Hi all!!



For those who mentioned it: I couldn't believe I left my Cubs tickets at home either!!!! At least I remembered BEFORE I got on the train!!! What a total disaster that would have been. DH would have killed me!!

And by the way, we were at the game where that little boy from Frankfort got hit in the head!! We think we saw the ball that hit him and it was a fast one!! I can't imagine how that poor kiddo felt!!

Had another open house yesterday. No one came, again!! What a downer! I swear this market really stinks!!!

But later we had family over for a party for Hunter's b-day, so the day ended on a happy note!!

You work does sound strict!! WOW!!! I have no clue about wine. I think most of it is gross too! There is only one brand I like and it is really fruity and has hardly any alcohol in it at all!!

We went to the Cubs game on Thursday. Too bad they lost that day!!! It was American Girl day there and DD got the giveaway of a Cubs shirt and hat for her doll. Too cute!!

We were there too! Bummer they lost!

I didn't get good news yesterday at work.
My highschool employee told me that her other job (of which I approved her getting for summer, because I didn't think it would be a big deal) told her that she had to choose either me or them When THEY hired her, they told her they would work around me (it's Jewel). She wanted to work only 1 day a week there during the school year, and then more when she is on breaks and next summer. THEY told her that they wouldn't do that, and that THEY won't guarantee her a job next summer, of which she wants, because THEY are promising her a position at a Jewel closest to her college.

Needless to say, I sorta flipped out when she told me this. I told her that she needs to make a decision and tell me tomorrow, because I need to start looking for a new employee. I also told her that she promised me that she would stay with me until she left for college, and how she is basically screwing me over by leaving, because I will literally be working every single second the store is open. I told her I wasn't happy Down deep, I know she is going to chose THEM, because they are going to give her work at college. So....it looks like my normal work schedule is not going to be happening anymore I'm not really mad at her, but I am furious with Jewel for putting a gun to her head . It's not like they are hurting for help. So we'll she what she says today.



Well guys, I gotta go jump in the shower, because this is an early day for us. Stephanie is going to the Shedd Aquarium with daycare, and I have an 8:02am Chamber function that I have to attend to.

Good Morning Everyone! I think I found the favors/place card holders for the wedding! Mike approves and both my sisters love them, at first my dad thought I should wait to buy anything quite yet in case I find something I like more seeing as it is still quite a ways away but he said he doesn't care and thinks they are nice! They are really cute bud vases that have a little heart on the base for the place card! I was so excited to see them b/c even before we decided to do Disney I knew I wanted my centerpieces to be a bunch of bud vases that everyone could take home as their favor! I was going to do a variety of colors but these come in white only which is ok b/c it makes the colors POP!! Oh, and mike called me last night to tell me his boss said that he (mike) will be getting his own store sooner than they thought. Originally, the regional manager told him if he does well in the ASM position it's likely he'll have his own store by the holidays. Well, now it will be most likely by the end of summer!! I'm really excited for him but the options are most likely going to be Deerfield, Geneva, or Schaumberg which are all quite far from Tinley He knows I don't want to move that far from my family seeing as I am super close with them. I'm hoping for Schaumberg seeing as it is the closest and he can just hop on the new 355 extension.

Slo ~ I'm sorry to hear about your high schooler. Big companies stink. Unfortunately, they really only care about themselves.

Bunchkin ~ sorry to hear about your open-house. Hopefully, someone will come along soon

Slo ~ sorry about the work woes. If it was not so far, I'd offer to help you out.

DG ~ What company does he work for? I agree that it will be a tough commute for him, but maybe he can eventually get a store closer to home. Who knows, with the new mall(s) going up in New Lenox, it might be sooner rather than later. My parents live in Orland Hills, and my dad goes to Hyde Park for his store. He has been told that he'll get his own store as soon as one comes up, so he is keeping his fingers crossed for New Lenox as well.

I heard the story about that boy getting hit, very scary indeed.

Saw in the paper that several Illinois towns were ranked in the top 100 places to live. Naperville was #3 and Wheaton and Bolingbrook made it too. Orland Park is #92.

Probably pink and purple Gerbera Daisies? I'm not quite sure yet. I'm going to do silk though so I don't need to worry about them not getting enough water or water spilling or them dying... you know!

Hi everyone! Just popping in to let you know I'm still here among the living.

I haven't really been posting much on the DIS but reading here & there.

Life has been crazy. DD went to ISYM (Illinois Summer Youth Music) last week, sounded bored out her mind when she called me a couple times and then said it was the best camp ever. She wants to go back next year.

DD goes back on Friday to Shriner's for her scoliosis check for those that remember.

Other than that just getting the kids ready for school. I'm just muddling my way through being a Freshman mom - I did ask DD if she wanted to join band really quick like because I found out the dates they are going to Disney in Feb. Next school year will be her turn with choir (they flip every other year band/orchestra one year & choir the next).

