paint - Wow, you are going to have a memorable year with your wedding, honeymoon, and your sisters wedding :goodvibes I bet you can hardly wait for all of this to happen.

DMM - You just taught me something today - I had no idea that you can do the oyster/pearl thing other places other than Japan. I love doing this, and I would like to check out other places, to see if there's setting I like better than at Japan.:)

Sam - Now that you mention it, my eating clock was off on Sunday too ::yes:: It's so weird how the time change affected me this year - it's never happened to me before :sad2:

disneygal - Your dog sounds cute!!!! :goodvibes I hope you have an easier morning today:wizard:
**If you want longer than 30 seconds, you can ask your security company to come change that. We had ours changed to 90 seconds, which I really like:thumbsup2

Leigh - I've done that with my alarm too, and the security company does see that you turned it off right away, and that's why they didn't call (they saw your setting and new it was you - my setting was "away" and they couldn't assume it was me, even though I turned it off right away).

ID - Have fun planning your trip!!!! :cool1:

Bunchkin - The traffic was a killer :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You're so funny!!!!!!:rotfl:
**Thanks for letting me know about the cheese :) I didn't make it Sunday, because I was so involved with Katie's room that I forgot about it, until it was to late:rolleyes: But that's okay, I have 5 boxes of it now, and I will make it with something else;)

Tiggggernnnnnn - I love Market Day!! I need to order mine today.
**This schedule was a New Years Resolution of mine, that has been really easy for me to keep. It's not to huge or demanding, and I believe it's making my life alot easier. It's something like this....
Monday - Change sheets on all beds
Tuesday - Do a couple of loads of laundry, and dust
Wednesday - Clean all bathrooms
Thursday - Fold Tuesdays laundry, and do more loads of laundry
Friday - Fold Fridays laundry, and vacuum some floors
Saturday - nothings
Sunday - If home, than I vacuum and clean the kitchen floor . If I'm not home, than nothing

Becky - How scary about your DD falling off the bars:eek: I bet that freaked you out!!!!
**Happy birthday to your DD :bday: How old did she turn??

Mac - Thanks for the listing!!! :teeth:

Well, I gotta run - this post has taken me forever (like I'm typing in slow motion)
Have a good day today!!!

Hi to everyone in Chicago! Hope you don't mind me asking some questions here! I did once before and you were all so helpful.
My DD and I are coming to Chicago in a couple weeks over spring break, we're going to the Museum of Science and Industry. Do you think we should buy tickets in advance? We're going on a Thursday. Last year we went to Shedd Aquaruium on a Saturday and we didn't have tickets in advance and the line was horrible! Just wondering if the same thing happens at the Museum of Science and Industry, don't want to go through that again if I don't have to.
Also are those double decker bus tours worth going on? They look like they might be fun!
We're also going to the show and cafe at American Girl Place! :)
Thanks for your help! :) :goodvibes We're excited about our trip! :cool1:

good tuesday morning chicagoland homies.

a quick drive by, off to work.......:teacher:

Welcome to Chicago!

You probably wouldn't need to buy your museum tix in advance since it is a Thurs as opposed to a weekend. Also, Chicago public schools are on break next week so that will cut down on traffic. That said, there are MANY private and suburban schools that will be off and parents will be looking for something to do. If you can buy them in advance then it would probably make it easier.

I've never done the double decker bus tour so I can't comment. My only concern would be the weather.....you never know here in our fair city ;) . I'd say if it is a nice day it could be fun.

Enjoy AG Place, we've been to the cafe but not the show. I've heard the show is leaving so it is on my list to get to with my girls before it closes.

Have fun!

First off, you find the DISers in the oddest places. I found out last night that one of DD's gymnastics coaches is on the board!!! I told her to come check out this thread on the Community Board. I know she said she's mostly a lurker but "Hi Kelly" if you are reading!!!!

Becky - **Happy birthday to your DD :bday: How old did she turn??

