Calling all Chicago DISers #2

Morning all. Been outside already and shoveled the drive and the deck. The dog had a blast running through the drifts. I threw him his ball for a bit and he just loves to dig it out of the snow piles.
Now I need to jump in the shower and head to work for a bit to take some tests.
Just found out when DD ballet group is returning to Orlando. Looks like I will get to celebrate my birthday at WDW!!:woohoo: I had better get on the site and register my birthday so I can qualify for the freebies. What should I pick? Won't need the free ticket. So the gift card, the fastpasses, what do you all think?
Got the gas bill. Not as bad as I feared. only $150. So now Slo, I really feel :scared1: for you and your bill. There must be something wasting energy in your house someplace. Any rooms in your lower level you don't go into often that you could close off the vents? I close off the toy room (kids don't play in there much anyway) and DH office. He is a couch potato and his office isn't set up well anyway for him to use. The computer is in the kitchen upstairs so it doesn't make much sense to heat that.
DG, I totally understand spreading out your expenses. Plus, that will leave you more free cash for the honeymoon!
Mac, you burried up there? We missed the blizzard here. I prayed hard for that.
Well, I had better jump in the shower and get moving.
Later all.

good tuesday morning chicagoland homies ! :goodvibes

16.gif

i'm the homie in the blue sharing my snow w/ those that didn't get much........

TTTTTTTigernnnnn, so you were the one that prayed hard for me to get the snow........hmmm

but, on a better note, congrats on going to the motherland on your birthday.
i say get the gift card.
(buy me a gift with it.......):rolleyes1

and buy something for yourself that is kewl.

what dates will you be there?

today, i really need to tidy up the dump here.
i'm sure i can spare the hours for the job.
when you are penned in the house, it is hard to get motivated to do the cruddy jobs inside the house.
then, when it gets really nice outside, you don't want to spend the day in the house to do the jobs you put off for ages.

some days i just can't win.....

Hi gang! Only 2 or so inches of snow. Not too bad. And,thankfully, the blizzard spared us today. But what about tomorrow.

School is on as usual today.

I have the budget plan for the gas bill so it only gets adjusted once a year. But my December electric bill was double what it should have been! I didn't look at the actual useage. I will when I pay the bill. I din't have any outdoor holiday lights so that couldn't have raised it. I have heard others comment that their electric was higher, too.

Tiggerrn2 - Congrats on being at WDW on your bday! I say go with the gift card. My mil will be there on her bday for our April trip and I am encouraging her to get the gift card.

DG - Congrats on getting the photographer you wanted. It sounds like the big day is coming together perfectly.

Mac - Good luck doing the cruddy jobs. If you need a break from yours - and can get un-snowbound, I have some too.

See you all later.
Lori

Morning guys! No late start or snow day around here much to the kids dismay. ;) DH and I go to the dentist this afternoon for a regular cleaning and then we'll be holed up inside tonight during the deep freeze.

DS is back to his completely normal self so we're all healthy (knock on wood).

Tiggerrn - glad your DS is back to normal, hopefully he didn't "share" his bug with any of the rest of you.
*Did you finish your book?
**My dog is the opposite of yours, I'm lucky if I can get her to the end of the driveway before she starts pulling back toward the house. She starts shivering before we even get outside!
***Congrats on going to WDW for you BD! I'd vote for the gift card as well. The fastpass only gives you 4 fastpasses, two from each 'category'.

slo - ugh, sorry about your washing machine.
*All I have to say about your NIPSCO bill is....:scared1: . I keep reading about people with big bills and keep asking DH how our bill is, so far Dec. is the highest at $150 so not too bad I guess. I hope the thermostat move helps.
**We're having a lot of fun with our Wii, I'll have to check out that Disney game. Sounds like something we'd love.

Dan - :wave2: Hope you're staying warm!

mac - I do not envy you the snow, they're reporting that after tomorrow's snow we'll have reached our yearly average for snowfall!!
*thanks for the listings

geffric - congrats on booking a WDW trip!! Nothing better to beat the winter blues than planning a WDW trip!

piglet - congrats on finding a Wii. Have fun with it!!

momto1 - I've got a few things packed and we're ready for the van anytime, just swing by and we'll toss our things in.
*Your ADRs look good, we're trying Biergarten and Plaza on our June trip for the first time. I look forward to hearing your reviews.

disneygal - congrats on booking your photographer! It's great to get things done in advance.

Well, I need to grab some lunch and hop in the shower so I'm ready to leave for the dentist when DH comes to pick me up. Have a great day everyone! Stay warm!!! :flower3:

Evening all. I forgot I have a PTO meeting tonight, too. Thought I'd have a relaxing evening at home to finish my book, but looks like it will have to be returned a little late.:rolleyes1
Mac, I prayed for the blizzard to miss me, but I didn't say I wanted it to get you. I'd never wish this puffy stuff on anyone!
The ballet trip will be over the weekend of October 16th-18th. They are not sure if they will arrive early and stay til the 19th or arrive the 16th and stay through the 21st. Whatever they decide, I plan to arrive the 15th and stay through the 22nd. I will have to work Fri the 23rd so will have to return Thurs. night. I am hoping for a Halloween party the 20th. Will spend the 21st (my birthday) between AK and MK most likely. You usually go in Oct. Any chance you will be there over those dates?
ID glad to hear your DS is feeling better once again.
Better run and fix myself up a bit before the meeting. Later.

Did I miss the truck yet to WDW?

I hope everyone is keeping warm. I'll bet you someone will have his coat zipped today.:rolleyes1

Slo I hope you get your gas bill under control. Maybe Sophie is having parties while you are away and her friends have the heat up?;)

This is definitely going to be a day where I bring a warm cup of joe with me on my thankfully 10 minute commute.

I feel so bad for Kevin and anyone else that has to drive far to work. This weather is just awful, and driving is so stressful for those that have to go far:headache: So for any of you that drive far - take it slow, and be safe!!!:wizard: For us that don't drive far, we still need to slow and safe, but at least we don't have to do it for 2+ hours :faint:

geffric - I bet the boys enjoyed being the tour guide, as much as the girls enjoyed having them - how fun!!!! I hope my girls are able to have such fun memories when they are older.

piglet - I was thinking of putting Animal Crossing in Stephanie's Easter basket - I'm glad to hear a good review:)

DG - Planning early is very good. I started planning my wedding 2 years before the date, and I was able to get everything I wanted:thumbsup2 Heck, there were a couple businesses that I signed up services with before they had a 1995 calendar - this made me a little nervous. If you do anything like that, make sure you call them every 6 months to make sure they still have you down and didn't forget or misplace you.

TTTTiiiiigggernnnnn - How fun to celebrate your bday in WDW:banana: I would love that!!!!!:goodvibes
**There shouldn't be any energy wasted anywhere because we just had new siding, windows, and new furnace installed in the spring. I hoping now that what Kevin and his dad did with the thermostat will help this situation, because these bills are awful!!!!!:headache:

Mac - I totally agree with what you said about the chores ::yes:: I hope you were able to get your work done. Sometimes the littlest chores are the hardest ones to get done, and then after it's done, you say to yourself, "that wasn't so bad, why did it take me so long to do that". This happens to me all the time!!!

momto1 - I'm thinking about doing the budget plan too ::yes:: My summer months are always high too, because we are running the pool, pool heater (not all the time) and air conditioner. It would be nice to spread the costs out throughout the year:thumbsup2

ID - I need to make a dentist appointment for me - it's been forever since I went (embarrassingly long) I love my dentist, and I keep forgetting to go. I'm taking my girls Feb 2, so I will make an appointment then, and then I need to make an appt for 6 months from then when I am there - this way I have no excuses!!!!

HERSEY - So this explains all the odd foot prints on my kitchen floor:rolleyes:
5.gif

Well, it's time to go workout - it's so hard to get motivated to workout when you are cold and want to go back to bed. I can hardly wait for the time change and some warmer weather so I can go out and walk again - I miss it so much!!!!

Have a good day!!!

I forgot to pray for no snow last night!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mac, I guess paybacks are you know what!:rotfl2:
Been out and shoveled the drive and deck already this am.
Need to jump in the shower and get my mom to the Dr. this morning. I am suprised she hasn't called to cancel yet.
Just wanted to fly by quick. Need to run. I'll check in later.;)

Ugh......... too much snow...................:crazy2: however, I get to leave work 2 hours early today. I'm heading out to Lombard to help my sister with this event she planned for work. It's called WOMEN ROCK! I fear that with the weather there won't be much of a turn out and I feel terrible about that b/c she has put so much hard work into it! Soooo, yeah, boooooo snow. I'm so ready to just pick up and go to Disney...

Hi gang! For all of you waiting for my moving truck - I guess it is snowbound or maybe the battery won't start with the freezing cold weather. Boo..hoo...

I was able to rebook my Easter Southwest fares yesterday saving a grant total of $374. So I have a credit with Southwest. I asked DH to search for a long weekend somewhere warm and soon!

We had school on time today. I was surprised since we had almost 6 inches of snow or so. I hope religious ed gets cancelled for tonight. I just don't want to deal with the snow and cold.

DG - I hope your sisters event turns out as planned. It is a bummer working so hard for something that doesn't turn out great. Have fun with her!

Slo - I will be heading by your neck of the woods on Friday. We are going for our annual winter cabin camping weekend at Potato Creek State Park. Not sure how dh will snake our way over as I am sure it will depend on the weather.

Better get back to work. Stay warm and be safe!
Lori

Afternoon all. Back for the Dr. and shoveling mom's drive and coming home to shovel mine again!! 3 shovels in 1 day is just so wrong!!!!!:cold:
My legs have yet to regain any feeling.
momto1, sure wish that truck would get unstuck!!
Hope everyone is safe and warm and tucked away. Have to go to pick up the kids from school shortly.
Later

remember to include the wind chill in your next prayer of no snow.....

rats, i'll be missing you in october.
i do the motherland for the beginning of my trip and then move over to the darkside for the remainder.

i'll be missing you by days........i return home on tuesday the 13th. i always try to return on columbus day or the day after.
parks start to get too crowded for me after that time period.

but one homie here will be there when i am.
i find that really exciting!