Can't recall if I shared, but my younger (he is 13) nephew made the concert orchestra for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra playing the french horn.

I'm so glad to be off today, so I can soak up the sun


My employee did choose Jewel, so now I'm praying that I find an employee soon. I"m not happy at all that this happened . I still can't believe that Jewel made her choose - that's so wrong!!!! Oh well, I'm not going to dwell on it, because there's nothing I can do about it. I told her the door is always open for her, and if something doesn't work out, to please come see me, and hopefully I can give her a job again. I also told her that I would use her for babysitting, because my girls adore her. She liked hereing that, because she felt bad about quitting, but Jewel is paying her so much more than what I'm paying her.

Good Morning Everyone! I have to go to a silly retreat today for work. It's basically like an all day staff meeting. Anyway, it is usually for senior staff members but apparently last year a bunch of the admin assistants complained that they felt like they were being left out of the loop. Whatever... So this year we all are going (well, senior staff are going all day and everyone else has to be there at 12:30) It is out in Skokie so we were told we need to leave the office by 11 to make it there.

Slo ~ I'm glad you like the favors!

Becky ~ Glad to hear your DD enjoyed camp! I personally highly reccommend band, I did marching band and choir all throughout high school! I loved every minute of it and some of my greatest memories come from times I had with my fellow musicians! Oh, and the Magic Music Days at Disney were awesome! We went my senior year!

Yesterday was an awesome hot day!!!
The girls and I were by the pool from 11:30am until almost 5:30pm
My tan is coming along very very nicely!!!!


My reading of the Narnia series is moving right along. I started on Saturday, and I've already finished the first 2 books. The first book is a pre-quel to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and it explained many things - it was great!!!! The 3rd book is waiting for me at the libraray, so I need to go get it today or tomorrow - I can hardly wait!!!!!


DG - How was your work retreat??

Good Morning Everyone! yesterday's retreat went better than i expected. it took us about an hour and a half to get there via the CTA but whatever. Luckily my dad had a job not far from where I was so he picked me up! I got back home so much quicker than if I had to come back downtown then wait for a metra train. my dad is awesome!! well, b/c we were out of the office yesterday for the most part I have lots of work today sooo have a good day everyone!

I posted a couple months back asking for advice and everyone was really great. I was told that a better time to visit would be in the Fall, but with scheduling conflicts that came up we'll be going next week. I'm sure we'll melt a little, but I'm also sure we'll have fun.

I ended up booking a hotel in Deerfield, which is about in the middle between the people we're visiting.

I'll let you know how it goes. We're super excited about our trip.

I'm in the midst of packing and cleaning today.
We are leaving tomorrow for the weekend to go up to WI for the American Girl Benefit Sale AND to celebrate Hunter's b-day, which is tomorrow.
So everyone is excited!!
Hunter has to miss out though on our neighbor's b-day party while we are gone. The neighbor boy and Hunter have the same birthdate!!! COOL!!! We plan on having a small celebration together with them when we get back so that should be a lot of fun!!




slo Sorry to hear you are loosing an employee. It is so hard to deal with rehiring and training someone new. BUt I can understand why she left though, so it must have been hard for her too to decide.
We are using a realtor. The one we used when we sold our last house. The market is just so slow in Will County right now!!!


Disneygal That is a really cute place card/flower holder!! I like them a lot!!! That was nice of your dad to pick you up.

Hi guys! Well, summer is moving right along. DD11 goes away to camp next week so I'm starting to get her gear together. DD6 will go away next month for 3 days. DS7 has been doing a special needs day camp two days a week and LOVING it. It ends at the end of the month and he's not happy. They go horseback riding Mondays at a theraputic riding place and Wed they go to a local pool in addition to games, crafts, nature stuff, etc. It runs daily and he wants to sign up for the whole program next year, will have to start saving now . I was teasing DH that with what we spent on camps this summer we could have taken a trip to WDW

I've spent some time this week ironing out our plan for our suprise Oct. trip. Disney announced no Haunted Hayride this year but they're offering a Haunted Carriage ride so I've requested IPO to book that. I've also booked the Wildlife Discovery Excursion. I'm also keeping an eye on our flights to make sure we're not cancelled or changed . Only 79 more days !

slo - so sorry about your employee, that really stinks. Hopefully you'll find someone soon.

*Glad the retreat was better than expected, those can sometimes be a drag.

Becky - glad to see you around again. Wow, I would love to do a WDW trip like that. My friend's Irish dance school did one during Christmas time in 2006. They loved it, especially the workshop they did with Disney dancers.

*Happy Birthday to Hunter! I'm celebrating my birthday tomorrow too but it was on the 15th. Still haven't decided where to go to dinner yet......
