Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I was going to go to the gym last night! I was all excited on the train, then i got off the train and was like "holy cow, no way, waaaaaaaaaay too cold" so I went home and played Wii Fit instead! :rotfl:

Paint ~ I'm very sorry to hear about your gma. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day! :clown: (never seen this guy before so I needed to use hime):clown: He looks like an oompa loompa with the orange pants and green hair! :)

Oh yeah, my sister and I are doing the Avon Walk again this year and need to come up with fundraising ideas. Anybody have any? In order to walk you are required to raise $1800.00 each. So if anybody would has any ideas that could help us raise $$$$ it would greatly be appreciated!

Now...my Gma passed away yesterday morning. Wake and funeral Wed. and Thur. in the 'burbs. I have to do a reading. Please keep me in your thoughts that I can keep it together long enough to read at the church.
Bleh...you know how sometimes you don't want to go to work, school, etc? I don't want to go to life this week!

Paint, i'm so sorry your g'ma has passed.
keeping you in my prayers.

when you love someone, it's not easy to adjust to the idea when they leave this world. it changes everything in our lives and sometimes, change is so hard to do.

you will do fine with the reading at the services.
you will get through it and have peace with it.

Paint- so sorry to hear your Gma passed away. Prayers and thoughts for you and your family :grouphug:

Hi gang! Back from cabin camping. We had fun and stayed warm. DS got to snowboard twice and had a lot of fun with it. If he is going to do it more often, he needs a better snowboard. Some nice teenage boys were giving him hints and telling him his board was too hard because it made his feet stationary. Huh?

Paint - So sorry to hear about the passing of your grandma. Prayers for you and your family. You will do fine on the reading!

Thanks for the Mall Cop and Bride Wars reviews. DS wants to see Mall Cop. I doesn't not look like anything I want to spend my money to see. Maybe he and dh can wait and watch on DVD sometime when I am gone.

Just a quick "hi" today. See you all later.
Lori

Hi guys! Had so many plans for today with everyone back to school and work but I've spent most of the day watching the Inauguration. I find the ceremony and history extremely interesting.

paint - so very sorry to hear about the loss of you grandma, condolences and prayers for you and your family. I did a reading at my uncle's funeral and my recommendation is do not make eye contact, I know you're supposed to when you read but I found it easer to focus without looking out at everyone.

Off to change the laundry and pick up the kids from school. Have a great day everyone! :joker:

My SIL did one of these and she held a spaghetti dinner at her local community center. She sent out invites and posted flyers for it. She lives too far for me to have attended, but she said she made out pretty well. She had lots of help from her family as well.

I had The Inaugeration on all morning and all afternoon - I love watching these type of things. When I first went to college, I went in as a history major, and I really wanted to be one of those historians you see on tv. But, when I knew I would be marrying Kevin, I decided to not do that, because I had no idea where that profession would take me, if it would even take me to tv. So, whenever I can learn more about history, and watch history being made, I love love watching!!!

paint - So many hugs to you!!!  I am so sorry to hear about your Grandma:sad1: I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, and whenever you need to talk, we are here for you!!! :grouphug:

DG - I will try and think of something to do for a fund raiser. Do you belong to a church? If so, and if you know your priest well, could you ask him to do a second collection for you? Do you anyone that sells Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, etc? Could you ask them to do a party, and then part or all the proceeds could go to The Avon Walk?

Mac, ID and Rose - :wave2:

momto1 - I'm glad you had a nice time at the cabin:)

Well, I must go get Stephanie up for school - have a good day!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I'm ready for the weekend. It's been a long week already!

Smacky ~ I never thought of a Spaghetti Dinner! That's a GREAT idea! Thanks! :goodvibes

Slo ~ I do belong to a church but would feel bad asking to do another collection b/c they already do so many. Also, I love history too! I was going to be a history major but then decided on music. I figured there wasn't a high demand for historians. :rotfl:

Well, have a wonderful day everyone! :flower3:

Hi gang! I woke up with a sinus headache today. Bleck! And it my one night every two months to work late.

Slo - I was going to be a history major, too! I wanted to be a History Teacher. Then my first professor in college was such a snoozer, I couldn't stand it. I went to a small private college and would have had him for most of my classes. So...I swiched to psychology.

DG - Good luck on fundraising. Do they provide you with a website link where people can make donations. I know I have seen that for other types of walks.

