Calling all Fireman wives!!!

We are in preparation mode! DH is putting up the plywood as he will report in tonight and won't be home until everything is over. I have to take a break from the Weather Channel every so often. Category 5 is scary! I am praying for New Orleans as they are below sea level & a storm this big would be horrible for their entire city. It's hard to know exactly how to pray so we just pray for no lives to be lost. I appreciate evryone's thoughts & prayers! My DD 16 said we should evacuate to Disney!! That would be a great way to escape the storm!! I will keep everyone posted!!

dh is a paramedic-firefighter with the county fire rescue. He has been working for 11 years. He loves his job and I met him on the job back in 1996 in the ER that I work in. His profession enables him to be home with the kids when he is off shift. He works 24 on and 48 off and every 3 weeks he has 5 days off. We take our disney trips during his kelly weeks or our other vacations. He watches the kids while I work on his off days so someone is always home with the kids. It works well for us in our family and I couldnt imagine it any other way!

We are just waiting now. I am soooo sick of the Weather Channel music - you just can't even dance to it! LOL DH just left to report in! This is the first storm that I have been alone with the kids. My parents usually stay with us. I have to admit I am a little nervuos about being on my own. But the kids know the routine and we are all boarded up so everything should be fine! I'll post again later to let ya'll know how we are! Thanks for your thoughts - they make me feel better!

I have such sadness for all those that are going to be affected by Hurricane Katrina . I just can't pray enough for all those that are in her path.

I keep watching the weather channel about Katrina. It's so scary and we're not even near there. I worry so much for all the people in that area. We rode out Hurricane Elena many years ago in FL and that was bad but Katrina is much worse!

I started my Fire Protection class this week. So excited about it! The class is a pre-requisite for one that I really want to take which is Detection and Investigation! Hope that'll be offered next semester.

Thanks - I actually just learned how to do it and I'm having alot of fun. I normally am not very smart with computers, but I have been self teaching myself how to do some things and I've been pretty proud of myself.

Good Morning everyone! The weather is getting pretty rough here , but not as bad as Louisiana. They are expecting the storm to make a second landfall in Mississippi, That puts Mobile on the east side of the storm. We are having reports of lots of tornado reports right now. All three of the kids are sleeping, as are the cats. The dog is whining . I'll check in again later!
