Hello everyone again! No big Valentine's Day plans for us We have too much to get ready for right now, but I am getting this:

Except obviously it will have my 3 kids names on the front and mine and sals names on the back with our wedding date! He ordered it for me and i'm not supposed to know, but i've been dying for one FOREVER!!

Hello!!



I'm sick....AGAIN!! Another sore throat and stuffy nose/head/ears thing. And it seems both kids are stuffy too...again!!!
I'm going to buy a huge industrial size can of Lysol from Sam's Club and spray every single inch of this house!! Of course doing that may not only kill the germs but the fumes may kill us too!!! At least if I'm dead I won't be sick any more!!!



Tomorrow I help out at DS's school party. I was going to also help out at DD's but I had to cancel out on that one. She's not happy.

Becky Do you have any baby Oragel or the like? That stuff always numbs my tongue even if that's not the intended spot. Maybe with a little of that in your mouth you might feel better. Or at least be able to eat!!

I had originally put "Mouse for Less" in my post but then when I went and noticed the link name I thought I had it wrong. Apparently I'm not as confused as I thought I was.



It wasn't a very long wait. They still have the different flavored syrups.

I have the weirdest thing right now & it's driving me batty. My tongue is sore. It feels like it's got this huge cut or something but it's toward the back and it basically hurts to swallow. I hope it goes away soon. I don't like not being able to eat.

I have a meeting at the Middle School tonight so hopefully the weather will be decent.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone

Get yourself to your doctor. Strep is making the rounds. At first it can give you vague symptoms. I've had strep it so not fun.

Really? I only had Strep once and it was definitely not like this. My throat itself isn't hurting. I'm thinking if it's not better past the weekend, I guess I will have to call and once again have the doctor's think I'm crazy. Life would be so much easier if we had normal symptoms of things -- you know a fever? throwing up? really bad sore throat? Any classic symptoms of diseases. I do know the 1 & only time DD had strep she didn't have a sore throat -- she just was exhausted, she fell asleep driving her home from school & we only live about 5-10 min. away. I wouldn't have suspected strep if I hadn't been talking to her Girl Scout leader while waiting for them to get out of school and found out 2 girls in the troop had Strep. All the girls in the troop were also in her class at school. We hadn't had a note come home from the nurse yet. Apparently the magic number is 3 cases of strep before a note goes out because AFTER I called DD in with strep was when we got a note in the backpack. The doctor's office did think I was a little weird calling saying "My DD is extremely tired and I would like her tested for Strep. No, no fever. No, no sore throat. No other symptom BUT the extreme tiredness." That was back when she was in 1st grade.

Then again, I should know....my kids never have normal symptoms of anything, why should I be any different. Actually, I think they get it from ME. I'm always getting the this isn't supposed to happen/is rare speech about something that is happening with me. I had to get a tooth pulled and sure enough it was a difficult case because I got the "hmm...this is unusual/doesn't happen" in that I apparently had no root (would explain why my regular dentist was BAFFLED as to why I didn't have pain before the tooth got this bad) and has fused to the bone, so it made a very difficult removal.

Sorry to hear you are sick. I don't have anything like that here. I have just been having Instant Breakfast and I just happened to have some Jell-o made. I did make mashed potoates yesterday too. The worst part for ME is I can't even chew on the opposite side of my mouth because that is the side I had the tooth removed from and I'm not supposed to chew on that side since it's still healing. So I'm stuck, otherwise I don't think it would be as bad.

Becky - How is your tongue this morning?

It still hurts but I THINK it's feeling a bit better. It's not quite as severe of pain as before. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I'm just hoping to wake up in a couple more days and it not hurt at all. That would be nice.

I had a meeting at the middle school yesterday about special ed (my son has a reading disability) and you know what? I think I'm WAY more confused than I was to start with. They didn't really tell me a whole lot since 90% of the stuff they did tell you ended up with "They will go over this with you at your annual reviews. It varies every year how many students are doing this & what we are doing in it." About the only golden nugget I came away with is that yes there will be a representative from the middle school at our IEP meeting to determine which placement your child is at and that I don't have to be so stressed about him taking choir. Normally, if you take choir that takes the place of your study hall. I wasn't so sure how that was going to work with DS BUT in this case they will do the 3/2 split for study hall just like they do the band/orchestra kids. So basically Mon/Wed will be choir Tues/Thurs will be study hall and they will alternate every other Friday. DD is jealous of that (of course! My kids will fight over *everything* -- the first year DS went to summer school, DD got upset that she couldn't go! Geesh!!! What kids fight over GETTING to go to summer school!?!?!?!)

