My family has been to Disney a few times, but this time we will be tourguides for my sisters family. I want to make sure everything is perfect, so now I am begining to panic. We are not doing morning EMH, we are going with TGMs schedule instead. We are staying at WL, I am wondering which form of transportation will be fastest, and what time should we plan to leave each morning to be at the parks by 8:30ish. We have used the boats in the past for MK, and also to get to TTC for the Epcot monorail. If anyone has any tips or tricks to get from A to B, send them my way, PLEASE!!!

We always simply use the Disney transportation to get where ever we need to go. We know when we want to be someplace and give ourselves the proper amount of time to get places. Buses and boats run fairly frequently in the morning, so it is easy to get to the parks early.

First, let me just advise you to let go of ideas like "perfect" and just have a good time and stay flexible. :)

There is no transportation from WL to TTC that I know of. To get to Epcot (or DHS or AK for that matter), the fastest method is to take the bus from WL*.

To get to Ft. Wilderness, there's a boat from WL.

To get to other resorts, it's likely fastest to take the boat to MK and for:
Grand Floridian - take the resort launch
Contemporary - walk from MK or take the resort monorail (I think there's also a boat that travels between CR and WL?)
Polynesian - take the same launch that goes to the GF, or take the resort monorail
All other resorts - bus

*This assumes you do not have your own transportation. I find it faster to take my rental car, especially when traveling to other resorts.

DW and I have taken several families to WDW over the past few years. you may want to focus on getting ADR's at those places that are family priorities.

To accomodate the family at whichever park i usually go for fastpasses and DW stays with the family but neither of us goes on many of the rides. the FP works fairly well and you can accomplish a lot without the intense commando style. The FP's also keep things rolling along and you can plan CS meals.

Its hard to be all inclusive as hosts b/c the other family may not be as intense or driven to do "everything" so just plan on a moderate pace and when people get tired go grab a couple of hours at the pool. However it works better if you point out/suggest some of the activities at the start and then just go with the flow as opportunities present themselves.

watercraft and monorails are always fastest based on the fact that they shuttle. As you can see from my signature, there are always 2 boats on every route and sometimes more. From WL, we run 1 cruiser(120 passenger) and 1 launch(39 passenger, but ppl are....large so really like 35)

The red route(WL to MK) starts running half an hour before park open.

There is a blue route that runs between WL, CR, and FW. That route opens at 6:45am everyday and shuts down at 11:30 sharp every night.

once you get to the Magic Kingdom, if you want to go to TTC, you can take the ferry or monorail. There are 3 ferries operating at opening, and 2 the rest of the day except the 1-4pm block or so. They usually go down to 1 during that time. As someone said, you could also take the blue route from WL to CR and then monorail to TTC.

From MK, if you want to go to the Grand or the Poly, take the gold route, which begins operation 1/2 hour before park opening. Prior to that, you have to take the resort monorail.

If you are at the Grand and want to get back to MK, take the monorail.

If you are at the Poly and want to get to MK, take the gold route boat.

Although our operation is pretty smooth, on a daily basis we encounter numerous challenges that can sometimes result in an unusal delay. it happens in rails, watercraft, and buses. I can not stress enough that you allow 1 hour for each form of Disney transportation you need to take to get to your destination. It might sound silly, but if we have to pull a cruiser to the gold route because rails go down and then put a smaller capacity, slower boat on the route we pulled from and there are 100+ people on the dock, it could take a while to get on a boat. Throw in a Ferry coming through the water bridge to further slow things down, and it can take time to move. It's not the norm, but it can happen.

Refer to rules below and you will enjoy your transportation experience:thumbsup2

8. When the boat is casting off, it's not going to wait. Period. It's a safety hazard to re-secure the boat. Refer to 4,5,6, and the paperwork in 3.

9. If you want to see the fireworks, stay in the park. We transport, we do not provide cruises. If you want a fireworks cruise, pay 300 dollars for it.

10. Everyone loves WDW, but you're not the only one there. Remember the big picture. There are cycles to keep and ferryboats/lightshows to dodge. Refer to 4,5, and 6

The bottom halves of all the letters on the top line shown and everything below did not reproduce on my computer. For the benefit of others with the same problem, the text was reproduced here thanks to some fancy mouse clicking.

If your past experience included getting on a bus or boat and just making it to the event (such as rope drop) then at least plan on getting to the stop at least a half hour sooner, more if it is a crowded time of year. There could be a crowd at the stop and you don't get on the bus or boat you wanted.

hhmm I was of the impression that it worked fine since it shows up on my computer. Odd...I'll have to refine and reduce the rules.

hey there sailor!

I think u should update your info post to include that the gold route does not pick up once MK closes.
