Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hmmm....I never knew this thread existed. So stopping by to say hey *waving*
I'm MJ, obv I'm from Chicago, well the near west suburbs. I'm 17 (almost 18!!!) a senior in high school. I've been to Disney every year since 1995 and I love it. Being a senior I'm not always on much, but I'll prob stop by every know and then, not many teens on the TB are from Chicago, actually none are, so its nice to find people from my area =)

Welcome MJ :wave2: You are welcome here anytime.

Yesterday was a lot cooler than I thought it was going to be.

When does Toy story come out? I 've been so busy doing this and that and I am totally out of the loop.

Bunch Sometime people forget not everyone needs to share in their knowledge. I hope he didn't ruin your time. That Nemo ride looks cool.

I wish the day went as fast as these mornings.

:surfweb:

Katie and I had a nice evening last night :goodvibes
I got her hair cut - the shortest it's ever been - she looks adorable!!! :cutie:
We baked some brownies for Kevin and Stephanie tonight.:goodvibes
I made the dinner she wanted - Mac-n-Cheese and a hot dog:)
Went to bed at 8:30pm and watched tv (she didn't want to be alone in my bed that early, and asked me to stay, so I said, "okay", and watched tv while she fell asleep):)
It was a nice warm and fuzzy evening!!!!:goodvibes

Kevin and Stephanie come home tonight - I'm picking them up from Midway :car:.
I'm a little nervous, because I've never driven to any airport - I've only been a passenger. I'm looking forward to getting Kevin, so he can drive home:)

TTTTiiigggernnn - Sorry, no more cleaning for awhile - I'm cleaned out :faint:

paint - I've misplaced my phone when it was on vibrate before - so frustrating!!!! I saw you did find it though, so that's good :)

ID - I hope you were able to get your cleaning done.
**Kevin and Steph are having a nice time, but Kevin is ready to come home. The temps are extrememly hot right now :sunny:, and he loves the kind of weather we are having. He says that he can tell that Stephanie is ready to come home too.

Bunchkin - I"m glad you had a good long weekend at DL :goodvibes
*Have you ever had the jumbelia (sp?) at HofB? It's so good!!!!!

chell - :welcome:
Please come by often and visit - we would love to get to know you!!!!:goodvibes

Kim, Mac, and HERSEY - :wave2:

It's about that time for me to go wake up Sleeping Beauty - I only give myself a 1/2 hour window to post in the morning.

Have a good day today!!!

:bday:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
DG!!!!

party:

:cake:I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating in WDW!!!!:smickey:

Hi gang! I have been super busy at work trying to do what needs to be done so I can go to WDW! Packing is pretty much done. Yea!

DG - Hope you are having fun! Happy Birthday and have fun at MNSSHP!

Slo - I work right by Midway. I could help you out sometime so you don't have to drive to the airport. You will be fine! Midway is easier than Ohare. Sounds like you and Katie had a great time together. I am sure Kevin and Stephanie did too. Wanna clean my house?

Mac - Have fun! Sorry our paths won't cross.

MJ - Welcome!

I am not trying to overlook anyone! I have you and your families in my thougths.

Gotta get home!
Lori

Let me tell you how stressed I was driving to the airport last night :headache:
I wanted to get off at Cicero, but I didn't realize that I had to be on the other side of the concrete median (construction). My GPS is telling me to get off, but I can't get over, because of the dang median. So, I miss my exit, and the GPS recalculates and tells me to go another 6 miles:headache: As I'm driving, I notice there are no breaks in the concrete median, so I miss that exit too:headache: Now the GPS is telling me to go another 8 miles:eek: I'm driving and driving and thinking how I'm never going to get to the airport. Finally the median ends, and now I'm desperatly looking for an exit. Finally, I end up past the big UPS place, and the GPS tells me to get off, and that expressway took me to the airport - thank God!!! My anxiety level was sky high (getting lost or driving in unfamiliar places really makes me nervous), and Kevin drove home. I got a few more grey hairs last night

It's nice to have Kevin and Stephanie home :goodvibes and they are glad to be home:goodvibes Our house is like Finding Nemo now - they brought home a crab from The Gulf of Mexico, and put it in our salt water aquarium. Everytime I look at him, I see a sad Nemo. I hope his family isn't frantically looking for him:upsidedow

momto1 - Thanks for the offer, and after last night, I may take you up on that offer:) I really need to get over this anxiety of mine. Before my GPS, I didn't drive anywhere unfamiliar. When I drove to our first meet in Lombard, that was a HUGE step for me - I was very nervous the whole time, but I did it:woohoo:

To everyone else - :wave2:

I'm not looking forward to waking up Stephanie this morning, because she was already begging me to stay home last night because she was so tired. She will be crabby today ::yes::

Have a good day!!!