Enjoy this somewhat warmer weather!
Lori

oh no !!!!!!!

you'll only have a 2 week penalty won't you since it is a layoff?

my son went thru that and that is how his was set up last year when it happened to him.

you should get a decent amount on the ucb.
no transportation costs or work lunches to be spent.

hopefully you will find what you want real soon.
in the meantime, relax a few days before you start hitting the job searching.
there is a job out there that has your name on it geffric....

and when you you get hired somewhere, be sure to ask off for that october time period...:rolleyes1

I am going to have to have the October trip off as I have a free ticket that is non refundable.. so..:rolleyes2

Hi guys! Hallelujah, the Science Fair project is finally done!! DD, DH and I finished up the display board tonight and DD went through the whole report to make sure it was all in order. The good thing is their school breaks up all the parts and has individual deadlines so it doesn't all get put off until the end. DD7s diorama and report for Science Fair aren't due until Fri, her diorama is finished but she need to re-write the report.

geffric - I'm so sorry to hear about your layoff. I hope you find something even better very quickly.

slo - I watched it all day too, I loved all the parts where they'd talk about the different presidencies and how things differed and were the same and all the traditions going back. I must confess though I'm getting a bit tired of all the re-hashing and analyzing of it all again today and would like to move on now. ;)

disneygal - wow, I had no idea you had to fundraise that much to participate. I've seen the commercials and thought maybe I'd look into it but that is a lot to come up with. Good luck!

momto1 - I hope you're feeling better! Sinus headaches are the WORST!

:wave2: to everyone else!

Well, I'm going to check my emails and go to bed. Have a great night everyone!

hi macraven!

just posting on this board. hubby and I were born and raised in chicago, and still live in the area. hoping to move to florida sooner than later!

I don't have to take Sophie :dog: out anymore first thing in the morning, and it's really great!!!!:) She never wants to go out first thing in the morning - I would literally have to pull her out of her cage. So, I finally decided to leave her in there (I started that Tuesday) and she's perfectly fine with that. I really hated taking her out right after being in a warm bed, so I'm thrilled - she's such a good little puppy!!!!!:goodvibes

DG - After I posted about the 2nd collection, I thought it wasn't a great idea:sad2: If the church did it for you, than they would have to do it for others, and before you know it, there's a 2nd collection every week. The spagetti dinner is a great idea, and a pancake breakfast would work too ::yes::

momto1 - I tossed the idea about being a history teacher too, and then I decided against it (I can't remember why). Before I had Katie, I went back to school for my teaching degree, and I took a couple of classes (then I got pregnant). If the teaching program at the local college wasn't so long, I would have probably stuck to it, but I kept hearing people complain about how long it took with full time students, that I decided to not pursue it (by the time I'd finish, it would be time to retire:rotfl: ).

Mac - Do you have a favorite part of history? Mine is the 1800's - especially The Civil War time period. My family took me to Gettysburg when I was a teenager, and I was very moved by that placed. I enjoyed history before then, but at that moment, I went from not just enjoying it, but also respecting it, and embracing it.

geffric - So many hugs to you!!!!
I am so very sorry about you being laid off  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you will find something very soon, and that it will be something you enjoy
**I'm a marketing and management major - I love the marketing part of my major ::yes::

ID - That's great your kids are doing the Science Fair. Stephanie had an opportunity to do the Science Fair, but she decided not to. I told her that I would be thrilled to help her with it, if she wanted to do it, and would not fight me to work on it. But if she was going to give me a hard time, and the Science Fair would be one big battle, than to not do it. She was honest, and said she really didn't want to do it, and she would probably fight me on getting it done - I was glad she was honest!!!

smidgy - :welcome:
Welcome to our happy thread!!! Please come by and visit - we would love to get to know you!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I gotta go get ready for work - I have a lot to do, and need to get in early today (which is a great thing for me to say in January!!!!). Have a great day today everyone!!!

Paint ~ I am so sorry to hear about your grandma, you and your family are in my thoughts today.

geffric ~ I hope you will be able to find something new right away. What is it you do again?

I am another who thought about majoring in history and being a teacher. My favorite time period was early America. I also enjoyed medieval times as well as Russian history.

Thanks for some ideas for my dinner tomorrow night. (I did do a typo though, we are celebrating 16 years, not 15.) As of right now, I think we are going to try The Cheesecake Factory in Oak Brook and then go to IKEA in Bolingbrook for some shopping.
