It looks like it's going to be a pretty nice day today :sunny:

For all those that are cooking - are you ready??????
I baked my cookies and brownies last night, and the rest I will start when I come home from church. I didn't make a pumpkin pie this year, because I just didn't have the time, so I am picking that up at Bakers Square after church. Kevin will do the turkey, and I will make the sweet potatoes and corn pudding:thumbsup2 Kevin is making a stuffing this year that has White Castles in them. I'm very interested to see how it tastes. His parents are bringing traditional stuffing, so if the White Castle stuffing is awful, we will still have stuffing today :thumbsup2 I will let you know how this new stuffing tastes, and give the receipe if anyone wants it.

I still need to do a little cleaning today, but not much, since it's just our parents coming over. I'll clean the bathrooms, and that's about it. I was going to vaccuum everything, but then I asked myself, "Why should I, when I have to vaccuum again tomorrow after we drag the Christmas boxes out for Christmas tree #2?" So I"m going to wait and just do it Friday night or Saturday afternoon:)

DG - Good luck with getting everything done:wizard: Our parents will be here around 1/1:30 too, and I am also hoping to have everything done. Luckily though, if I don't, I won't mind cooking when they are there, they won't care.
I also like the Macy's parade, but I don't know how much I'll see of it this year, because church starts at 9am, and then I have to pick-up the pie afterwards. I may just catch Santa at the end:santa:

ChloroFiend - :wave2:

Mac - My comcast box acts up sometimes - it's an ongoing problem!!!! Do you have digital cable? It's our digital cable box that gives us alot of problems - it's very annoying!!!!!:headache:

Bunchkin - I know you didn't take your kids, because you and I have the same opinions on alot of things when it comes to raising children. I didn't get that far in the movie - it was to bad for me to continue. I think that this movie just replaced my least favorite movie of all time - Who Framed Roger Rabbit. For all those that like that movie - no offense, but I can't stand it!!!!!
**Have a great dinner today!!!! :goodvibes I bet the food will be awesome!!!!:goodvibes
**Thanks for the congrats to Stephanie. I'm going to be as supportive as I can about her playing this sport, because she really enjoys it, plus, all that running is good for her. She is so energetic that anything slow isn't good for her (this is why I took her out of ballet). I always thought gymnastics would be good for her, and she used to be very good at it, but even that is a little to slow for her. But when she plays basketball, she can release that energy, with all that running, and it's very very good for her!!!!! It's good for me too, because she goes to bed really easily the night of her games:laughing:

HERSEY - Yowzers!!!!! That's alot of money$$$$$ Good luck with finding a way to make this more affordable:wizard: It's a shame that it's that much money, because many kids who would love to participate, won't be able to:guilty:

geffric - :wave2:

Well, I better get going and get ready for church, and I'm going to need to get Stephanie up too (she won't be happy:sad2: ). Once she's at church she'll be fine - it's just the getting up and getting ready that she won't like.

Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to my Chicago friends! :thumbsup2 I hope you all have a great day. :sunny:

Happy Thanksgiving and many blessings to all here on the Chicago DIS boards!

Enjoyed all the Thanksgiving pics :thumbsup2

Mac - My comcast box acts up sometimes - it's an ongoing problem!!!! Do you have digital cable? It's our digital cable box that gives us alot of problems - it's very annoying!!!!!:headache:

happy tday to you and all the homies.

slo, we have cable but no cable box.
we are hooked up to the line on the light pole on the street.

no digital cable for us, regular cable.

this is the first time ever we did not have sound.
it was only on the FX channel for that one show on tuesday night.

FX worked fine later that night. it was only effected during that one show.
i switched channels and they all worked fine.
so did our other tv's.

whatever, it is behind me now.

looks like everyone here is with family.
hope all have great fun with them!

I hope everyone's day is enjoyable.

i love that pic of the cat.

Happy Thanksgiving all!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful day with your family and/or friends!! :goodvibes

Straved Rock was wonderful and packed!! But there was no wait to be seated. And they had two seperate buffet areas set up, so there were no long lines to deal with. And it was just beautiful there, as usual. And somewhere on property someone had a fire burning and it smelled great!!:goodvibes

Hersey Very funny pic!!!
Wowzers!! That's a lot of money!!!

geffric I just realized I never got you that broc casserole recipe!!! UGHHH!! I'm sorry, my head has been elsewhere lately!!! :headache:

slo How was the stuffing? I once checked out a White Castle cookbook from the library and it had the stuffing recipe in it. I read it to Tony and he said "NO WAY!!!" I hope it turned out great!

Time to go chill in front of the tv!!

Anyone getting up early to shop?? I'm considering going to Target.

