Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Thanks for the ideas and good wishes on my fundraising endeavors! If anybody would like the link to my Avon Walk page, please let me know and I will more than happily PM you the link!

Slo ~ Glad to hear Sophie doesn't need to go out first thing anymore. It's always nice to get just a few more winks of sleep in! :goodvibes

ID ~ congrats on the science fair projects! I bet DDs will be happy when they are over and done with! :upsidedow

Well, hope everyone has a wonderful day! :wave2:

hi macraven!

just posting on this board. hubby and I were born and raised in chicago, and still live in the area. hoping to move to florida sooner than later!

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:
smidgy!!

lots of chicagoland homies live here.
so glad you stopped in.

i hear orlando is colder than it has been in years.
but at least it is warmer there than here.

i'd be happy just to move 350 miles south of here......::yes::

don't be a stranger, come back and play here...

Mac - Do you have a favorite part of history? Mine is the 1800's - especially The Civil War time period. My family took me to Gettysburg when I was a teenager, and I was very moved by that placed. I enjoyed history before then, but at that moment, I went from not just enjoying it, but also respecting it, and embracing it.

The Civil War era is one of my favorites!

Mr Mac and myself are members of the Chicago charter of the Round Table.
It's an organizational that meets monthly downtown and has a guest speaker each time that talks and discusses different aspect of that time period.

They schedule tours for different parts of the country for all members to view and have private instructors on different battle fields. Gettysburg has been twice over the last 10 years.

We are doing the Kentucky battlefield tour in April.
It will be 6 days long and a lot of walking.
The tour bus will transport us to different areas involved.

I just love going over the areas where battles were fought and the involvement it had in the war.

Why don't you join the membership and do some of the meetings?
There is a dinner before each speaker which is optional. Some just come for the speakers.
You can find out about the best books on these lectures.

oh, and a very good cold morning to all the chicagoland homies out there! :wave2:

That is way cool about the civil war club.. I have taken the boys along Sherman's march to the sea. ..starting in TN..

Anyway,
I have learned a great deal about unemployment today.. I tried online and flunked.. so I had to go to the bank and get my ss card, and then find the Arlington Hts office.. just in case anyone ever needs to know it is by Meir's - actually on the street next to Meir's near the expressway..

so I applied and then sat and sat and sat.. they certify candidates at 1:15 and 3:30.. not inbetween.. so I sat and sat and sat.. but I am offically applied and now the search begins..

I always love Friday's so much!!!!:goodvibes

Stephanie came home complaining about not feeling well last night, so we'll have to see how she is this morning. I told her that if she doesn't have a fever she's going to school - she didn't seem happy:sad2: Personally, I think she doesn't want to go to school to take a test today, but I didn't tell her that - if I'm wrong I'll hurt her feelings, and if I'm right, then I don't want her altering her fakey ways :upsidedow

piglet - I've never been to The Cheesecake Factory, and I want to try it someday. I look forward to hearing how you like it. I hope you have a great Anniversary dinner:goodvibes

DG - I don't get any more sleep with not taking Sophie out, I just don't have to go outside in the cold first thing in the morning :cold: Luckily, she's always been an awesome sleeper, and has never woke me up to take her outside - she's so good :dog:

Mac - That group you are in sounds like something I would really enjoy:) My brother really enjoys this too, and maybe someday, when my girls are older, we can join with you. It would be a nice thing for him and I to do together - I would love to get to know my brother better:) Someday, I will be asking you for more information.

geffric - I'm glad you are applied now, and I'm sorry it was a hassle to get done:guilty: I will be thinking of you, and I hope you are able to find a new job quick.pixiedust:

Well, I must go and dye my hair - the greys are taking over:rolleyes:
Have a good day!!

I'm sure this is information you were glad you didn't have to know about before :grouphug: minus 1 hug. I hope your search is short lived.

Why are we going back into the deep freeze? Oh yes this is Chicago:faint:

I thought Florida would be warmer but I guess the magic can go only so far.

I need to go jump in the shower I didn't realize it was getting so late. I'll be back.

Good morning again!!!

I was just thinking - we may be approaching the cut off of this thread  If I remember correctly, I think the cutoff is 250 pages  CarolAnn, if you see this, will you please let me know if I"m correct. If I am, I will start a new thread when 250 approaches so we have a new home :goodvibes So please keep a look out for this.

Now I must go wash the hair dye out of my hair :teeth:

Have a good day!!