Morning all! I made some pumpkin spice cookies last night (just from a mix) and the house still smells yummy. I am bringing them into work today since I sure don't need them hanging around the house. I stepped on the scale today, which I'd been avoiding for too long.:scared1: That's all I need to say. It has really crept up, too much!:sad2:
Slo- I can't stand the GPS. I don't trust it. It always seems like it's taking me the wrong way! I get really stressed, too, driving in a busy area I am not familiar with. You can always come and visit me, though. It is the easiest, boringest drive in the world. Staight down 55!
momto- Yay for WDW! My mom and sis are going this weekend, but I have to wait until Dec.!
DGal- Happy Bday! I am sure you are enjoying it. Hope you got lots of PD:wizard:!
MJ- Hi and welcome!
Bunchkin- That is so funny about dh! I could give someone a run for their money at WDW but I am clueless about DL.
Gotta run and spit shine the kids....picture day today!

Morning!!
DG, :bday:Hope you are having a wonderful celebration!!
Slo, I bet you are really glad to have your whole family home again. I don't like driving in busy, city traffic. I have to go to O'Hare today. I am so glad and so blessed that it isn't raining!
Paint, you could send some of those nice cookies this way!
Bunchkin, welcome home. Glad you had a nice time. I cannot believe you got Tony to wear that shirt. My DH would NEVER do that! :rotfl:
Welcome aboard MJ.
Hello Hersey. Toy Story 1 & 2 will be coming out in 3D for a 2 week run in October. Not sure if they gave the actual dates yet, though.
Hi KimRaye!
Mac and Momto1, are you ready to go? I know I leave in less than 4 weeks so you must be about ready to head out of here. Please be sure to give us the updates!!! And have a great time!
Well, better get to getting. I need to get the car washed before I go pick up my mom's friend to take her to the airport.

Hi gang! Did some more packing last night, got the hairs cut and colored, and then had dreams that I don't have things ready at home to leave.

DS took 7th in the cross country meet yesterday. His coach told him he needs to sleep more and eat better because he should be doing slightly better. Maybe he will listen now that it isn't his parents bugging him.

Slo - Big hug to you! I was so scared driving in the city traffic when I first moved up here from the farmland. So, I know how you felt! I am much better but really study up when I have to get someplace new.

Paint - The cookies sound yummy! I hope your coworkers enjoy them!

It is one of our Staff Appreciation Days at work today. Phone Bingo just started. So...I better get playing!

Lori

Thanks for all welcomes everyone! =)

slo...oh driving adventures. I drove for the first time in the city two weekends ago and that was an adventure. I had my GPS with me, and we still managed to get lost. Mostly because I couldn't remember if I wanted to go north or south on Lake Shore to get to Water Tower and I don't get GPS signal in the underground parking garages. My GPS is my savior, but it does lead me wrong and in weird directions...

Ugh I should probably go do my homework since I got home at 6 from volunteering and have work tomorrow night. Plus I need to get my run in for the night since I slacked off yesterday after interning and today is a training day. Gotta stay on track for the half next May...

Just saying hello from the motherland!! Thanks for the bday wishes! Have a wonderful day!

:bday: :cake:

out of the two M's you mentioned, this one is not packed or even close to being ready yet......

Hi guys! Wow, I can't believe it's Wednesday night already - the time just flies by!! Same old stuff going on around here - school, homework, dance, bball, etc. Tomorrow DD8 has her first Brownie meeting of the year. DD12 is running for Student Council, will be a tough go as there are only 11 spots for all of 7th and 8th grade. Election is tomorrow........

mac - I think it's time to pull out the old suitcase and get packin!