She turned 14. :scared1:

I will give the opposite advice. If you know exactly the date you are coming, I would just go ahead and get the Museum tickets in advance. You can just bypass the line that way. My theory is if I can bypass *any* line, I will try to do so. :rotfl: That way you can start enjoying the museum as soon as you walk in the door.

Especially since they don't have extremely long hours. I think with extended hours (if they do that for spring break -- I haven't checked hte hours) they will only be open until 5:30?. So basically 9 - 5:30 which I know sounds like a long time but there is a LOT to do there especially if you plan on seeing any of the shows, doing a tour of the coal mine or Zephyr. In & of themselves they don't take a lot of time but I know the wait for the coal mine can be 30 minutes. I can't say I've *ever* seen a line for the Zephyr --that one seems isolated to me & I'm not even sure people realize it's there sometimes. You add all that up and it takes time. We have never gotten through the whole museum in a day but we never really try either. Oh, doing the Toymaker 3000 is kind of fun. It's $5.00 for a gyroscope that you can put your name on, etc... You watch it being made (then again, if you are like us & are confused you might just get 2 of them for the price of 1. :lmao: We messed up on putting the ticket in, so restarted and next thing you know we ended up with 2 of them.)

I know nothing about the double decker busses. I love the AG place though, you will love it there. Have a fantastic time.

DMM: Thanks for the advice on the Oyster/Pearl thing, I can't wait to do this! :goodvibes

Bunchkin: where did you find the Fred/George picture in your Signature? I love it! Oh and Kermit is my all time favorite character ever!

Good Morning!! :wave2:

My gripe of the day!!!
I am so sick of DD coming home with field trip permission forms!!! She has a ton coming up, and just had one. I can understand 1 or 2 field trips, but total they will have had I believe 5!!! The school is draining my wallet, every time I have cash in my wallet DD comes home with something that says she needs money!!! And it's not like it's for a dollar or two! Then there is the clubs, movie night, the basketball games, the donations, not to mention all the PTO stuff!

Ok, gripe over! I just had to release that!!!! :)

slo I will forget to make the bread too and then realize it's too late in the afternoon!!
For some reason, the closer a place is to me the harder it is to get to some days!!! ......like to the neighbors!!! :rotfl2:

Becky I didn't realize your DD had a b-day! Happy B-day to her!!! :cake:

traces I would buy your tickets in advance too. Just like slo, I like to avoid lines. We've rode on the free trolley that makes several stops and it was fun and not that time consuming. The wait was not that long either before it showed up at our stop. And we took it during the middle of the summer when crowds are really high.
Enjoy AG Place!!! What meal are planning on having there?

disneygal I can't recall the site I got the Weasley Twins from?!! I do remember just Googling 'harry potter avatar'. And it brought up a few sites that have really neat ones!! :)

DMM I didn't know as well that a pearl can be bought in other places. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Tiggerrn My Market Day p/u is Thurs. Have you tried the new choco chip cookie dessert with the gooey chocolate in the middle? :worship: :worship:
We tried them once when they first came out and everyone flipped over them. So last time they made me order several orders of them!!! Then the kids kept asking over and over again "When is Markey Day pick up??"!!!

I thought I'd share this email I got in regards to the American Girl Annual Benefit Sale in Middleton, WI. Just in case some of you are interested in going this year. If anyone wants more info about the sale and what goes on feel free to ask me.

Bunchkin- It is fundraisers over here. They are trying to raise money for a new playground, which they need. Right now they are selling engraved paving blocks to be used in the new playground- $75! What a steal. You want 2, right?!?
Slo- I can/can't wait. I have so much to do still and all of the $$$ is giving me serious stress!
Becky- Can you get a fast pass for the Zephyr?
Tiggern- How is Boma? I've heard the desserts are fab- I'm all about desserts!

Date night with DS- Chuck E Cheese! DD is going out with her dad. I took her to lunch today. I got a smoothie at Potbelly, assuming since it was made with fro yo, it wouldn't be too bad. then I saw them pouring in whole milk!!! Oh well. At least I went with banana. DD had Oreo!

Becky- Can you get a fast pass for the Zephyr?

