

sandy - how are things at work? Have you stayed busy now that the holidays are over? I don't remember if you told me or not - is Stephanie wearing a veil for her First Communion? I can't wait to see a pic of her in her dress!

Have a great day everyone!!

Okay, I have to share this dream before I forget it (I normally don't have dreams that I remember).
I was dreaming that I went to the hospital for something, and the nurse told me that I was pregnant. I said, "WHAT!" She said, "Your pregnant" I told her she was crazy, because I think I would have known. She said you are carrying high, and I still insisted that she was crazy. Sure enough, she did a test, and I was:eek: Then she told me that I needed to deliver right now:eek: So I left the hospital, and saw my real OB, and she confirmed that I was expecting. Next thing I know I'm on a surgical table outside, because I need to have a C-Section, because the baby is backwards. The dream ended with my FIL (Dick Clark) watching TV, and I told him to go get Kevin, because this is going to start, and my mom was walking away to see why she was hearing sirens:confused3 Then my alarm went off:headache: I'm so mad, because I wanted to see how it ended - was I having a boy or a girl? And why in the world was Dick Clark my FIL:confused3 I'm going to be trying to analyze this dream all day:rotfl:

Karen - Stephanie is wearing a veil - she's going to look like a little bride:bride: Did your girls wear a veil?
**Work has it's slow times, and busier times. With the weather getting a tad nicer, people seem to be getting out more. Hopefully this will continue and get better (fingers crossed)

Well, I guess I should get going - today is bathroom cleaning day!!!
Talk to you all later!!!

sandy - what an interesting dream - maybe you are going to have a boy & he is going to be a dancer (thus the dick clark)? Let me know when you figure it out!!
Both of my girls had veils!

Have a great day everyone!

Just stopping by for a quick hello!

Glad to see everyone's doing good around here and nice to see two new posters! I still read everything here just about every day, just don't take the time to post!

sandy - I had to chuckle when I read your post about your security alarm! We don't even lock doors around here! :rotfl:

I also chuckled about kimba's comment about their pagers being loud and thought I would share this funny story. We've gotten new pagers within the past year and they, too, are those jump-out-of-your-skin-loud pagers! Well, our department now has a chaplain and he came to the meeting last week to introduce himself (even though we all know him) and just talk to us. He was standing at the front talking about how we all need to pray, not only for safety when we're at a fire scene but that we should also pray for less calls. Just as he said less calls the pagers went off! :lmao: And we had two guys from another department there so their tones were different than ours and we had about thirty pagers in one little room going off at the same time! It was hilarious! Even the new chaplain really saw the humor in it!

kimba - Did they find out why your father was having nosebleeds? I have high blood pressure and a few years ago started getting nosebleeds that got worse as the day went on. Finally in the early afternoon I went to the hospital. My blood pressure had spiked and the nosebleeds were a sign. The doctor said that the nosebleeds were lucky, a way of the body releasing some pressure and sending me a signal - rather than me having a stroke! :scared1: So if he's still getting them please make sure he follows up! (Sorry - don't mean to scare you - but the doctor really impressed upon me how serious the situation could have been!)

Well, I better head off to work. A friend took the boys to school so I'm kind a moving slow this morning...very unmotivated! ;)

Hope everyone has a nice day!

:surfweb:

No weird dreams to report this morning:upsidedow

Karen - I sure hope there's not baby in the future!!!!:scared: If I didn't open this store, it would be fine, but with this store, that would be terrible timing. I can't imagine having a baby right now:eek: Talking about stress!!!!:headache:
**Veils are so nice aren't they?! ::yes:: Did you cry at your kids first communion? I know I will, because I got misty eyed in the dressing room while Stephanie was trying on dresses. I don't cry much when I'm sad or especially hurt, but I cry alot when I'm happy - weird I know!!!

Kathy - It's so good to see you!!! :grouphug: Please come by and post more often - we miss you!!!!!:grouphug: How is everyone on The Last to Post thread? I haven't had a chance to get over there in forever!!!! Please tell all that I know over there that I said "HI" :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready to eat
Katie and I need to leave early today to make a frame delivery before we go to the store.
Have a good day today everyone - it looks like it'll be beautiful today :sunny:

sandy - you bet I got teary eyed!! Right now I keep tearing up because James is about to finish elementary school! Heck, I'm a little emotional that Sarah is old enough to go to Spring Break in Florida without me!!

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to pop in real quick and touch base. I haven't been feeling to well these past few days so I haven't been posting much.

