Whats for dinner?!

We're grilling out today !hahaha!! it's so cold but we're dying for it.

Mini burgers with avacado and tomato slices and Monterrey Jack cheese!

MMMMMMM!!! Sounds delicious! I swear I will eat anything if it has avocado on it! I got a sudden craving for Giordano's, so that's what we had for dinner tonight (and probably tomorrow, too, with all the left overs).

Winter has officially become the most unwelcome overstaying guest ever! We all DO know that we will go from 20 degrees straight to 80 degrees one of these days and the weather won't look back until summer is over (or November, depending on how Mother Nature is feeling).

I agree & yep...that's how it goes...one of these days it's just going to get hot. I think we have already paid back our debt for getting those nice winter days back in January when it was what 60? I knew we would have to pay for that somehow.

I was so depressed when I was listening today and it said "normal high is 46 and today's high will be 26" -- or something close to that. DD was walking in the St. Patrick's day parade they had today. I could NOT get warm after that -- I think I've had my coat on now ever since. Then she got to go do her school play.

The time changes tonight and I'm so dreading it...we have a gymnastics meet at 8:00 AM but since we are the hosting team we probably should be there before check-in time (even though no one told us exactly what time to arrive. I'm thinking 7:30ish). We just got home from the play/cast party about an hour ago. Tomorrow people are going to be CRANKY!!!!

While I was still in bed, I kept thinking to myself, "it's an hour earlier, I can stay in bed for awhile yet." Then I realized at 8:30 that it was really 9:30  and I sprang out of bed. I don't know why I did this, because I'm not going anywhere today:rolleyes: I guess it just felt weird for me to still be in bed at 9:30am - I never do that :sad2:

Kevin and I watched the movie DejaVu last night - with Dezel Washington. It was really good, and I recommend it to others. It's not a kids movie, so make sure the kids aren't around when you have it on.

Mac - I have saved some of Stephanie's teeth too. The ones that have a special place, are the ones that the dentist pulled out - he put those in a little treasure chest for safe keeping :teeth:

Bunchkin - I don't know why I put Market Day :confused3 I've been really screwing up my words lately - what in the heck is wrong with me:confused: I think I will blame it on winter :scratchin :rotfl:
**How much cheese did you use? Did you measure it, or just dump?

Leigh - :wave2:

DMM - Your dinner sounded good :goodvibes Kevin made Beef Stroganoff last night, and it was very yummy too ::yes:: Today he is making chili:goodvibes

Disneygal - What kind of dog do you have?

HERSEY - You are so funny:rotfl2: I laughed out loud when I read your post:rotfl:

momto1 - There's a Once Upon A Child by me too. I wonder if it's a franchise :scrachin I thought the one by me was the only one - unless you are coming out by me.

froggygirl - MMmmmmm.......Giordanos!!!! :goodvibes We don't have one by us, but we do have an Edwardos, which is as equally good!!!

Becky - I bet you were cold :cold: Was your DD in the parade for gymnastics?

Well, I need to start thinking about some breakfast
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Hi all! This cold is really kicking my butt. I also want winter to end. I want to be able to go outside without a coat and not freeze.

How did everyone do with the time change. I was a little confused this morning until I confirmed with the news this morning was the time change day. It was so dark this morning.

are you at WDW for Star Wars weekend?? It is so much fun...

Yes, we'll be there for a Star Wars Weekend. I don't know how much we'll get involved with it as I can't find much in the way of details yet (the 2008 info I've seen so far is confusing or vague).

Glad to hear it's much fun! We'll be @ the Disney Hollywood Studios park so we'll try! :)

Me and the girls had such a hard time going to sleep last night :headache: It has to be because of the time change - I can't think of any other reason. Stephanie didn't complain about it, but Katie sure did. She kept saying, "Mommy, I can't fall asleep!!!!" She finally did at around 10:30pm. I don't think I fell asleep until about 12:30am, which is frustrating, because I went to bed at 9:45pm:rolleyes: Now, this morning, I'm feeling so so tired!!!!! :faint: But I got a good startel, first thing this morning, when I went downstairs - the security alarm went off:eek: I hurried up and looked at the system, and I set it on "away" instead of "stay" and I triggered the motion sensor (at least I know that works:rolleyes: ) so I hurried up and turned that off - I hope this is not a sign on how the rest of the day is going to be:rolleyes:

What did everyone do yesterday?
I had a very productive day!!! I cleaned out Katies closet, and threw alot away. Then I rearranged Katies bedroom furniture - it looks great in her room now :thumbsup2 Then I vacuumed 3/4 of the house, and cleaned the kitchen floor - it was a great cleaning day!!!! :teeth:

HERSEY - I normally never have a hard time with the time change, but I really am this year. I do like this time change though, so I'm sure I'll adjust myself soon:thumbsup2

Joe - Have fun planning your trip!!! :cool1:

Well, I gotta run and change the sheets (Monday is sheet changing day)
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Joe and geffric- I am hoping to be there during the SW weekends! Just another enticement for DFiance on our honeymoon (that sounded bad, a litttle!). We are trying to fit our honeymoon between our wedding and my sister's in June. Grr!
Slo- Yep! We were up late, too. I let them sleep in a hlf hour so we are running around like crazy now. I set the timer for ds' shower- 5 mins! It is beeping now!
Check back later!

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a fab weekend! We did nothing, just hung around the house! I hate driving anywhere in the snow esp. with little kids!

Time change is alright, doesn't affect me too much :)

Happy Monday (NOT)

Well here we are again, the start of another week and it's cold and gray outside. Not too appealing, but yesterday was sort of nice. The later it got, the warmer it got. Interesting!

I don't think there were many pictures of me as a little baby. I've never seen that many. By the time the fifth one comes along, there's not a lot of time for picture taking. The teeth I had when I was born were called milk teeth and they didn't pull them until they could actually see the other teeth coming in behind them, which were late because of the milk teeth. That was around 2 years old.

I didn't have any trouble sleeping last night, but my stomach clock was off all day. Ending up eating dinner late at around 6:00 p.m., which is late for Sunday dinner at our house. No one was hungry?? We all slept pretty well although it did take a while to actually fall asleep last night.

Hersey! What do you like about the ticker? The ticker itself or the dates? Are we going to be there the same time? I thought I remember something about the 4th of July for you right? I could be mis-remembering though...

Well, gotta get to work... blah! See y'all soon!

Slo - I have a 13 year old West Highland Terrier! He is super cute :dogdance:

I did ok with the time change for once! I usually forget but I was the one who remembered this year! Did it come early this year or is it me? I had a crazy morning today though. There was an accident at my train station and had forgotten my cell at home, fearing I would be stuck for who knows how long, I went back to get it and chose to find an alternative way downtown! Fortunately though I was only 7 minutes late and my boss understood completely! :) Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everybody! I felt like I had been hit by a truck most of the day yesterday. I think due to the time change. I slept fine last night but ds had a horrible time getting to sleep. I didn't dawn on me that it could be the time change.

Slo- Once Upon A Child's are a chain. There are several around Chicagoland. I am glad they finally got one pretty close to my office and not off the burbs somewhere. How was the communion class?

I think I am going to follow Slo's housecleaning schedule! I always giggle when I see what room you are cleaning for the day!

Better get to work!
Lori

Whew!!! I think I might catch up.

My kids put their teeth in a ziplock baggie that they put near their door under "whatever" -- since we know it has to be under something, sometimes we just grab a stuffed animal and hey, that works as a pillow. :lmao: I do not like doing the tooth fairy because I have light sleepers and bunk beds to deal with. Therefore, I instituted the baggy policy. Their money is returned to them in a ziplock baggie under whatever plush item we happen to have handy when we go to bed.

I then put them in an envelope in a dresser drawer in my room & will give it to them if & when they loose all their teeth. DD's birthday is today, she's 14 & she STILL has baby teeth. According to the orthodontist x-ray, there is a match up for every baby tooth there is an adult tooth there. Her retainer isn't fitting her correctly, I called and said it needs to be looked at because her new teeth are coming in so it won't fit. The person who answered the phone did a "new teeth? That's weird" probably because looking at her birthday you would think she would be done with the baby teeth. Oh well...she takes after me. Who knows how long I would have them if I didn't have crummy teeth that would get cavities. The baby tooth would get a cavity and the dentist would yank it out rather than fill it. I was in middle school when that was happening. I remember when my mom gave me my old teeth -- my reaction was "EWWWW...GROSS" and into the garbage they went. I had no intentions of keeping my kid's teeth but somehow it didn't seem right to get rid of them once it became a reality -- so I figured that would be one of their decisions since they are their old teeth.

