Not to much going on today - just hanging out at home!!!! :)

Have a good day today!!

Wow - what a weekend!! The party Friday was GREAT!! The only problem was that the balloons weren't ready at the scheduled time & then I couldn't fit them all in the car!! Not to worry - the other dad picked up the rest. Jim was stuck at a 2nd alarm fire - 3 story apartment building - and missed the whole event! We had about 45 kids. They were all well behaved - not even a spilled soda!
Saturday we drove to Tuscaloosa. We picked Sarah up at the sorority house and went out for lunch. Then we went to Jim's sister's house to leave the little ones and get ready for the dinner party. It was held in the Zone - a big, exclusive club in the endzone of the stadium. It was very nice. Then we went back to Mary's (Jim's sis) and just visited. We went back to the DZ house for a big breakfast this morning and then drove home.

James was supposed to have baseball practice, but we told the coach we didn't know when we would get home. We got home on time, but were just too tired!

Starting tomorrow I have to get ready for the trip to WDW!! Time to start making lists!!

Karen - I'm glad your party was a success!! Sorry your DH missed it though:sad2: It's what they do though. My Dad threatened that if he had a fire call during my wedding he was going to leave:scared1: My mom and I set him straight right quick:rotfl2: We had my reception at a fire hall (not my Dad's station) and they had a call during the reception. That was loud!!

You mention you are going to start getting ready for Disney...you leave in 12days!! I have lists and some suitcases packed and I leave in 243 days:rotfl: I'm a little OCD though...:rolleyes1

Our firehouse dinner went well. DH got an award for excellent service in training...meaning he goes to any training/certification class that comes along, PLUS fire school:rolleyes: He didn't receive any of the "goofball" awards. A few of the guys from DH's dive team got prizes and a couple of others did too. It was pretty funny. But the fun really started after the awards..when the drinking went into full swing. Now, I don't drink. DH RARELY drinks...think once a year. Well last night was his yearly event.:rotfl2:
I really should have brought my video camera!:rotfl: :lmao: I think that myself and two other wives were the only ones not drinking!! It was crazy and I am definitely bringing the video camera next year!!

We are having DD's 16th party on Saturday. It's theme is Red, gold and black - her favorite colors. She wants all her guests to dress in one of those three colors. We are having it in the evening and doing pizza. Her real birthday is Wednesday. She has dance class that night so I'm making some cupcakes for the class. On the 26th we are taking her to the Chocolate Fantasy buffet and for a carriage ride. It should be fun.

kimba - I love the color theming for your DD's party!! Very neat!
We knew Jim would be working since he's a career FF. We had planned on him using some comp. time to come to the party. He's really good though - he had all the drinks in ice chests in his truck - he called my dad and made arrangements for him to go by the station & grab those all while working the fire (he's the driver so he handles all the pumper stuff, etc...). Of course he din't call me - he left it up to my dad to tell me!!:lmao:

Sounds like your party was great!! We always have a good time at FF functions.

Life is going back to normal today - STephanie is done with Spring Break :guilty:
Part of me is bummed out, because it was nice not having the stress of school, but part of me is glad, because I was falling behind with housework, because I kept sleeping in  So, I have a ton of catching up to do:laundy: I was going to do some catching up yesterday, but I just didn't feel like it :sad2: so I lounged around instead - it was great!!!! :)

Karen - I'm so glad Emily's party was a success :cheer2: :cheer2: I always knew it would be - you are awesome when it comes to these type of things :) I'm sorry that Jim missed it though - that's a bummer:guilty: But that was great that he had the drinks ready, and had your dad to bring them :)
**Sounds like the rest of your weekend was great too, but tiring :faint: I would have James skip practice too ::yes:: It's good you were able to see Sarah - I know how much you miss her

Kim - I"m glad your FD Dinner was a lot of fun:cool1: , and congrats to your DH on winning his award:cheer2: Since I can't drink either, I'm usually always one of the only sober ones in the bunch:rolleyes: As much as I don't like to be drunk, I do like a good Margarita sometimes, and I do miss my Amaretto Stone Sours - oh well :upsidedow
**Wednesday sounds great for your DD :cool1: What is a Chocolate Fantasy Buffet? Is it really a buffet of chocolate? Just thinking of that gives me shakes of joy:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Well, the shower is calling - have a good day today!!!

Morning all!

sandy - I would have lounged too! The housework will still be there! I know what you mean about spring break. I am always like that with summer. I enjoy the relaxed mornigs, but I am always glad to send them back to school!

hornblower - Welcome!!! That is an interstesting job combo! It makes perfect sense!!

kimba - I don't think I would have your self control at a chocolate buffet! Yum!

sandy - How go the 1st Communion preparations?

My kids start standardized testing today. Let me just say I hate the No Child Left Behind Act!!! They will test for the rest of this week, a couple days next week and then a couple more days. It's just ridiculous! How are the teachers supposed to teach?

He actually works for Pyrotechnico out of New Castle PA. They have guys all over the country that do shows.

Hi all joining in. DH and myself are volunteer firefighters/EMTs and really enjoy it. Didn't get to read all posts. Planning our next visit in Sept and plan on visiting the Reed Creek Fire Station and ran across this thread. Hope to get to know all of you better.

Kelli

Kelli - :welcome:
Thanks for coming by, and please come by often!!!!
Where in Illinois to do you live - top, middle, or bottom?

Well, I gotta run and get to work a little early today. I have a rep coming in, and I have some stuff to get done before he gets there.

Have a good day today!!!

Morning all!

I can't believe I leave in 9 days!!!! I have to check my ticker after I post to see if it's right. When we decided to fly it moved our departure date up one day! I started working on suitcases last night. It's time to get going!!

Have a great day!

We live kinda in the middle northern part of IL, Central about an hour south of Rockford and an hour north of Bloomington. Starved Rock State Park area. Thanks for the welcome :)

:welcome: Kelli!!! We are planning to visit Reedy Creek Fire Dept. too but not until December. You'll have to let me know how it goes!!

Sandy - I'm sure everything will fall into place for the 1st Communion party. Party planning can be hectic! I planned my niece's wedding..talk about a headache!! She told me what she wanted and then I had to go to her mom (my sister) to get the ok on the cost. It was crazy!!:confused3

Karen - WOW!! 9 days!! Lucky you!! I've never done the Pirate and Princess Party. We've done MVMCP and MNSSHP though. I bought a DVD of the P&P party. It looks really cool!! We leave in a mere 240 days:rotfl2: :rotfl:

Kimba

We have been to the Reedy Creek station. It was very cool! I bought DH a shirt. We also stopped by the dalmation station once. We also traded patches at each. I found it funny to be able to hear the guys in the other room fussing about the way things are run, pay, etc... I guess THAT is universal!!;)