MJ - Welcome to the Thread!! I hear you on the GPS in the city, I have trouble getting a signal down there too!

momto1 - I have those dreams about not being ready before a trip too!
*Congrats to DS, hopefully he'll listen to his coach and get more sleep. It usually works better when they hear it from someone else rather than just "Mom".

Tiggerrn - I think TS 1&2 is due in theaters at the beginning of Oct, maybe even starting next weekend!

paint - yumm! Those cookies sound yummy! Did everyone at work like them?
*I have the same love/hate relationship with the GPS. Had it send me on a few round-about routes. Also had problems with Mapquest though too! :confused3

disneygal - hope you guys are having a GREAT time! Happy Birthday too!!

slo - so sorry you had such a tough time driving to Midway. Glad Kevin and Stephanie had a great trip!

Bunchkin - so glad you guys had a great time in DL! I could have never gotten DH to wear a birthday shirt. We went for our 10th anniversary and it was hard enough to get him to wear the pin let alone a whole shirt!

Well, I'm off to get the kids into bed. Have to catch up on Dancing With the Stars from last night before I watch the results show from tonight. Hope everyone has a great night! :flower3:

ETA: Just looked it up online and TS 1 & 2 double feature starts Oct. 2 and runs for 2wks only! Should we try for a meet?

.

This is my least favorite day of the week.
It's not to bad now, but it's always bad at night, because Stephanie has multiple tests on Fridays. I wish she could just study on her own, but she needs me to keep her on track. Keeping her on track though, means alot of frustration for me, because she doesn't want to study at all. I'm hoping it gets easier as the year progresses:rolleyes:.

DG - I hope you are having a great time!!!!:cool1:

paint - If I stepped on the scale, I think it would come out and slap me for letting myself go. I don't even want to think what the Wii Fit would say, or how my little screen girl would look like

TTTTTTTTTigerrnn - How was your trip to the airport?

momto1 - Phone Bingo.....What's that?
**I hope your son does better with his sleeping habits - teenagers don't understand exactly how much sleep they really need.

chell - Wow, it sounds like you have a lot on your plate!! Where do you volunteer?

Mac - :wave2:

ID - Good luck to your DD:wizard: I hope she makes the student council!!

It's time to get this day started - have a good day!!

i think someone did not start the diet with the rest of us back in february...

that's ok, we'll start it up again feb 2010...

and a very good thursday morning to all the chicagoland homies...:yay:

Morning all.
Slo, my trip to O'Hare was not the best ever but I survived it. I parked in international, only to get inside where I dropped her off to find out we were supposed to go to Terminal 3 as American Airlines is not in the international terminal.:eek:So, thank goodness I left extra early. We had to get on the airport train (like the monorail in Orlando)and take that over to term3. Thankfully a really nice attendant for AA saw us struggling with the luggage and my mom's friend walks with a wheeled cart. She tires easily and has very bad knees. So she helped her get checked in. Thank you Theodora!!
Leaving the airport, the exit to 294 from 190 is just after a merge lane, and the traffic was so full, I couldn't get off.:scared1:I ended up at the Allstate Arena, pulled into a hotel and had to ask how to get back to 294. Glad I don't get too excited!:rotfl: So that was my airport experience!!:lmao:
Hope everyone has a great day today. I thought the sun was supposed to be out.:confused3Better go walk the dog. He's pacing!!

Blah. It is a rainy day here. The perfect day to stay in bed! No such luck. Class all day!
mac- Feb. diet? I start a new diet every Monday!:rotfl2:
Slo- Wii Fit- don't have one but tried it at my sister's. DH was crushed to see his Wii guy balloon out and say he was overweight! There was no way I was getting on that thing in a room full of people!:lmao:
ID- Good luck to dd! Ds is on student council, but it wasn't a voting thing. It was random, if you wanted to be in it, your name got put in a hat, and ds got pulled. He told me he had all of his fingers crossed!
Tig- Cookies are gone but pumpkin pie is being made tonight! I had to buy a sugar pumpkin to bake because there is a pumpkin shortage- no cans!
momto- Hope you slept better. My WDW dreams involve being late for things...missing ADRs, getting to the parks an hour before closing, etc!

Meet...I am a pain. I did not know it was only for 2 weeks! I could only make it to Sunday the first weeked. It is too late for me to request off the Saturday and the following weekend ds and I are going on our archaeology dig.