I forgot to pray for no snow last night!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mac, I guess paybacks are you know what!:rotfl2:
Been out and shoveled the drive and deck already this am.

someone needs a flogging..........
jk
get on the stick and on your knees and beg for no more snow.
see above response to your post. include the wind chill please...:goodvibes

i hope your sister's event does have a good turn out.
all the hard work she has put into it and then weather issues to disappoint the event.

hey homie Momto1: i have a credit card. go buy that moving truck a new battery and pick me up by 5:00 please.

Hi guys! Well, I didn't WiiFit today but I did shovel the front walk and tried digging out the end of the driveway where the plow insists on dumping more and more snow so I'm counting that as my exercise for today. ;)

Just a quick drive by now, dd7 has hip hop tonight and dd11 has basketball so I've got to get them to get their homework done before dinner. Speaking of dinner, wonder what I'm going to fix. :rotfl:

momto1 - bummer on the moving van, will be waiting anxiously once it does get around. ;)
*Congrats on the savings with SW!! We have free plane tix from our Oct trip and I'm so tempted to use them for something and then just drive for our June trip but I know I shouldn't.

slo - I hadn't been to the dentist in years  but all went well. No cavities but the gums were a little painful last night after all the scraping and flossing.

disneygal - I hope your sister's event goes well. I'm out that way and the snow isn't too bad around here, I hope it is successful!

Tiggerrn - I agree, shoveling 3x in one day is just so wrong. Hope you can get some relaxing in tonight!

:wave2: to everyone else. I have to run and try to figure out what to do with the chicken for dinner....something easy I think. ;)

Have a great night everyone, stay warm! :flower3:

WOW it is cold out there. I don't think I'll ever get used to Chicago winters even if I life to be one hundred.

Hopefully everyone is staying in and staying warm.

Slo How was Kevin's drive. Mine was slow and slippery, but then again I don't have to drive far.

Just hoping any of you coming home aren't held up by the derailed Amtrak train at Union Station. Stay warm friends!:grouphug:

:yay:
but one homie here will be there when i am.
i find that really exciting!
.

:woohoo: ;) :hippie: :dance3: :cheer2:

I drove to Champaign today.. what a mess.. It took so long to get onto 57 from 294.. it was stop and go but mostly stop..I left at 6:15 am and got to champaign at 11 am.. :scared1: they way back I thought I'd be smart and took 80 to 355.. slow but not impossible ..

still need to shovel the drive but I am not moving..

Today is my anniversay.. 19 years.. I made a tuna noodle casserole for DH he was happy.. we are going out Sat to celebrate.. i keep thinking that last year we were at WDW for our anniversay and went to Le Cellier to celebrate,,,, what a difference a year makes..

happy anniversary geffric!

i think tuna casserole is very good for a special occasion.
glad he liked it.

Geffric Happy anniversary

Surprise surprise they closed the school today. At least I don't have to worry about Alex waiting for the bus.

It sounds like the south burbs and Indiana got socked with the snow. I hope everyone is safe.

Well I better load up on coffee and get moving. Cause no one called me to tell me work was cancelled :rolleyes1

School was cancelled today. So, I guess Stephanie is coming to work with me today - I'm not sure how she will feel about that yet - she's still sleeping. I wish I didn't have to go out, but I really need to go to work. Not only do I have orders to work on, but I also have alot of paperwork to get together for taxes. So, I do have alot to do today ::yes::

Tiiiggerrrnnnn - We really got a decent amount of snow yesterday didn't we?! I was surprised with how much it kept coming down. I shoveled the driveway twice, before work, and then Kevin snowblowed after work. Last year and this year, is the most amount of snow we've had in a long long time.

DG - How did your sister's event go?

momto1 - Congrats on your money savings!!:cheer2:
**Where is Potato Creek? I've heard of it, but I don't know where it is.

Mac - We can use my credit card too - let's just get outta here!!!!!!:thumbsup2

ID - I'm glad I'm not the only one that's neglected my teeth:) I hope when I go that I have no cavities:wizard: (that's PD for myself:rotfl: )

HERSEY - Kevin's drive is always a nightmare with this weather. It took him 2hrs and 15 minutes to get to work yesterday morning, and he said that coming home wasn't as bad. I'm hoping today will not be as bad for him. Thanks for asking.

geffric - Happy Anniversary to your and your DH:goodvibes Where are you going to celebrate on Saturday?

Well, it's time to get ready for work - have a good day today, and please stay warm!!!

Hi all-
No school by me either. Chrissy is very happy! This is her :yay:

Geffric- Happy Anniversary to you and Scott! :flower3:
