Okay guys i need some ideas

my soon to be ex boss says to me yesterday ( i only have a few weeks left before the company closes)

please help me book my trip to disney...

i say sure (I love to plan)
when do you want to go

he says August
1 adults and two 13 year old boys

so i need some expert tips on traveling in august and if anyone has any money saving ideas

thanks

Just did this for some one else. I don't get no vets and spur of the moment to Dis.

Without a few more details, my best advice is to buy 1 child AP. You can get good rates with that now for AKL (or a value if that is more their budget).

Only 1 person per party needs the AP, so they can get the resort discounts and dining discounts.

I would also book PS's at Chef Mickey, Mickey Ice Cream Social and either SciFi or 50's Prime depending on the boys style.

Good luck
Sandy

the usual August "hot, wet and crowded" warnings and plans -

take misting fans
wear good shoes and take more than one pair
carry water and stay hydrated
use fast pass and arrive early!

Lucky him to have you to plan it!

Boys are more difficult to plan things for than girls, especially 13 year old boys! But I'm sure there's tons at WDW that they would enjoy.

I have to disagree with the previous poster though, I can't see my 13 year old male cousin being interested in the ice cream social (although my fiance would be, so I guess it depends on the person!). It just seems that most 13 year old boys don't want to do what they may perceive as 'kid' activities. They might rather use that time to ride Space Mountain a second time. I think the Sci Fi & 50s diners would be fun for them though.

Have one or two people run for fast passes while the other(s) wait in line for rides or food.

Go towards the end of August if possible to avoid some of the crowds.

13 year olds may not want to take an afternoon nap, but a break in the afternoon might still be a good idea. Maybe a trip on the monorail to visit a resort and have a leisurely lunch there. Or just go back to their hotel and go for a swim to cool off.

Rides that they will probably particularly like (I'm sure you already know this though):

MGM

Tower of Terror
Star Tours
Indiana Jones
Rock N Roller Coaster

AK

Kilimangaro Safaris
Kali River Rapids
Dinosaur

EPCOT

Test Track
Mission Space

MK

Pirates of the Carribean
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Haunted Mansion
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Buzz Lightyear

have the boys been there before? 13 is a tough age because you can run into boys that love it and boys that hate it. i would suggest always starting days with things they can get into (like space mountain and rock n roller coaster) and maybe start the whole trip off at disney quest which is a guarenteed winner for 13 y/o boys.

Lets not forget the Waterparks. I would think that 13 yo boys would love the waterparks. BB has more single daring slides, TL has more slides that can be done together (most of them the tubes fit 4) and in August being so hot it should definitely be a consideration. Also DQ is pretty popular with that age group, my bet is once they get into DQ he'll have a hard time getting them out of there! UPH might be the type of tickets he could use. Just my 2 cents! Good luck and happy planning! :teeth:

Disney Quest passes are a must for boys this age, maybe even the DQ annual pass.

Walkie Talkies or cell phones! This will give the boys a little freedom and Dad peace of mind. Even if they are used only around DQ and the resort they are nice to have. The ones with the sub channels are best, cell phones even better.

E night so they can ride Splash, SM and BTMR as many times as they want.

You are a great employee!! I'm sure you'll find another job right away!!

Anyhoo...
Go to mousesavers:
http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#discountmenu
which will give you the Aug discount code. Resorts are discounted if your boss plans to stay on site.

I too recommend a water park and DTD for the boys! Find out what "type" of boys they are - that will help to plan something more educational like EPCOT or if you need to focus on thrill rides.

Hmmm, speaking of this...
I wonder if anyone has put together a "plan" for different types of people - i.e. A princess plan, A thrill ride plan, An educational plan that gives recommended rides/attractions, etc tailored to that "type" of person. Maybe I am on to something......................

Have fun planning....I love planning too, I think planning is half the fun! I just need to remind myself that it is ok if not everything goes according to plan!!!

Thanks everyone
one boy has been there the other a first timer

i knew i could count on you all for help

Thanks again:D