Well...this is an interesting turn of events. DH has been feeling miserable for a few days, so is staying home from work today. He was running a fever last night. He just came up the stairs and said "My throat hurts" -- so of course, I think of this post and think Hmm...maybe you have strep. Looks like we might be taking him over to the walk-in clinic soon to find out. At least he has normal symptoms. Although...I have been avoiding him like the plague as much as possible the past couple days.

Now ds is in middle school, this was the first year of no valentine's cards. So sad...He is growing up!

I think we are going out to dinner tonight. We have a gc for a local pizza joint.

Becky- my ds does the 3/2 split with band and study hall. We started the year with 5 days of band. But, he is...um....pretty darn unorganized and not getting work turned in! So...we pulled him from band and then built him back up to 3 days with 2 study hall days. It works for him. He thinks the band teachers hate him but he probably needs to not goof off when he is in band. He is a free spirit to say the least. I was glad the school was so willing to work this out.

That's good. I know my DD had orchestra & choir in both 6th & 7th grade, which does the 3/2 split so I'm familar with how it works. She dropped it for this year (she's in 8th) and is only doing choir. For "regular" students -- if you only choose 1 of those music classes you have to go 5 days/week for it. They tell you up-front it takes the place of your study hall. I didn't know it was an option with study hall though (for most kids it's not) but that makes life a little easier. Organization is NOT his best skill either, plus that is when they get help with their Science & Social Studies if they are as to what is going on in class. The only thing that I can see being confusing is remembering which Friday which class you are supposed to go to. It changes every other week. They do have a sign that is in the front of the classroom that will have it turned on Monday that says "Choir" or "Band/Orchestra" for the Friday to help the kids (for that matter probably help the teacher remember! I know I would get mixed up).

The kids only have 1/2 day here so I have to go pick up the boys soon. I've been running around like a crazy person. I took DH to the clinic -- the doctor took one look at his throat and went "Yes, you have strep". We thought that was odd with no culture but it must have been bad (or at least bad enough that he needed antibotics no matter what). I did ask about my tongue if I should get tested and the doctor didn't think so. I'm going to let it go & then go to my regular doctor if I think there is still a problem. The freaky part is the nurse thought DH had an irregular heartbeat so they checked his heart/pulse a couple times and then started asking all sorts of heart related questions (lightheadness, swollen ankles, etc...). The doctor did a re-listen and said everything sounded fine...so I guess we are OK for right now. So, ran to the store for the antibotics, 7-up, Tylenol (since DH read the paper that said to NOT take aspirin -- which is what we have for the big people in the house) and well...then ICE CREAM but that is for ME!!!!!! I figure I can probably manage eating ice cream? You think? It's chocolate...DD's going to come home see that in the freezer and try to confiscate it. She's not getting it. I guess I can count the ice cream as my Valentine's day present...although DH said he already gave me mine on Tuesday. I have NO IDEA what he is talking about. Apparently, he bought me something on Tuesday and I'm clueless as to what it was I already got -- unless that was a day I went shopping and he's counting that? Maybe he's just delerious from being sick.

Hi all!
Happy Valentine's Day to all here!!

Sorry, I haven't been here for awhile. Been quite busy lately.
Too many snow days and school institute days off the last week and a half, I was going kinda crazy lately
Alot of school stuff/scout stuff goings on lately.
Matthew was in the school variety show almost 2 weeks ago. He played the clarinet solo. He did awesome!! No mistakes whatsoever What a ham he is
5th grade band is going well for him, too.
Both Chrissy and Matthew are in a school musical program next week.

and PD to all that need them.

Vday was pretty good. The kids' parties were hit and we went to a new theater to see Spiderwick. It was really good, but dd sat on my lap and was cutting of my circulation. She is a chicken and was kind of scared. Ds loved it, though. Dfiance gave me a beautiful bracelet. The jewlry store must love us as of late.
Okay. Now I really need to do homework. I know I end a lot of my posts that way, but this time I mean it.

Donald's Shrink ~ I just want to let you know that you, and the entire NIU family are in my thoughts tonight. I am so sorry that this horrific event took place and I just wish there was something that I could do to ease the pain that must be felt.