Morning all. I need to go back to really catch up, but wanted to say hello. Computer training classes went well. Really long and I have no idea how we will ever train all our co-workers in 4 hours what it took us 3 days to learn. :confused3 We'll work on figuring that all out next week.
I have a lot of :laundy: to catch up on now and I want to take out dear puppy for a walk today, since it is finally about freezing.:scared: He was a little troubled while I was away. Got into the laudry hamper and shredded some socks and undies. He wasn't selective of who's they were either.
We ate at RAMS and Cheesecake Factory our 2 nights out. Both were really good. I didn't get to shop much at Woodfield.:sad2: And missed the DTD Store completely. Guess I'll have to go again.
When we arrived at our hotel, we about died! It was totally under construction and no one had let us know. The lobby was down to the studs. We walked in after our first long day of class and looked around thinking "What's the deal with this?!" But the rooms were all redone and were nice enough. So we stayed and dealt with the lobby mess.

geffric, sorry to hear about the layoff. I hope you find something really soon.:grouphug:

Well, I had better get pup out for his walk. Kids only have a half day today and want to go spend some of their Christmas money this afternoon. DS wants a Star Wars Lego set and DD wants some Webkinz cards. I guess I'll take them out to shop.
I'm going to go catch up first.

Happy FRIDAY Everyone!! :flower3: Just stopping by quickly b/c I need to order my dad's bday gift before I start doing my work! :rotfl: So :wave2: hope everyone has a wonderful day! Stay warm this weekend it's supposed to get really chilly again!

slo, yes the cut off is 250 pages.

the dis won't suddenly stop the thread but you will need to make a new thread around the 250 page mark.

i just did a continuation on my thread and this time i did it at page 247.
we move fast and now on thread #6. last time i went to page 262 before i started a new thread.

i have a link put in my threads to click on to get to the new thread each time.

i asked a mod to help me out with that and the mod did!

geffric, i'm glad you are now registered.
most of those places you mentioned are so busy on mondays and fridays.
you have all the leg work done now.

i think we need to move to canada for warmer weather......
:wave2: hey to all i missed including, hersey, tttttttttiiiiigern, disneygal, irish d, and missing in action Bunchkin.......and everyone else.

did everyone forget the start of our diet day???

can someone remind me on the day we decided on.....:scratchin

H gang! TGIF! Not much planned for the weekend - grocery shopping tonight and ds has a basketball game tomorrow. Oh...and of course, cleaning the house.

Slo - Thanks for the heads up on the thread. I would have lost all of you guys and wondered what happened!

Mac - the civil was thing sounds cool. DH and I did a lot of battlefields before ds came along. It was really fun. We have done one battlefield with ds and it wasn't so fun. Maybe now that he is older.

Geffric - Bummer about the job. I hope you will find one fast. DH did the unemployment thing when his company was sold. It worked real smooth updating the job search over the phone and then getting the debit card refilled with the money. Good luck!

Hi to everyone else. Have a good weekend and I will check back in on Monday. Stay warm!
Lori

Hi guys! T.G.I.F.!! Looking forward to the weekend but not the weather! Don't have much planned. Two Irish dance teacher friends are coming into town for a meeting, I'll pick them up at the airport tonight, go to dinner and then drop them at their hotel. Can't decide where to take them for dinner though. We all love Italian so I was thinking either Frankie Scaloppine or pizza (Uno, Malnatis, etc). Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Saturday is completely free and open - yes! Sunday is the kick off for Catholic Schools week so after church we'll go see all the Science Fair projects on display in the gym. They'll have open houses this week where you can go in and observe during school. At the end of the week I think they have a luncheon for the teachers.

smidgy - Welcome! Come by often to chat!

slo - Science Fair at the girls' school is NOT optional. Up through 4th grade their projects are fairly simple and for the most part done in school. They start with the research paper end of it in 5th grade. This year for DD11 in 6th grade was almost exactly the same as what she'll have to do next year when they are judged, that's the 'big' year. DD11 just isn't into science as much, if she could do a research paper for Social Studies then she'd be all set, she too loves history.
*I hope Stephanie is feeling OK, my DD7 is the queen of "my stomach hurts" or "I have a headache" in the mornings. ;)

piglet - enjoy your dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. DH and I went there for lunch once, the food was great but the portions are HUGE. Even the people at the table net to us were chuckling at the size of my salad! Be sure to save room for the best part - dessert!

mac - that organization sounds so interesting. I'll have to remember that for my DD11 for when she's older.
*Diet.....what diet.....:hyper:

geffric - I bet you're glad that 'experience' is over, don't you love our government's efficiencies. ;)

Tiggerrn - welcome back, glad your training went well.

disneygal - Happy Birthday to your dad!

:wave2: to everyone else!! Hope everyone is having a great Friday!!

Does anybody know anything about Paypal??? I ordered my dad's bday gift this morning from a very specific website he gave me. He makes model tanks and armored cars as a hobby.... anywho, he wanted some very specific models. So I ordered them and said I'd pay with PayPal. Well, it gave me my order number and whatnot told me to click the paypal link to complete my payment. Well, when I did I got an error of somesort. I tried going back to the website. When I look in my order it says "unbilled" and "unshipped" When I go to Paypal's website it doesn't show an activity. Does anybody have any experience with Paypal? Should I email the store? I usually get an invoice from paypal instantaneously.... it's just weird. :confused3

Greetings.. well today was fun.. worked out, went on errands, came home ate ice cream ( no body was here so they won't know.. LOL:goodvibes )

I am going to clean.. really clean ;) one room at a time.;) I have worked since I was 16. with the only time off was when my kids were little, then I took a few years off.. so I need to clean 10 years of dust and dirt from the places I never get. Worked on my desk.. and now to work on the internet for a while as a break :surfweb: then back to my desk.. WHO moved the smilies?? Anyway This weekend both boys are doing scout related things and will be gone .. so DH and I are going over the finances and set a different budget that reflects the laid off status.. :sad1: good thing the vacation this year is booked with points and the military tickets are boughtso that will not be in 'can do without ' pile.. plus my trip in October.. points used and AP bought and paid for..so those will be okay.. the rest?:confused3

MAC - are we dieting yet? The ice cream was lite.. so it isn't too bad..:thumbsup2

DISneygal I know nothing about paypal.. when we use it it is tied to DHs credit card so the thing just goes through..sorry I can't help..

irish dancer - i love Lou's and there are things to get besides the pizza..:)

SLO did stephanie go to school??

It usually goes right through for me too b/c it's tied to my debit card AND a credit card. I just thought the whole situation is weird. :confused3

1. When you are done with your house, i'll hire you to do mine.

2. i think the diet really begins Feb 15th, the day after candy day.

disneygal, i don't know if i said it, but since i am older i am allowed to repeat myself......;) .......... wishing your dad a very happy birthday...

Hi all!!

I've been trying to read up on our thread here and there.

DD is at a Girl Scout meeting right now. And DS is playing Wii Sports baseball.

Lots of history buffs here!! Me too!! :thumbsup2
Love going to historical places, watching stuff about history, etc.
Last summer the furnace was acting up in the middle of the night, Dh and I got it running ok but it took a little while. We sat down on the couch for a bit to have a drink of water and turned on the tv. We ended up staying up till 3:30am watching a History Channel show about Abe Lincoln!!! It was soooo interesting, and long, and filled with info we had never heard of before that we just couldn't quit watching and go to back to bed!!! :)

geffric Sorry to hear you've been laid off. Didn't you just switch to this job this past year? Th unemployment office is the worst!!! Don't even bother calling your local office for help or with questions, they won't answer and they never call back!!! :rolleyes2
Hope there is a new job for you soon!! ::yes::

slo Hope Steph wasn't too sick to go to school.
I need to color my hair SOOOO bad. I have the box of coloring on my bathroom counter, but just haven't had the time this week to do it! I think I will tomorrow morning. Silly question....How do you rinse your hair out? I always kneel at the bathtub and rinse it out. We have shower heads with the long hoses on them. It's such a hassle ...and hard on the knees. :rotfl:

mac I think your Civil War group sounds really neat-o!!

Gotta run!! Time to go pick up DD.

Hi to all!!

I"m up early this morning because we are going to Indianapolis for the day :car:
We are going to go to a museum downtown and The Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum, and then come home. We are trying to do different things that don't cost much money, and we thought this may be a nice family day.

Tiiigernn - I"m glad your class went well, and I'm sorry about the puppy ruining some clothes - not good :sad2: All dogs love underwear though - I don't get it:crazy2:

DG - I hope you got your PayPal issues worked out. If I knew something I would help, but if this happened to me I would be yelling, "K E V I N !!!!!" He helps me on all this stuff, that I don't know what I would do if something happened to him.

Mac - Thanks for the verifying the 250 pages:) I thought that sounded like the magic number. That's a good idea about starting a new one before that - I will definitly do that when we get a little closer :hourglass

momto1 - I haven't attempted to take my girls to any battlefields, but they will definitly go when they are older. I bet your son will start enjoy this now that he is older, and has learned some about it in school :)

ID - In a way, I think it's good that the Science Fair is mandatory, so your kids learn how to put a project together. I could have forced Stephanie to do one, but we would have been arguing so much, and I didn't want that. If the school made it mandatory, than the arguing wouldn't have been as much, because she HAD to do it for school. What are your kids science fair projects about?
**Where did you go for dinner? I LOVE Italian!!!!!:goodvibes

geffric - Yes, Stephanie did go to school today ::yes:: She didn't complain in the morning, and I didn't ask (because as soon as I would ask, she would start the drama - she's really great at drama:rolleyes: )Thanks for asking.
**Good luck with the cleaning. I always get so grossed out when I clean somewhere that's not easy to get to, and I find all the dust and grime:crazy2: Speaking about this makes me realize that I need to pull out my stove and fridge this winter, and clean behind that.

Bunchkin - I would have loved that Abe Lincoln show:) I will have to look at that channel and see if they are replaying it - what was the title of the show and how long was it, so I know what to look for.
**I rinse out my hair dye when I take my shower. All my shower heads are on a hose, but I have never done it this way. With my hair being long, I would end up getting hair dye all over the place  This is why I always dye my hair early in the morning, so I can just incorporate it into my shower:thumbsup2

Well, I need to go take out Sophie :dog: and then get into the shower.
Have a great day today everyone!!

Good morning! Boy it is cold out there.

Slo Have fun today and stay warm

Mac I think Feb 15 is good we need the extra layer of fat. For warmth;)

Today is a fun filled day of chores and running around :laundy:
