Hi gang! Ithought I better check in since I have been MIA for a week or so. Over the 4th, we spent the days in Gurnee at ds baseball tournament. They played realy well. I was pooped after the weekend though. This weekend he is in a tournment in Oak Lawn. I have to work on Sunday so I will miss those games. Oh, well...

DH got transferred from one mile from home to downtonw Elmhurst. We are not happy about this. It just turned our nice little schedule upside down and to think of the increase cost of gas money. We will make the best of it.

Piglet - What wonderful news about the dog!

Slo - I will keep your mom, dad and family in my prayers. I hope your mom has a speedy recovery.

Hi to everybody else! Have a good weekend!
Lori

Hi guys! TGIF!!

I'm looking forward to this weekend going by fast though as DH is on his motorcycle trip. He and a friend from work left yesterday to drive the Great River Road along the Mississippi River down to Memphis. Yesterday they rode through some pretty bad weather, heavy rain and even hail! Today has been much better but HOT. They'll be home Monday.

The kids survived their MD visit, didn't need shots in the end so all was good with them.

momto1 - I'd like to welcome your DH to Elmhurst! I've lived here nearly my whole life. It's a bummer though for him to have to travel far especially with gas prices.

Chloro - best of luck to Katy on the 1/2 marathon, she is braver than I ;) .
*No hockey fan here but that game sounds fun, my DBro is a huge Blackhaws fan so I'm sure he'll be happy.

Leigh - I check my United flights for Oct almost daily :surfweb: . We were always booked on the 5:05p but they've bumped my flight down 1/2 hr later. I'm hoping it won't get any later!

piglet - Happy Birthday to Kevin!!!
*That is GREAT news about your parents' dog! They must be thrilled.
**Hope all is well with the car, summer is not a good time to have overheating probs.

slo - sorry to hear about your mom and dad. I'll keep them in my prayers. I was just explaining Alzheimers to my dd11 yesterday, it must be tough.
*How did your last Chiro appt go? Did you do a full workout Wed before your appt?

disneygal - have a fun weekend in Iowa.
*Love the cake topper :thumbsup2

:wave2: - to all our other Chicago homies!

I guess I'd better go put the laundry in the dryer and figure out dinner. Ugh, it's going to be a long weekend without DH.

Have a great weekend everyone!! :flower3:

I just looked at my United flight itinerary for October, and I lost another hour! :furious: I was returning at something like 7:30pm, then it was changed to 6:10pm, and now it's 5:05pm! :sad1: I hope it doesn't get any earlier! That would really start to cut into my plans for the day. At least we're still non-stop, and this time they put all all in a row together like we were on our original flight.

This is like a roller coaster. I still have 3 months to go!:scared:

remember a few weeks back when i posted about united switching my 7:50 pm flight to the 5:05 one?

yours was still standing as you are returning on a weekend.
mine is on a weekday.

now it looks like united has wiped out all ns evening flights. the 5:05 pm is the only one i can find.

i feel your pain.
it does cut into the park time when you have to leave for the airport at 3:30 instead of 6:30............

slo, how is your mother today?
you are a good daughter to be helping her like you do. not everyone has a relative to lend a hand.

your family is in my prayers for a complete recovery and lessening of pain.

hello chgoland homies......:wave2:

Slo- For your parents!
Dgal- Love the topper!
Piglet- Happy bday to ds! Also, what a relief your parents' dog was found!
hersey- Welcome back!
Chloro- I'd love to do the 1/2, but without time for training, I could probably only manage a 5k.

Hi, all! Thanks for all the well wished on the server final- it never happened! They just let me lose on the floor! It went well and I am now on my own. Ds and I saw "journey to the Center of the Earth" tonight in 3D. It was fun and "actiony" as ds says, but when they tried to get serious, it reminded me of Joey Tribiani trying to deliver his acting lines on "Friends". Ds jumped at quite a few scenes- he wasn't scared, he told me, just "startled". Uh-huh...anyway, better go iron my shirt for work. Someone got sent home for having a crease in her shirt. It is like military uniform inspections!

Good morning everyone! We are supposed to go to the zoo this morning. I hope this rain goes away soon.

Paint Your restaurant sounds fancy! No creases how are you supposed to get to work? Do they want you to dress there?:confused3

Mac Leigh We must have lucked out, our plane times only varied 15-20 minutes. Last time they totally changed flights on us even though the original flight was still there. I had to call to get it changed back :headache:

Slo Sorry your dad is having such a difficult time. I hope today your mom's feet are feeling a little better.

Well I better get moving it is beanie baby day at the zoo! My nieghbors daughter is looking forward to this.

I'm anxiously waiting for my coffee to brew :surfweb:
I normally don't drink coffee anymore in the AM, because I workout, but I woke up and it was raining, so I decided to make some coffee :)

Not to much going on here today.
I'm going to work briefly this morning, and then I'm going to come home and do a little housecleaning. Tonight is my first night being lector at church, so I'm pretty excited/nervous about that. Then after church, we are having a bunch of friends come over - so that should be fun!!!!

Thanks everyone for you kind and loving thoughts about my parents. My mom is in a lot of pain, and her vicadin (sp?) was not agreeing with her (made her feel very sick and dizzy), so the doctor put her on Tylenol 3 and that is helping her more. The pain is still there alot, but at least she doesn't feel like she has the stomach flu:thumbsup2

piglet - Happy birthday to Kevin :cake:  What did you all do for his birthday?

Leigh - I"m sorry your flight keeps changing:guilty: I sure hope it stops!!!!:wizard:

Chloro - That's awesome that you're wife is doing the 1/2 marathon. Is she a walker or a runner? I can hardly wait until I can do that someday. You'll have to tell us all about it when you return - I can hardly wait to hear!!! We went with my friend in 2007 - he did the 1/2 too ::yes:: We watched him on Main Street in the MK, and then we got in our car and rushed over to Epcot, so we could see him finish - it was very exciting!!!!!:cool1:

momto1 - I"m so sorry to hear of your DH's transfer :guilty: Getting use to the change in gas used is a huge adjustment. Kevin went from working 10 minutes away from home, to going up to Midway everyday (we live in NW Indiana), so his drive can be anywhere between 45 and 1 hour long

ID - I bet your DH is having a blast on his trip :cool1:
**I am feeling so much better with going to the Chiropractor:woohoo: Before my Wednesday visit, I did power walk 4 miles, and I told him my neck was hurting. He gave me my *snap* and I never got a headache:woohoo: Yesterday I did my stepbox aerobics, and went for my *snap* in the afternoon, and I never got a headache. I can't say I"m healed, but I'm on the road to being healed!!!!!:yay: Thanks for asking!!!!

Mac - Thanks!!!:goodvibes My mom was so grateful for me helping her, and I told her that she would do the same for me. Since my dad is so bad, she can't rely on him for anything, and I feel so bad for her. She was really hoping to do so much with her older life, and she can't do anything:guilty: I would love to take her for a WDW trip, because she would love to go back (she hasn't been since I was a teenager) but she can't leave him home alone:sad2: He would starve to death, because he doesn't know how to cook anymore, and even when my mom makes him a sandwich, he forgets that she did it, and still doesn't eat. This is so hard on my mom :guilty:

paint - I really want to see that movie. Was the 3D good? Is it worth seeing it in the movie theater?
**Was the crease yours? I can't remember, what type of restaurant are you working in? I'm glad you did well serving - that's awesome!! I hope you get some good paying tippers:wizard: Do you get to keep all the tips, or do you have to share them? I heard that in some restaurants, the servers have to put all the tips in one big kitty, and then they are shared evenly amoungst everyone.

Well, I gotta go and listen to the news tells me how much our electric bill is going to go up:eek: These times that we are in are really starting to scare me - how are we all going to live with everyone and everything raising their prices - scary!!!! :scared1:

Have a good day!!!