My dad is doing better. They took all the "packing" out today. He's on blood thinners for his heart and that doesn't help. My mom is going to buy a humidifier for the bedroom. They really aren't sure why he keeps getting them so severely. His blood pressure was normal. He's on heart meds and diabetic meds as well. They put him on antibiotics because he swallowed too much of his own blood. It's weird that he keeps getting these:confused3

I better go, I'm exhausted!!
I'll be back!
Kimba

I have the day off today!!!!
:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

My college employee is home, and is working all day :thumbsup2
So, I'm going to the mall to shop for the girls Easter Baskets, and I'd like to find a dress for me to wear for STephanie's First Communion. I'm so excited to be going alone :woohoo: I know this may seem like a trivial thing to be excited about - but I really am!!!!:yay:

Karen - Wow, I can't get over that Sarah is old enough to go alone to Spring Break. I feel like it was yesterday when you were posting about her going to college. Our kids are growing up to fast:guilty: Where, in Florida, is she going for Spring Break?

Kim - I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well lately:guilty: I'll send some get well PD your way to feel better soon!!!!:wizard:
**I'm glad your dad is doing better - that is good news!!!! I"ll send some PD his way too, so he stops getting those nose bleeds.:wizard: :wizard:

Well, I gotta go get ready for the mall - yea!!!!:woohoo:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

I had a really good day yesterday:)
I shopped at the mall for about 4 hours, and I spent way to much money:rolleyes: I bought everything for the girls Easter Baskets, a gift for my nieghbors new baby, and the baby's big sister, some new dresses for Katie, and dress coats for both girls. It was a very successful shopping day :thumbsup2 I also had a nice quiet lunch in the food court, and then on the way home, I got a Dairy Queen ice cream cone:goodvibes The nicest part of the day, was being able to drive home with my sunroof open - it was wonderful!!! :sunny:

Well, I gotta get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy Saturday everyone!

kimba - I am sorry you aren't feeling well! Have ya'll tried any nose sprays (Simply Saline) for your dad to keep the nasal passages moist? Jim has a hard time when he starts doing alot of yards in the summer - all the heat & dirt cause him to have nosebleeds so he uses Simply Saline several times a day.

sandy - your shopping trip sounds great! I have to shop this weekend - Emily will be going with! I know it takes awake some of the suprise, but I am putting spring clothes in their baskets, and given her "rapid development" of late, she really needs to try things on!!!

Jim and I drove 3 hours to Panama City Beach to get Sarah checked into the condo they rented. It was beautiful!! If anyone is ever considering a beach trip with a large group this place is great! Sleeps 12, right on the beach, 4 bedrooms,, 4 baths! Of course we then turned around and drove 3 hours back!! We got home close to midnight!

Today is opening day at the park. I will take James for pictures and his first practice game. Jim and Emily are going to the yacht club to help my dad with a race. It is supposed to be sunny and 80 degrees so everyone should have a nice day!

Talk to everyone soon!

:surfweb:

Today is going to be a pretty relaxing day:) .
We are going to hang out at home, until 3pm, and then we are going to my inlaws for dinner. My FIL is making corn beef and cabbage for St. Patricks Day. I like corned beef:thumbsup2 , but not cabbage:sad2: , so I'll need to choke that down :scared: Oh well, I've eatin worse:upsidedow

I have to say though, this is our 3rd weekend w/o getting a pizza, and I'm going into pizza withdrawl:guilty: I love my pizza!!!! Next weekend we won't get it either, because it's Easter. Before I know it, it's going to be April, and I went a whole month w/o pizza - I don't think that's ever happened before:laughing:

Karen - You are such a good mom to drive all that way to help Sarah get settled in :goodvibes (I would have done the same thing ::yes::). She's going to have such a good time!!!! :cool1:
*Sounds like you were all going to have a great day yesterday :) 80 degrees, I would love to have that right now :sunny:. I was thrilled with the unusual 60 degrees that we had on Friday.
*How's your mom doing? Tell her to stop by and say "HI" sometime :)
She's always welcome to come here and post.

Well, I gotta run and start thinking about breakfast. I think we are going to have scrambled eggs w/ Velveeta cheese and French Toast sticks:goodvibes This is one of my favorite breakfasts:thumbsup2

Have a good day today everyone!!

Dinner at my in-laws was very nice:goodvibes
I tried soda bread for the first time, and it was quite tasty!!!!:)

Have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

We had a good weekend here. It was windy and chilly but we were able to put up the new trampoline. I say "WE" but it was really DH and DS. I watched from inside!:rotfl:
Saturday my girls danced in an Irish Program at a local church. It went really well. Especially for my oldest DD - she was the star of the show! She's the oldest most experience dancer in the class and her teacher had her demonstrating lots if steps and techniques. The audience all oohed and ahhed - she loved it!! She really needed the boost of confidence too.

