Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi guys! Just a quick drive by before heading out for school pick up. Had coffee today with another DISer that I "met" through a TR. She also has a son on the Autism spectrum, it was nice to chat with someone who "gets it" and also loves WDW!

DD12 got a 1st place on her science fair project. Everyone did such a great job, lots of great projects!

mac - thanks for the listings!

disneygal - how exciting on you dress! Happy Birthday to your Dad!

natashag - hope you're all feeling better soon!

MJ - sounds like your manager needs to do a better job with scheduling, how annoying that they'd call/text that many times trying to get you to come in. Best of luck finding a new job.

:wave2: to everyone else. Hope no one got too much snow, we have an inch or two.

Well, time to head out for school pick-up. Nothing on the agenda for tonight so hopefully the kids won't have too much homework! Have a great one everyone! :flower3:

Irish Dancer - congratulations to your daughter! That must have been so exciting for you all :thumbsup2

MJ - I must have missed a previous post - are you looking for a job? What kind of work do you do? Maybe I know of something....

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow :lmao:

Take care, y'all!

Afternoon all!! All done stripping here!!!:rolleyes1(the wallpaper that is:rotfl2:) Now moving on to getting rid of the gummy leftovers and the painting. May have DD room all fixed up by her birthday in April.
Mac thanks for the listings. Sure wish I had FLN. That one looks interesting.
DG, hope you feel better soon. Must be a bug going around everywhere. DN and DD and now DSIL all sick.:sad2: I cannot believe how close the wedding is. I can remember you asking all of us if you were doing the planning stuff too soon. So aren't you glad to be more organized now?
Slo, hope the sale went well and that your hand is better. How is the Raynaud's this winter?
Hi to everyone else as well. Need to run. Having Sanfratellos deep dish pizza at the in-laws today. :woohoo: Don't think I mentioned it, but DH lost his grandma last week (she was 100 years young) so we have been busy with family and out-of-town relatives. Meeting up with some tonight for dinner. DSIL lives in CA and doesn't get good pizza very often and had a craving for Sanfratellos. We promised her we'd take care of that craving for her while she was home.
Later all.

Good Evening Everyone! :flower3: work just dragged on and on today. by 2:30 it felt like it should be Thursday  I can't believe I forgot to mention this yesterday.... we booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour for Thursday April 22 at 8:30am. I'm so excited.:hyper:

Mac ~ thanks for the listings. I'm hoping to catch the food network show even if i need to have my sister DVR it for me... I :lovestruc the food network.

ID ~ glad to hear you met someone else who understands the Autism spectrum and loves WDW. :thumbsup2 Congrats to DD on her science project. What a wonderful experience that hopefully she'll never forget. I know I'll never forget my prize winning science project.... ahhh memories. :teacher:

Tigg ~ It is amazing how time flies. I am very glad I was able to get so much done early. I still have a lot to do. I really need to start writing our ceremony, make the programs, get some new clothes for the honeymoon, find shoes to match my rehearsal dress, make itineraries for all our guests so they are where they need to be at the proper times, etc. Sorry to hear about DH's grandma:hug: I don't think I have ever had Sanfratellos... i'll have to check it out sometime. Glad to hear your done stripping the wallpaper. I can only imagine how big of a pain that was.

Everyone else ~ :wave2: hope you are all doing well and staying warm!

Hi everyone. Loving the sunshine in spite of the cold. Had to go to the dr for a prescription renewal. Sure hope the insurance covers that. Just discovered Walmart has $4 prescriptions and all of mine are on the list now that my dr changed one of them. :woohoo: That will be easier to handle. :thumbsup2

Been out of the loop since I've been so preoccupied with all the nonsense going on here.
Chell- sure hope it works out for you on getting a better job.

ID: that is super with your DD's first place in the science fair. My youngest DD always loved competing in the science fairs also. She too has ribbons from all those years.

Disneygal22- did not realize you were planning a wedding and all. When is it? so sorry I've been so wrapped up in my woes to pay attention to something as exciting as that.

Hope all of you are having a great day. I am planning on trying to stay as positive as possible and try to forget our "bad situations".

Hello. Tomorrow is Friday, yay!! Finally, except, its my Friday night to work. A friend and I trade off Friday night shifts because no one ever wants to work them. Oh well, gotta pay for college and my car somehow. Pretty low key weekend as well, probably seeing "Dear John" with my friend Saturday and maybe going "turnabout" shopping then working again Sunday. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!
Oh the thing with my work, my boss keeps scheduling this one girl who never shows up for her shift, she's got the same shift this Sunday so I wonder how it will work. Actually...she didn't show up for her shift today either...

disneygal922 How exciting with Keys the Kingdom! That's really awesome, on top of the whole wedding too!
irish dancer Congrats to your DD on her science fair! Is she old enough that she can move on to regionals? I used to do the science fair every year with my best friend and remember going to regionals one year. It was a huge deal, lots of fun and really cool.
natashag76 Yes I am kind of looking for a job. I have one right now, but I hate it. I call it h-e-double hockey sticks. If you know of anywhere hiring an 18 year old girl who is still in high school let me know! I'll do most anything that pays!