Hi HERSEY :wave2:

We posted at the same time!!!
I hope you are able to get to the zoo today:wizard:

Good Morning all!!!

I just realized I haven't posted in a couple days. I do remember reading the other day, but I guess I forgot to post!!! I'm loosing it!!!!

We went to the Cubs game on Thursday. Too bad they lost that day!!! It was American Girl day there and DD got the giveaway of a Cubs shirt and hat for her doll. Too cute!! They were also giving away dolls!
We decided to not pay the crazy parking fees and parked about a 1/2 mile away from the park and walked to Wrigley.
The kids and I were going to take the train downtown and meet up with DH, who was already downtown working. But when I got to the train station and parked, I realized while walking to the platform that I left the tickets for the game at home!!!!!!!!! :scared1:  :headache: :headache: I couldn't believe it!! I've never done anything like that before!!! :headache: So needless to say the next train would have gotten us there too late, so we ended up driving.
It was a great day though!! Even though the Cubs lost!! ;)

Hersey Welcome back from the land of fun times!!! :goodvibes Hope to hear details of your trip!!! Did Mr. Sleeps-a-lot ever rise before 12 noon the rest of your trip?
Hope you and the neighbors can get to the zoo today! :thumbsup2

slo I hope your mom feels better soon! Did she have surgery on both of her feet? I remember you telling me about your dad and his memory loss. That is such a shame he won't go see a doctor. That has to be so hard on your mom. :sad2:
It's good to hear the chiropractor is helping you feel better! ::yes::

momto1 Gas prices stink! I hope the new drive for your DH won't be too much of a burden!!

irish dancer I hope your DH and his friend have better weather driving and a safe trip back home. ::yes::

Leigh Sorry to hear that United is playing around with your flight times too!

paint That's great that your work let you loose! That crease in the shirt thing is crazy though!!!!

piglet Happy b-day to Kevin!!! I hope he had a great day!!!
And that is awesome news about your parent's dog!!! I can't believe he was found!!!!

disneygal Love the cake topper!!! Have a great weekend with your friends!

Chloro My Dh and I used to go to lots of Blackhawk games before we had kids. That would be great to see them skate at Wrigley!!!

since i am so behind here, may i just say "ditto" to everyone bunchkin posted to........:rolleyes1

i know, i'm bad.
i'll bring a note from home next time i have to do that to explain....:flower3:

hope all the chicagoland homies have a great weekend.

have my prayer list ready, going to church tomorrow and will cover them all.
also my homies here.
your backs will be covered another week.......:hippie:

Mac Thank you as usual for getting our backs.

Yesterday turned out really good for the zoo. I think the rain in the morning scared a lot of people away. The beanie baby was a frog. I suppose it went along with the Year of the frog theme.

We finally saw National treasure 2 we really liked it. :thumbsup2

I have a full day planned. I am going to reclaim my yard. The weeds have taken over. I have to clean the old mansion. It is funny how when you are cleaning house your house suddenly gets bigger.:confused3

Slo How is your framing business doing this days? I hope all is well.

and as hersey says, backs will be covered for the week.

hoping all here and their families are doing well and stay well.

Oh me, Oh my, look at the weather outside - IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!! :sunny:
I love love love laying out on a day like today:goodvibes
The girls and I are going to be the pool (me floating), and then we'll go to the fire dept picnic for a bite to eat, and then I'm going to come back and float:) What a glorious looking day!!!!! :sunny:

Last night was a lot of fun with our friends over. Everyone brought something to eat - one brought pizza, one brought Hooters wings, one brought shrimp and dip, and we did all the munchies - it was all yummy!!!:goodvibes My girlfriend and I sat out in the hottub for awhile, without the girls, and it was very relaxing. The children were a little ticked off that we told them they couldn't join us, but they got over it:rolleyes:

During the afternoon, I took the girls to the library - something I haven't done in forever (we never have time to go when it's open). I"m trying so hard to get Stephanie to read more, because she just doesn't like to read - which kills me, because I used to love reading at her age, and I still do today (even though I really haven't had time). I decided to read all 7 Chronicles of Narnia books, so I brought the first one home yesterday. The first one is The Lion, The Witch, and Wardrobe, and so far I'm just loving it. I read 1/2 the book yesterday, and I'm looking forward to finishing, and moving on to Prince Caspian. So far, the book is following the movie really well. There are some differences of course, but not much. So, I'll be reading that this afternoon while I"m laying out:thumbsup2

After I read all 7 of those books, I'm going to move on to Harry Potter. I've never seen any of the movies, so I'll be going into that with a fresh perspective. Then after that - I will look forward to seeing the movies. After those movies, I'll be asking you all for advice on what books I should read next. I'm not that familiar with many authors, so I don't know what to read. I've read almost all the older Stephen King books, and I'm a little hesitatant to read his newer material, because I have read and heard that they aren't as good (ever since his terrible accident). I do like James Pattersons older books, and there are some of his books that I do want to read. So when I need some material I'll ask you guys, and hopefully you can help:)

Yesterday was my first time lectoring at church, and I was nervous. I did really good though, and I got many compliments from those that knew it was my first time. The next time will be alot easier now, so I'm glad my first time is over:)

Bunchkin - I would have been so ticked at myself for forgetting those tickets:mad: Like Mac said, that's something that happens in a bad dream. I"m glad you still had a great time at the game!!!
**Thanks for the nice thought about my mom. She had just her left foot done, which is good, because once it feels better, she can still drive and get around. When I called her yesterday, her foot still hurt alot, but she's keeping her spirits up and is sounding upbeat:)

HERSEY - I'm glad you had a great time at the zoo yesterday, and the weather was good for you.
**We really enjoyed National Treasure too, and now I can hardly wait for the 3rd one:thumbsup2
**Thanks for asking about the store. I have more business now, than in the winter, but it's still not tons and tons. I truly believe it's because of the economy, and the fact that gas is $4.++ gallons these days. In a way, I"m glad I started this business during this time, because it can never get worse than this. It would be dreadful, if I started during a different time, had tons of business, was making tons of money, and then it just stopped - that would be terrible. At least now, I don't know any different, so this is just normal, and when it gets better, it'll be awesome!!!!!:woohoo:

Mac - Yep....you definitly beat me ::yes:: I didn't get to sleep until 1:00am, and I slept and slept. It's so nice now that Katie is older and sleeps in - I love it!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I gotta go and do a little cleaning before we go outside.
Have a great and wonderful day everyone!!!

Hi, all! Well, I got woken up by fighting and screaming. Apparently, dd decided to put lipgloss on ds while he was sleeping. Why?!? She lives to irritate him. Anyway, it's been a lowkey weekend. I worked yesterday and today I attempted to sleep in, made some french toast, and then we are going to a nearby arts festival- arts, crafts, music, but I'm going for the fair food!:rotfl2:
slo- The movie was fun, but if you are planning on bringing the girls, prepare them for the parts that are a little scary, if they are sensitive. Some parts make you jump, especially in 3D!
Enjoy the HP books. I love them! I read a lot, too, so I'll be happy to offer suggestions! I was also a big readeer when I was little. My mom would drop me off at the library for hours in the summer- my faves were the Ramona books.
bunchkin- we talked bout going to that game for the Am Girl stuff, but gas is too expensive! Tickets- does sound like a nightmare! Glad you made it there!

Hersye, Bunchkin, Slo- I work in a high end Italian place. They are so strict about everything. The manager rates our uniforms in the morning on a scale of 1-10. It is almost military stlye! He sent the bartender to the store to buy black socks, since he had on white ones (eventhough you couldn't see them). It takes some getting used to, but the place is run really well and the servers, and consequently, the service, is great. I have to take a written test on the wine list soon. I am nervous since I'm not a wine drinker myslef and don't know much. I have a nice big manual to study, but it is hard since I can't relate...oaky notes, hints of mineral from the soil???I think it all tastes gross!:rotfl2:

Good Evening Everyone! :flower3: Just got back a little while ago! I had a great time! It was so nice to be back in Decorah! It is such a nice little town! :) Anywho, the wedding was beautiful! I forgot my digital camera at home :( so I made mike take me to walmart to get a disposable. I really forgot how convienant it is to have digital and be able to see the pics right away. hopefully, I'll get to the store one of these days to get them developed! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!:goodvibes

Evening all. Busy work weekend. Glad to home and headed to bed soon.
Slo, sorry to hear about your dad. Not sure if I ever mentioned it here, but my mom is suffering through the same thing. We have taken her for MRI, Neuropsychology testing, blood work and a general physical. Still waiting for the Docs to compile all the information and come to a consenses. (Not that we don't know the diagnosis for ourselves). She is very forgetful. I have been dealing with making sure her bills are paid on time. She lives alone for the most part(has company in for a month helping her out, but I don't know how long we can trust her to be by herself anymore). She really has gone downhill fast this past year. I am hoping to get her started on some medication to slow the process if possible. It is so hard to see your parents go through something like that and there is nothing you can do about it.
I will keep both your parents in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your mom is recovering bit from her foot surgery. I have always found a prescription strength dose of Motrin to help for pain relief more than narcotic meds.

Piglet, so happy to hear your parents got their dog back. That was wonderful news. I'll bet they were ecstatic.

Mac, thanks for having our backs once again and for the listings.

Bunchkin, do we need to send you off for a brain scan next? Forgetting your tickets?!!:scared1: Thank goodness you realized it before you actually made it to the game. That would have been horrible.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day. Getting toasty by mid-week. I love summer!!:goodvibes

Paint, enjoy the new job. Hope all continues to go well. (And I am with you on those wines. Oak never tastes good-only smells good burning!!)

Well all, I need to get off to bed.
Disneygal, welcome back. Night all!!

Yesterday was a beautiful day, wasn't it?!?! :sunny:
The girls and I had a nice time in the pool, and then had a nice time at the fire dept picnic. We finally left when the kids got hosed down by a fireman with the actual fire hose (the kids loved it), and Katie became freezing wet. She became so upset, because she was so cold, that it was time to go. I kept telling her to go play with the other kids in the sun, and she'll dry off, but she didn't want to :sad2: Oh well, that's just how she gets:rolleyes:

paint - Don't you hate all that fighting and screaming?! :headache: My girls are fighting alot now, and I can't stand it. They have a lot of time outs, because I really can't stand it. When I was a kid, I never did that to my brother, because he was 7 years younger than me, and I just wanted nothing to do with him - so I ignored hiim, like he wasn't even there:rolleyes:
**Thanks for letting me know about the movie. I wanted to take Stephanie, but not Katie - she would be way to scared!!!
**Your work is strict - I"m sure your customers love it!!!! I know when we go to a nice restaurant, I want everything to look like I'm at an expensive restaurant. I bet you're going to have a good time there ::yes::

DG - I"m glad you had a good time this weekend. I'm sorry you forgot your camera - that's a bummer!!!!:guilty: I hope you were able to get some good pictures.

Tiggggernnnn - I wish my dad would go to the doctor, but he absolutly won't hear of it :sad2: My mom has asked him if it bothers him when he can't remember things, and he said "NO", and my mom does this:headache: On the day of my moms surgery she called him on the way home to see if we should pick him up some lunch. He said no, because he already ate. When my mom asked what he ate, he said, "I don't remember". How can anyone live like that?????? So frustrating for my mom :headache: I hope your mom does well on her meds, and they slow down her memory loss - it's great she's getting help!!!! I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers

Mac - thanks for the listings!!!:)

Well, I gotta run and go out and walk.
I had a really bad food weekend, and it's time to work it off
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: just a quick hello as I have a lot of emails here at work to go through! Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :wave2:

Good morning everyone! Back safe and sound with the kids, and glad to have them here. Not much to do this week. I do need to get the younger two signed up for school. Finally have the money to do it, so need to get over there. Also need to go to the high school to do the residency verification for Kevin.