Hope all my Chicago friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

We have the Comcast digital cable box with dvr and it periodically freezes up with no picture. Must unplug from the back and plug back in to restart it. Becoming quite a pain..

John, the girls and myself all went over to my sister's house today for dinner. Very nice traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I will get my turn to cook on Christmas Day for everyone.

We signed up for the Chicago meet in a couple of weeks (over on the DIS Meets Board) anyone else from here going to attend?

carol ann, i bet you had a lot of fun with being together with your family today.

thanksgiving day is always so nice to be with others.

i don't have the digital box cable, just regular cable.
really stuck as we can't get reception without it.

will you be cooking for a lot of people on christmas day ?

not going to the meet you asked about.
too far for me.

i'm sure you'll have a great time there.
i always read the threads that have meets and pictures of the ones that go.
i find them very enjoyable.

Did everyone survive yesterday????

We had a very nice day - we always do:goodvibes !!! We have no conflicts with our family, which I am very grateful for. Our meal turned out very well, and the White Castle stuffing was yummy!!!! The rest of our family thought it was yummy too ::yes:: Kevin may get stuck making the stuffing every year, now that he did this:rolleyes:

The last of our guests left at around 7:30pm (my brother and SIL) and then I got in my jammies and watched Home Alone, and then part of Christmas with the Kranks. It was a relaxing night!!!

Today I have to go to work, and I'm praying for some business. Normally, I don't have any today, because everyone is either tired from shopping at 2am, or they are shopping at places like the mall. We put a "Super Sale" banner up Wednesday, but I don't know if many saw it. I guess we'll soon find out. My college employee comes in today, so I'm only planning on working until about 2pm. Then I'm going to come home, and help Kevin get the rest of the Christmas items out of the attic. Then tonight, and tomorrow afternoon, I am going to put up Christmas tree #2. I told Stephanie that I will bring home the mini ladder from work, so her and Katie can put the ornaments on this tree - they'll really enjoy that!!!!!:goodvibes

Mac - maybe it was just the channel then. If you still have problems, I would call the cable company and tell them what's going on. How are you feeling??

HERSEY, Big V, and Rose - :wave2:

DG - How did your pie turnout? You've got to be so tired!!! :faint:

Bunchkin - I"m glad you had a nice meal!!!!:goodvibes
*That stuffing does sound nasty, when you are reading about it, but it really was very good. My mom said, "You would never know that White Castles are in here." I was not thrilled about him making it at first, but it really was good:thumbsup2

CarolAnn - I am not going to the meet. It starts way to early, and it's far away for me - I would have to leave my house at 7:30am. Hopefully I can make the next one.
**What do you make for your Christmas meal? One Christmas Eve for my in-laws we make something different every year. Kevin cooks this meal, so it's up to him on what he wants to do. On Christmas Day, we make the traditional Christmas ham, baked potatoes, salad, corn - it's a very easy meal, because it's a busy day:)

Well, I should go get in the shower and get ready for work
Have a good Friday everyone!!!

Slo Glad your thanksgiving was enjoyable. Somehow I can't wrap my mind around slider stuffing :confused3 I am not sure when our holiday decorations are coming out. I don't think it will be today. I have to do a good clean before decorating.

Mac Where you up to making a turkey yesterday? Hope you able to hobble around better.

Bunch Glad Starved rock was good :thumbsup2

CarolAnnC I am not sure about the meet it is a little early. I'll have to check my calendar at work since I know I have something goin on that weekend but I didn't right on my home calendar. How that for being organized :rolleyes1

Sounds like everyone had a great Thanksgiving! :)

We had my parents and my sister Kim and her family over yesterday. My other sister went to her boyfriend's family. My nephew (the Marine) is in California and went to one of his commander's house. Lots of left-overs, but that is how Dewain likes it.

I need to head down to Kohls and Penneys soon, some deal on clothes I want for Kevin.

I officially left Hanna Andersson on Wednesday. I have been very unhappy there for awhile, just not a good fit. (I found out that I was so unliked, that several girls were asking to not work with me) I guess as much as they all knew about my hearing impairment, none of them understood it. No matter how many times I tried to explain that I need to read their lips, and can't carry on a conversation across the store, they still complained that I was being stand-offish. All of the stress was causing health problems for me too. My BP is very elevated, and I am hoping it was just the stress. It was 178/89 on Monday and the lowest I have gotten since is 149/83.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving... i know i sure am sleepy! However, it was nice coming downtown today! the train was empty!!! Hopefully, i'll be able to get out a little early so I can rest a bit before going to work at W-S!