Happy weekend everyone!!!:dance3:

Princess - I'll see what I can come up with. What area are you in? Can you travel?

Hi guys! T.G.I.F.!!

Tough day around here with our dog. She's 14yrs and is going downhill quickly. Today she wasn't walking on her back legs and was whining. Took her to the vet, he says she's got a pinched nerve and that she's not in pain but just can't feel her back legs. We think she's too old to have surgery so she's on steroids to try and reduce the pressure on the nerve. She seems really out of it. I'm afraid she doesn't have much longer and I'm not looking forward to that. :sad2:

Kids are going to a rodeo tomorrow night with DSis so DH and I are going to use a GC we got for Christmas for Outback for a dinner out. :lovestruc

MJ - thanks for the congrats for DD, she is the age for regionals but there were a lot of kids in her class that got outstandings and 1sts and only 8 from the class go to regionals and she isn't one but we're OK with that, just happy to be done with a good grade.
*I too am looking for a job, just something part-time. Best of luck on your search.

Stitchfans - great news on the prescriptions! We never manage to have the ones that are included.
*Thanks for the congrats, DD was very proud to show off her ribbon.

disneygal - did the KTTK tour with DH when we went for our 10th Anniv, it was great! Hope you like it too!
*Thanks for the congrats for DD.

Tiggerrn - you must be happy to have the wallpaper project done, I hate stripping wallpaper.
*Condolences to your DH on the loss of his grandma.

nashtag - thanks for the congrats!

(insert waving smilie, having computer problems and can't get the extra window to open up). Hi to everyone else!

I'm looking out the window at snow coming down. Ugh, I can't wait for winter to end. Only 52 days until we leave for HHI, so wish it was sooner!

Have a great night all! Gotta run! :flower3:

id - prayers for your dog! :goodvibes

In MY world tho, snow does NOT equal night out with DH! Quite the opposite! He works (salting and snow plowing) and I handle all of Kelly's activities. :rolleyes1 From pick up at school (with another student), to the ice rink, drop off the other student, come home, change, leave, eat dinner on the fly, go to competitions for Kelly's coach, and get home around 8. Coach comes over - she lives across the street - go over Kelly's competitions for this morning and her 'everything' - costume, hair, MAKE-UP, what's in her bag, music, etc. Besides her skates that are failing. She needs new ones, costing only $300 - on the LOW end! And, Kelly isn't feeling well the past few days. She's hoarse, her throat is sore, and she's coughing. Great first start to her 1st competitions. IF I let her go. :confused3 If she's really sick, and I pull her from Sat. she'll kill me, or hate me, but her health is more important to me. :goodvibes

Let's hope DD feels better, sounds better, and performs in 1st place condition! :thumbsup2

Happy Monday, everyone! Well, one good thing about February is we are closer to spring~

KIM...congratulations to Kelly! She look very good in the video; and she wasn't feeling well while she skated? Wow!

STITCHFANS...still thinking of you and your family; how are things going?

BUNCHKIN..with our forecast calling for so much snow in the next 24-36 hours, I really envy you guys living in Nevada.

IRISHDANCER..please let us know how the dog is doing; it is so sad when special four legged members of the family start to go downhill. Hugs!

SLO..haven't seen you post for awhile, hope all is okay.

EVERYONE...please be careful with this snowstorm they are predicting. I can only hope that "they" are wrong, and this blizzard will blizz right on by
Chicago!

Take care, all!

Stichfans,
Carrier Mills is down near Marion penitentiary. Almost to Kentucky. Yes, cost of living is much, much lower down there, but it's a completely different way of life. It's not for everyone.

I know i've been saying this alot but... sorry for my absence around here.

I know the feeling. I just gad to catch up on 5 pages of postings.

But I'm so lucky that I came out of that so well! :yay: It could have been so much worse. Thank you to God and my seat belt and airbag!

Glad you're feeling better Leigh!

when life gives you lemons, you need to make lemonade, and that is what I am doing now

Glad to hear you're staying upbeat. :)

Good Evening Everyone! :flower3: kind of slow around here this weekend eh? Well, I hope everyone had a nice one :thumbsup2 I had to work an event Saturday evening. It was nice. It's my favorite event of the year, mainly b/c my office actually has designated jobs to do and I'm not just standing around waiting for someone to ask me where the bathroom is:laughing: Anywho, still looking for a place to live too. i feel like i'm supposed to be working on something for the wedding and can't figure out what. all day yesterday and today i kept asking myself 'what are you forgetting to do???' i just can't figure it out.