Today's plans are for a traditional Irish pot roast for dinner and not so traditional brownies for dessert!

Have a great day everyone!!

Kimba

PS -Karen thanks for the tip about the saline drops for my dad. I'll mention it to my mom when she comes up today.:thumbsup2

Not a FF's wife but a female FF here. I actually am a VFF/EMT, doing both rescue and fire. I came from a firefighting family - Dad, grandfather, ggrandfather were all VFF, going back almost to the days of bucket ff.

My REAL job is a fire/police dispatcher, 911 call taker. It's hard some times to be on the board and not be able to respond. It's also hard to give medical instructions on the phone some times when it would be so much easier to be there and do it myself.

When my sister and I were kids, we LIVED at the fire station. The chief at the time was anti-women firefighters so we could only be members of the junior auxillary (in other words, we did the fund raising, penny sales, etc. with the FF wives - boring!) The guys used to throw us up on the hosebed of the engine and bring us on calls all the time. This was before the days of multiple lawsuits and insurance issues. :rolleyes1

My husband has always been very supportive and tolerant of me dropping things and running out the door at a moments notice. My DS6, when he hear's my pager go off, brings it to me and says "Mom, you have to go on a rescue. Dad and I will stay here, ok?" I love that kid...:lovestruc

I'm proud of my brothers and sisters and I'm so appreciative of all the husbands and wives, parents and siblings that are supportive of all the inconvenices that come along with our jobs! Thank you! :thumbsup2

I'm sitting here eating some soda bread this morning with my coffee:surfweb:
My waistline doesn't need it, but it sure is good :goodvibes

My St. Patricks Day was extrememly uneventful
I worked all day, 10-7, and then I went to a town meeting at 7:30pm.
Then I came home, and put the girls and I to bed.

Kimba - How exciting for your DD:woohoo: Congrats to her!!!! :cheer2:
**The trampoline sounds like fun, and Stephanie (my 9yr old) wants one so bad. But Katie (my 4yr old) couldn't go on it, out of fear that she could redislocate her elbow (she dislocated it when she was 18months old), and therefore, we won't get one. Maybe someday when both the girls are much older, and Katie could go on it.

CapeCodMouse - Hi there and WELCOME!!!!!:goodvibes Thank you for stopping in here, and please, please, come by often - you don't have to be a spouse to be here:sad2: We would love to get to know you!!!!!!:grouphug:
**I can picture my 9yr old DD doing your same post someday. She wants to be on the dept so badly, and she loves being at the station. I do believe that she will be a FF someday ::yes::

Well, I gotta run and finish eating my bread, and then get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!

It's weird to think this is Holy Week - it's just still so wintery around here :cold:
The weather people just said that we may have 1-4 inches of snow on Good Friday :cold:
This winter really needs to be over - it's bringing so many people down.

Have a good day today everyone!!

sandy - hello! I bet it's hard to hide eggs in the snow!

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days! My allergies have been horrible & I have a perpetual headache. Everything here is covered in pollen! I am actually excited that it is supposed to storm today - hopefully it will wash away some of the pollen! I miss breathing!

Today is an early day for me.
Katie and I are going to my friends office (my insurance agent in the same plaza as me) and working her office until I open at 10am. Her sister is having a baby today, and she needed me to answer her phone and take payments. Then at 10am, her answering machine will pickup the calls, but I'll put a note on the door for any clients to come to my store to make a payment. I then have to work until 7pm - it'll be a long day. But I don't mind, because she would do it for me in a heartbeat:goodvibes

Yesterday I went and got my haircut - and it felt so good!!!
This is the first time I"ve gotten my haircut since July, and it really needed it.
I went to a new stylist, and I really liked him.
He cut and cut and cut, and in the end, it doesn't look like he cut off much, but he said I have a lot of hair, and I could see how much was on the floor. Geez, I really need to go more often!!!!!!

Karen - We are probably going to get 3-5 inches of snow:headache: Talking about something to not put you in the Easter spirit:rolleyes: We don't hide eggs outside though:sad2: we've always hidden them in the house. Even when Easter is in April, it can still be kinda chilly around here :cold:
**How are you feeling today?
Do you take anything, like Zyrtec or Clariten?
I take Zyrtec, and now that spring is coming, I'll be taking Flonase too.
I hope you feel better soon :wizard: :wizard:

Well, I gotta go jump in the shower
Have a good day today!!!