Yes, if you are a member. That and the Coal Mine have the fast passes ;) (Member Express). Unfortunately you can't split your party up, so you have to pick which one to get. We have only done it once, I thought it was kind of neat but there is a talking Donkey on it and it freaked out one of the kids last time we were members (It was one of the younger 2 but I'm trying to think if DS-4 was even alive then!), so we haven't done it since.

We always get the tickets for the Coal Mine if we are choosing to do tickets. OOPS -- Had to edit this because I just went there and saw the Coal Mine is closed until 4/4 for renovation. It won't be available during spring break.

Last time was interesting because both ways to get to the Member Express for the Coal Mine were roped off with DO NOT ENTER signs because they were doing remodeling/updating (on BOTH sides -- although I did find a whole section of the museum that I didn't even know was there by going on the opposite side to get there than we were used to -- it was the part with the babies...:scared1: So I hurried through that one with the kids besides the fact that our time on the express tickets were coming up & I was trying to hurry. It's a big maze that direction -- probably why we never go that way.)

I asked the guy at the front of the line "umm...how do we do this?" After we tried both ways and they were both roped off -- I was baffled. He told me to just go under the ropes but be really careful (apparently they were told it wouldn't be roped off). So we did. :lmao: I was waiting for security to come yell at us or something (or for people to make snide comments about us going under these obvious ropes to keep people out) but luckily you can see the entrance of the coal mine from the 2nd level, so the guy just gave us a thumbs up, so I gave him one back when we were in place. So we both knew we were on the same wavelength.

We are going there Saturday to see Alton. My poor 7 year old was so depressed when he found out he's not going to the museum. I was only able to get 4 tickets so the luck of the draw being the younger child. Although my mom just told me they are thinking of taking the kids to something that is for kids "2-8" so I have no idea where they might go on Saturday. Hopefully it's fun.

Blahhh just got home from the Doc. Autumn got better and Gabriel took a turn for the worst. He got all limp and had a fever of 103.6 it was terrifying!
He has an ear infection and the flu

Bunchy thanks for that info about the AG sale! Argggg....We get home from Mexico that saturday?!?! :sad2: I wonder if we will even feel like driving to Madison on sunday....hmmm....

Hi gang! Kind of slow around here today. We all must have been enjoying the almost spring-like weather.

DMM - Prayers and pixie dust for the kiddos. Keep them away from the liitle guy!

Becky - Good to know the info on the Member Express passes for the Coal Mine. We haven't done that yet since the line is always such a long wait. Next time we will. Have fun at Alton this weekend! Tell us about it.

Bunchkin - I know what you mean about the permission slip thing. We haven't gotten the onslaught yet but I know it is coming. Why the 6th graders need to go eat lunch at Medevil Times is beyond me.

All this talk about the pearls in Japan and I am going to have to consider doing this. I seriously looked at doing it 2 years ago and didn't and don't remember why. Maybe...just maybe...

I decided to start packing for Disney next week. Guess what? I can't find my packing list. I have kept a basic packing list on the computer and now can't find it. We did switch computers but I thought my packing list was transferred. Now I have to get my brain busy and think and plan.

Have a good night. See ya'll tomorrow.
Lori

next week at this time, i will be seeing my brother.

i have not packed a thing yet.

i hate the last minute packing........

Okay, I have to share this dream before I forget it (I normally don't have dreams that I remember).
I was dreaming that I went to the hospital for something, and the nurse told me that I was pregnant. I said, "WHAT!" She said, "Your pregnant" I told her she was crazy, because I think I would have known. She said you are carrying high, and I still insisted that she was crazy. Sure enough, she did a test, and I was:eek: Then she told me that I needed to deliver right now:eek: So I left the hospital, and saw my real OB, and she confirmed that I was expecting. Next thing I know I'm on a surgical table outside, because I need to have a C-Section, because the baby is backwards. The dream ended with my FIL (Dick Clark) watching TV, and I told him to go get Kevin, because this is going to start, and my mom was walking away to see why she was hearing sirens:confused3 Then my alarm went off:headache: I'm so mad, because I wanted to see how it ended - was I having a boy or a girl? And why in the world was Dick Clark my FIL:confused3 I'm going to be trying to analyze this dream all day:rotfl:

traces - Welcome back!!!!!! :wave2: I'm sorry I can't help you with your questions, but I'm curious to see what others say about the double decker bus - I always wondered if this would be good to do too.
**Have a good time when you come!!!! :cool1:

Mac - Where does your brother live? Are you going to be gone a long time?

ID - The AG Show is something I want to do with my girls too before it closes ::yes::

Becky - I hope Kelly comes by, and if you're lurking, please come join the fun!!!! \

Bunchkin - Your gripe sounds like something I would gripe about too ::yes:: This has never happened at Stephanie's school, but it used to happen at the daycare. Then they changed it where you sign one general form, and the cost for the field trips are incorporated into the price - it's great!!!! :thumbsup2
**I'm going to have to check out those chocolate things from Market Day - I need to place my order either today or tomorrow - I love Market Day!!!! Have you tried their Potato Soup or Chicken Dumpling Soup? We LOVE those!!!!:goodvibes
**Thanks for sharing that email with us:)

paint - Some of those smoothies are so fattening, and full of carbs. I got a smoothie once from Jamba Juice, and I choose to look at the nutrition thing on it. I read that it had over 100 carbs:eek:  I couldn't believe it!!! I already ordered, so there was no turning back, but I just couldn't believe it!!!!

DMM - I sorry to hear that the kids are not feeling well :guilty: I will send tons of get well PD their way to feel better soon :wizard:

momto1 - How fun that you get to start packing:banana: Good luck doing it w/o your list:wizard:

Well, I guess I should get going - today is bathroom cleaning day!!!
Talk to you all later!!!

Good Morning!! :wave2:

Enjoy AG Place!!! What meal are planning on having there?

I think I will buy our tickets in advance for the museum. Another question, is it worth waiting in line for the submarine or coal mine? (oh, I see the coal mine is closed when we'll be there, which is March 27).

We're eating dinner at AG Place. We can't wait! :)

I went to this last year. It's only about 45 minutes from my house. I went on Sunday, when you didn't need a ticket. I got there early (I thought), at least an hour early and there was already 200 people ahead of me! But I still got what I wanted and there are a lot of good deals.

Just make sure you check everything you buy carefully, they are seconds and returns I believe. The Just Like You doll I got DD has something funny with her hair that I didn't notice until after I gave it to DD at Christmas. It's still fine and not noticeable, but I was a little disappointed. DD is happy with it. I only paid $35 though, when they are originally over $100.

Slo ~ I had a weird pregnancy dream too. In mine Dewain and Lauren were there and I was feeling like I had to push. That lasted what seemed like forever, so who knows.

Nathan is on day three home sick. Doctor found nothing on exam Monday, but I guess he will have to go back. The school's policy is out 2 days, need a doctor's note saying you can come back.

Traces7 ~ I personally don't care for the sub, but then I have seen it countless times by now. I would map out what else is on your "must see" list and then see how bad of a wait there is. Or, get to the sub first thing when the line may not be as long.

looking at the calendar i do see that it is bathroom day at the Slo house...

slo, my brother lives where they do the hula dances........can you guess now?

we visit back and forth alternating years of who goes there or here.

i get a hotel room and a discount as brother is a resident of the state there.

i am looking forward to nice weather and no white stuff on the ground.
but, i am fat again and the diet hasn't kicked in so i will look like a stuffed sausage in my shorts....

i'm sure that is more 411 than you wanted to know.

Good Morning everyone! :flower3: hope you are enjoying this beautiful, almost but not quite spring day!

Traces7 - I enjoyed the bus tour! Being born and raised in Chicago-land I thought I knew alot about the city and I still learned stuff! Also, another great tour-y type thing to do is the Architect tour on a boat off Navy Pier! I did that last summer too! I really enjoyed it! As for the Museum of Science and Industry, I don't really know I haven't been there since 1993... I'm more of a Field Museum, Planatarium, Aquarium gal... ::MinnieMo