Stitch ~ the wedding is April 19, 2010 in Disney! :lovestruc we will have been engaged for 2 years and 2 days on the wedding day. I have a link in my siggie if you ever care to peruse my planning journal. hope you, DD are well and your DH is getting better each day:wizard:

Chell ~ hope work is treating you better

ID ~ your doggie is in my prayers. my own, Buddy, is 14.5 years old and almost completely blind (he has selective hearing too:laughing:) I worry so much about him. I've been throwing myself into panic attacks about having to put him in a kennel. At least there I know he will be fed and cared for for the few days my family is all down in florida with me. how was your dinner at Outback?

Kim ~ Congrats to DD on her 2nd place. That is quite impressive. :thumbsup2

Donna ~ I'm right with you in hoping this snow storm just breezes us by.

Crissup, Slo, Tigg, Piglet, Leigh, Mac, Bunchkin, and everyone else ~ :wave2: hope you are all well and keep warm during this snowstorm... :wizard: well, bunchy we know you are keeping warm in Nevada:laughing:

Morning guys! Hoping that this storm won't be as big as they were forecasting, really ready to be done with winter.

DH will go out of town tomorrow for work and DD12 is being kidnapped by my DSis to go to San Francisco for her 13th birthday. It's a surprise, she knows nothing about it. Going to start packing her today. :goodvibes

disneygal - wow, I can't believe the wedding is so close. Will have to check out your journal.
*Thanks for the well wishes for my dog, the steroids seem to be helping her but she's not eating much and has sight and hearing issues too.
**Outback was yummy!

Crissup - howdy stranger! How are things?

Donna - an even better thing about February is that I can now say we're going on vacation next month! :rotfl:
*Thanks for the well wishes on my dog, she's a bit better today and the vet is encouraged with her response to the steroids.

KimRaye - wow, your DD makes it look so easy! Congrats to her on her 2nd places!!

:wave2: to everyone else!

It's been so quiet around here lately, hope everyone is surviving the wonderful weather and don't get too buried from the snow. At least we're not DC or Maryland who will be getting this storm on top of the 20+in. of snow they already have!

Well, time to start the laundry and change sheets. Have a great one everyone!! :flower3:

Morning all!!
Not too snowy here yet. My niece lives in Baltimore! 32inches at their house!! :scared1:And they are now expecting some more this week. Things come to a halt there in this kind of weather.
ID hope the steroids continue to help your dog. It is so sad to see them get old.
DG, one would think you were getting old. You are too young to not remember things. That is a job for us OLD folks.:rotfl: I am sure it will come to you.
Kim, great job to Kelly!
Hi Crissup and Donna. Nice to hear from the 2 of you.
I think Slo has been sucked up into the Facebook vortex and forgotten about the DIS! :rolleyes1
Stitch, hope things are keeping well at your house.
Chell and Natasha hope you 2 are doing good also.
Well, better run. :laundy:awaits. Guess I should wash the sheets as well.:upsidedowNothing else too exciting to do here today.:worship:Don't get many of these down days.
Must say, it is nice to sit on this side of the glass watching the tiny flakes fall, than being out in them. The snow (and the people:lmao:)

Hi everyone!
Hope everyone is surviving if not enjoying the snow. My 2 oldest inhaled their breakfast this morning so they could go play outside before school. Strange kids! :rotfl:
Has anyone lost college savings with brightstart? I'm looking for people who would be willing to share their stories. Please PM me if you're interested. Thanks!
Stay warm and dream of spring!:goodvibes

ooooo. just typed a long post and it went poof.. grrr. that makes me mad..

anyway.. i'll be back later..

So where was all the snow they were predicting?! No snow day for me! And we most likely won't have one tomorrow because its a late start (10am start) so the roads should be fine by then.:mad: Work has been going well. I forgot to take President's Day off so I'm working because other people took it off. But at least that's money I make! I need to shop to get two dresses: one for turnabout and my uncle's wedding in October (assuming I can fly home for it) and another for graduation and my cousin's wedding in July. And yeah, that is the life of an 18 year old right now, snow days and shopping. Hahah.

natashag76 :) Thanks! Yes I can travel, right now during the school year it's a little bit harder but this summer it will totally be easier!
irish dancer Good luck on your search for a job too! A lot of my friends are looking for summer jobs too. I hope you find something!
*I hope your DD has fun in San Fran with her aunt! Awesomely fun city!
KimRaye Congrats to your DD! She looked awesome out there.
To everyone else...HI! :):wave2:

Sorry to butt in on your post but can you give me some info on O'Hare airport ?
We'll be arriving from Orlando on United and connecting to fly to Halifax, Nova Scotia, on United Express. Itinerary says terminal one for both. Question: Will we have to go through security again or will be stay beyond the security check in and just have to change gates. We have a 50 min. connection time.
Thanks for any info.