This weekend was insanely busy for us but we survived....I still feel like I'm spinning though. Friday was the middle school play.

Saturday DD had an hour gymnastics practice, marched in the St. Charles St. Patrick's day parade, then went and did the play a 2nd time and they had their cast party until 9:30 pm....then there was that time change issue.

Sunday morning she had a gymnastics meet that she had to be there at 8:00 AM except we were the hosting team, we needed to be there earlier than that. We got there about 7:45 -- I was *trying* to get there at about 7:30 but it wasn't happening with the time change. It was her first time doing optionals, so it was interesting. She got pretty low scores but we expected that. She had missed a lot of practice due to the play. The worst part was she fell off the uneven bars on her dismount from the high bar. Apparently she wanted to give me a heart attack. I was taping with the camera and all of a sudden I see her do her swing and she was supposed to do a flip, looked like both her feet hit the bar and down she went. The way the gym is set-up, I couldn't see how she landed. I didn't quite panic because there was no real freak out reaction from her coach that was attempting to spot her (hard to do with the way she hit). Next thing I know she pops up to do her final salute to the judge and she's laughing. WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't end up taping her bouncing back up but I should have -- it was quite amusing (after I started breathing again!) After they were all done I had to ask her what happened because it was hard to tell from where I was sitting it looked like both feet hit and she bounced off the bar. She told me the top of one of her foot hit the bar and she DID bounce, she ended up landing on her behind vs. flat on her back. She said she was laughing about it due to the way she landed. Luckily, she wasn't upset or anything because she literally had just learned that routine on Saturday, so she was happy with her score which ended up being a 5.5 I believe. I haven't uploaded the footage of her floor & bars routine from this meet but I will. It's totally different than what is already on there (the bars aren't too much different).

I'm off to see if my hole where my tooth was pulled in Jan. is still healing well, then, in a few hours the orthodontist...DD is happy/sad because they sing Happy Birthday to you in Choir on your birthday but she's going to miss that class because she's being pulled...oh well, she'd rather miss 2 hours of school since I'm not sending her back.

Then DS has a cub scout thing to do and DD has gymnastics practice -- which reminds me I have to see if I bought enough cookies since it's both Level 5 + tonight. I'm not sure how many girls are in Level 5. There are only 5 of them in DD's group which is the "+" group.

Slo - I have set off my house alarm on accident... was taking Buddy (my dog) to the groomer and was going to let him in the dog run before I left, forgetting that I had already set the alarm, boy was that loud! Next thing i know i have the alarm company calling me, the police dept calling me... i felt REALLY stupid. Fortunately though, I have never done that since! Also, mine beeps for 30seconds when I set it to away, so I know if I will be setting off the motion detector.

On another note - the boyfriend and I are going on our first trip together to WDW in 38 days... I've been reading about this oyster/pearl thing in Epcot Japan... does anybody know anything about it? it sounds neat and I love pearls but do not own any... yet! Any suggestions would be appreciated! TIA!::MinnieMo

I set off my house alarm once, too. I forgot it was set and stupidly open the door. It was sooo loud! :scared1: I turned it off really fast. ADT didn't call me, which I didn't really like  , but I'm assuming it's because I turned it off so fast and they figured it was just a mistake. Another time or two it was beeping because it couldn't get a signal or something, and and they did call me then, so I do know it's hooked up to something. :rotfl2:

Hey everybody, hope all had a great weekend. Boy was it a struggle to get up today, it is always so hard to get up when it is still dark outside!

momto1 - wondering how it works at Once Upon A Child, do you get a fairly good price for kids clothes? I've been bagging up old clothes for Amvets but I kept out some of the nicer (Gymboree, Gap, etc) stuff. Wondering if I should try taking them there.

Becky - where does your dd go to gymnastics? My dd11 does gymnastics but just recreationally. She started at IGI at 4yrs and was cruising right along but the time and $$$ started to wear on us so she dropped out for a while. Is now at Aerial.

Well, it's not WDW but we're off to Hilton Head for Spring Break so that is my focus for the next two weeks. Need to pack and plan!

Have a great day everyone, think warm spring thoughts.

Howdy!!

I've used Once Upon A Child a few times to get rid of clothes that the kids have out grown.
They do only take major lables, boutique clothes and the like.
I've always gotten a decent price on my kids clothes. The most I ever have gotten paid from them, which was also the largest amount of clothes I ever brought in, was around $365!! :goodvibes
All Gap, Disney, Osh Kosh, Carters, Lord and Taylor, Fields, Ralph Lauren and the like, and a few boutique dresses we got in California.
They have gotten pickier over the years at the location we go to.
Disney isn't a big deal any more since you can get Disney clothes really any where now.
They do buy Disney costumes though.
Don't forget they also buy shoes and toys that are in really good condition too.

Our schedule was way off yesterday!!!
Late waking up, took forever shopping, late getting to a jewelry party ACROSS THE STREET(the traffic was killer!! ) , ate lunch late, late getting to a b-day party for my nephew, late getting home from the party, kids then ate dinner late, and then got to bed late.

slo I think I used about a 1/4 cup of shredded Italian blend cheese.
I'm not much of a measuring person unless of course I'm baking! :)

Afternoon everyone. Time change hit me last night hard. I had a terrible headache and went to bed shortly after I got home from work. (Probably because I had to get up at 4am instead of 5 for work) Was asleep before 9. I even was in bed before DD was done in the bath!!:rotfl2: It sure felt good, though. I wasn't so dead this morning getting up to make lunches and get the kids going for school. They would've slept longer, for sure.
Slo, I think I need to follow your housekeeping schedule, too. It seems I am always cleaning something or another. Maybe I need to put myself on a schedule. Post yours. Then we could all follow along.:rolleyes1
disneygal, I did the oyster thing years ago in that little town near DW (Celebration?). You pick whichever oyster you want and then they open it for you and whatever pearl is inside is yours. You never know what you are going to get until they open the oyster. I got a really nice one. Then they have things you can choose from to mount it into (I put mine on a whale's tail-that was the cheepest thing to choose from and I was on a college kids' budget back then) or you can just take the pearly and choose to do something with it later if you want.
Sure hope all of you with Spring Break trips have a great time. We'll be staying home. Hope to see some Disers on the break!!!!! Just looking forward to weekdays/nights without homework to check and lunches to pack. I don't know about all of you, but I am pretty tired of homework!! :rolleyes1
Was on the WDW website this am and plotted my souvenier maps with my favorite things to do. They should arrive in about 2-4 weeks. That will give me something to look forward to. Our WDW vacation just seems so far away. We do have the wedding at DL in June, but that is not the same as WDW and staying at the resort. I think I am most looking forward to the resort stay this year. And some relaxation at the pool. And going back to BOMA for a lunch and a browse around the AKL Resort. I can make ADRs any time now. Just haven't gotten around to plotting. Bad Diser!!!:upsidedow
Well, better run. Off to school for Market Day to sort the boxes and pick up my order (and Dinner).

Becky - where does your dd go to gymnastics? My dd11 does gymnastics but just recreationally. She started at IGI at 4yrs and was cruising right along but the time and $$$ started to wear on us so she dropped out for a while. Is now at Aerial.

We go through our park district. It's not exactly cheap but from what I can tell it's probably cheaper than some of the other clubs around here. When she first started a million years ago (she started at 4 1/2 and I know she was on team in 3rd grade at Level 4. I just can't remember if she made Level 4 in 2nd grade or 3rd grade -- I think it was summer between the 2!), she is now Level 6/Optionals. She repeated the levels a few times. When we started we competed in the Illinois Park Distric Gymnastics (IPDG) which is fairly low-key. A few years ago we moved to GIJO competitions (Greater Illinois Junior Olympics) --which from I can figure out is -- they use the USAG routines but they aren't quite as strict in judging??? Basically they go by the High School rules???? I don't understand it all because no one tells us exactly what's going on. Since DD isn't going to be heading off to the Olympics, I'm not too worried about it. She goes 3 days/week so it's not an every day commitment & if she misses for school stuff it's not horrible.

Extremely slow week. One show.

YAY!!! Have fun!

They also have the pearl places:

on the back Boardwalk area of the Yacht and Beach club and at Down Town Disney near Captain Jacks I believe.

It's a lot of fun. You pick an oyster and they open it up right there and make a huuuge deal about it and then you get to see what kind of pearl you got.
They used to offer a discount on getting it set into something right then and there! I bought a gorgeous strand of pearls there years ago. Over by the YAcht Club when we were staying there. I will see if I can find it in the morning :)