Slo ~ my pie turned out good... i cut myself twice though. the first time was while I was chopping the apples for the pie. the second time was when i was peeling the apples for the candied sweet potatoes. fortunately, my dad was nice enough to help me finish chopping and peeling so I could tend to my battle wounds! THEN when mike and i were driving to my sister's, i had the HOT sweet potatoes sitting on my lap on a pot holder.... well, stupid me, didn't think about all the juices at the bottom of the dish. So when we turned, all of the hot juices split all over my leg and the seat. I ended up dropping the potatoes and pie off then my took me back home so I could change my pants. I felt worse about getting it on his seat of his car! But overall, it was a successful day! I am quite exhausted though! Hope you have a good day today at the store!

Piglet ~ I'm sorry to hear about your situation at Hanna Andersson. I hope you start to feel better soon!

morning chicagoland homies.....:goodvibes

i used to love black friday shopping, miss not doing it today,
gurnee mills mall opened at midnight last night to start all the sales early.
only one fight happened in the lining up before midnight, i saw that on the news this morning.

Hi gang!

I didn't go shopping this morning, DH did!! :teeth: He went to Toys R Us and Walmart, and to Walgreens too. We're heading to Michaels, Office Depot and Target in a while. Then we're coming home and watching the movie Fred Clause. We haven't seen it yet and I'm hoping it's good.

piglet Sorry to hear about all the stress your job was causing you. I hope your BP comes down in the next few days.

slo Glad to hear the stuffing came out good. I've heard other people say it was good too. I think the whole thought of it just freaked Tony out!

disneygal You sure did take a beating yesterday!!! ;)

mac I'm guessing that fight didn't involve you and your crutches then??

Well, I should get going. Time to go do my part in rescuing the economy. :)

I love watching Christmas movies this time of year. Thanksgiving we watched Home Alone, and Christmas with the Kranks, and then last night The Santa Clause was on :santa: I love this movie so much - one of my favorites!!! I've seen it like 5 billion times, but I don't care, I'll watch it another 5 billion :teeth: I saw that The Polar Express was also on, but I refuse to watch that on normal tv. I need to have that in super surround sound, and no commercial breaks.:) I love this time of year!!!!!

I didn't get to start on Christmas tree #2, because I had customers yesterday, and wasn't able to leave work at 2pm, like I originally wanted to. But I"m not complaining, I'm very grateful for the business. Today, I'm hoping to get started on that tree, because tomorrow we are taking the girls for their Christmas pictures at Sears, and for their annual visit with Santa:santa: We may have some errands to run too, so I want to get alot of decorating done today:thumbsup2

HERSEY - I need to do a deep cleaning too (the dust is starting to get out of control!!!). When you are done with your house, please feel free to come to do my house. I can pay you with pie and brownies - I still have some from Thanksgiving :teeth:

piglet - I am so sorry to hear about the stresses with that job :guilty: I remember how excited you were when they hired you, and it's sad that it didn't work out. Are you going to go back to Yankee Candle, and ask for that position back? Whatever you do, I hope you are able to find a new job fast:wizard:

DG - I hate cutting myself while cooking - ouch!!!!! Then you try to bandage it, and it never keeps all the juices out when you continue to cook, and then it burns:eek: Ouch, ouch, ouch!!!!! I hope you heal up quick:wizard:

Mac - I have never been to Gurnee Mills, and I've always wanted to go. Are the deals as good as they claim them to be (during the normal time of the year, like the summer)? I hate to drive all the way over there, and then the prices are no different than the mall here.

Bunchkin - Did you get some good deals yesterday? What are Lauren and Hunter asking for for Christmas? Both my girls want AG dolls, and things to do with them. I think Stephanie is running out of other things to ask for, so she just settles for another doll. Katie really wants a real AG Doll, because she doesn't consider the Bitty Twins AG Dolls. I just wish she would decide on which one, so I can order it. I'm going to need to really listen to what she tells Santa tomorrow, because whatever she says, is what she'll get.:santa:
Stephanie can't decide on which doll either. One minute she wants Mia, then she wants a "Just like you" doll, then she wants Kit:headache: She knows I'm Santa, so I keep telling her that Santa needs to know, so Santa can take action:laughing: Pretty soon, I"m just going to get Mia, and be done with it.

Well, I better get going and get ready to take Stephanie to choir practice, and then go to work for awhile. I would like to only be there until 11:30am, so I can come home and get those decorations out of the attic.

Have a good day today!!!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all!

Hope everyone is able to enjoy some quality time with family and friends...

I count all of you as my friends, so thanks for being a part of my life!!!

Have a great day!!!:)

Just stopping by on a slow Saturday morning here, to say hello to all the Chicago folks. :wave2: Hope all is well with everyone. :cloud9:
