Hi, all! Hope you guys are enjoying the warmer weather, I know for sure I am!

Slo..I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Please keep us posted on what happens with the doctor.

Bunchkin...also sorry to hear about your reaction...sounds like an allergy?? I wonder if it *was* something in the pizza recipe.

Geofric...congratulations on the Eagle Scout!!! What an amazing accomplishment! How is the new job going, and are you getting used to "lady shoes" yet?!

Dgal...we will be looking for a trip report when you get back!

ID...hope your little one feels better quickly. No fun being sick!

Piglet...hope YOU feel better, too.

Mac...thank you, always, for posting the tv listings! (and I *still* would LOVE a picture trip report of your trip to Hawaii!!)

Hersey...is Boston Legal the one with William Shatner? I can't keep track of all the law shows anymore.

Speaking of shows, anyone watching Idol? I LOVE David Cook...I don't want him to win, because I want him to be free to record whatever he wants, but he seems to have an incredible talent! I was shocked when Michael Johns got voted off last week, though!!!

And, finally, my son's gf is still doing GREAT! We are so thankful for all of her progress!

Shout out to all Chicago peeps..have a wonderful day!

Happy Thursday everyone!!

Thanks for the concern over my reaction to the pizza we ate. :goodvibes
The pizza was like a bruschetta, cheesey with chopped tomatos on top. No pizza sauce on it. So who knows what caused the reaction. :confused3 I still do look a little like I have a sunburn, it's wierd!! But it's just in the skin tone and it's not itchy. So I guess I'll live. ;)

We've been thinking of changing our summer plans.
We are planning to go to the American Girl Benefit sale again this year and stay up there an extra day to celebrate DS's b-day, which is the day before the sale.
But DH and I have been looking into going to Colonial Williamsburg Virginia instead. The prices are great and there is so much to do, not only there but the surrounding areas as well.
Yesterday I asked DD if she would mind skipping the sale this year and instead go to Williamsburg. She was actually really excited at the thought of cancelling the AG sale trip and going to Williamsburg. I was shocked!!

Our family is big on history.

Anyone been watching HBO's John Adams series?

slo I hope the tests go well for you. I'm sorry to hear you weren't feeling well!! But I'm glad you're doing better this week!! :goodvibes Let us know what the results are!

Tiggerrn I forgot to say what was in the Mickey Moms Club Kit!
It was a large envelope that had a welcome letter, mouse pad & magnetic bumper sticker with the club name and logo on them, 2 Tinker Bell trading pins, an updated 2008 planning DVD, sticker sheet for the kids with the Fab 5 on them. I think that was it.

piglet Sorry you're not feeling well this morning. Not a fun way to start the day!! :headache:

Donna We only watch the try-outs of AI. We used to watch the whole contest but haven't in years.

geffric Well, if you weren't near chocolate land maybe you at least got yourself a Philly cheese steak sandwich!!

froggygrrl I haven't been to Fozx Valley in a while. But Cinnabon's are good! My kids and I like the sticks!

Irish dancer Congrats on still be able to get up at the crack of dawn!! :thumbsup2
Hope your DD is felling better!

Hi all -- I'm sorry to hear those of you that are under the weather.

I haven't been here in a while -- just hanging out, etc...

Went to the cheerleading parent meeting at the HS yesterday and all I can say is "what did I get myself into with DD & this sport" -- YIKES!!!

I'm still trying to figure out why we have to buy 3 pairs of shorts!!!! I have no idea why when I was hearing one of the coaches say the Freshman practice about 2x week unless it's near homecoming or something and then it would be more -- so it's not like they are assigned certain short colors to wear on certain practices or something. *very weird*

I hate to see how much that's all going to cost as there were no prices and being Freshman we basically had to order *everything* -- Cha-ching. Along with we have to get the $240 camp fee in by June 2.

The good news is I stopped by the doctor's office and DD's physical is good until August, so *WHEW* I can leave her appointment for her 9th grade physical like I have it instead of having to move it up as they have to have a physical by camp time which is the end of July.

It was quite the confusing saga and I'm not so sure what world I've gotten myself propelled into -- at least one of the moms sitting at the same table was very nice. She asked if we were on the Freshman squad (umm...yeah isn't it obvious by the deer in headlight look for sizing & what we should order?) and she was very helpful in telling us "you probably want THIS size" and you DO want the cheer bag, it's really nice, etc... :rotfl:

Nothing else is happening with us. We are just taking things one day at a time here and well....possibly looking into a Disney cruise in 2010 -- maybe that has big ????? all over it depending on what is going on then and how things go, so no real planning on any of that other than asking for the informational DVD.

I have some time to kill before going home from work, so I thought I would stop and say "HI" :wave2:

Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts and words about whatever is going on with me. I truthfully am not stressing out about it, because I know everything happens for a reason (even if I don't understand the reason immediately). I'm so glad to be feeling better, that it's been quite easy to not eat anything sugary - I don't want to feel bad like that again for awhile :sad2: I'm praying I'm not diabetic, or even the beginning stages of being diabetic, but if I am, so be it - I will perserver!!!!!

The doctors appointment today was very uneventful. I told the Doctor whats going on, and he took a full blood workup (he doubts it will show much since I've been so stict on my diet since Sunday afternoon). Then May 10th I'm going to go back for a 3 hour glucose test (similiar to the one you take when you are pregnant). I'm assuming this will really tell what's going on.

piglet - I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well today? I'll send mountains of PD your way to feel better soon!!! :wizard: :wizard:

ID - I'm sorry to hear of your DD not feeling well either :guilty: I'll send tons of PD her way to, so she can feel better soon!!!:wizard: :wizard:

paint - Did you get any more RSVP's for the shower? I've been amazed at the amount that I got this week for Stephanie's First Communion. I actually don't think I will need to call anyone now :woohoo:

Donna - I am so happy about Brians GF doing better:yay: What great news!!!:woohoo:

Bunchkin - I want to go to Williamsburg!!!!! I really do - I love history, and actually entered college as a history major, but then changed it. That vacation sounds awesome!!!:cool1:
**Do you have HBO? I want to see John Adams so bad, and I'm hoping they bring it to DVD so I can see it?

Becky - If you ever need any cruise information, you have many people here that can help you. And if we can't answer something, we'll be able to find someone that can - especially geffric - she's a very experienced cruiser :sail:

Well, it's about time to go :woohoo:
Have a good day night everyone!!!

Well, self-diagnosing here, but I have a UTI. I had Dewain pick up some special pain medication for me (my Mom swears by it for her UTIs) and will wait to go to the doctor until Saturday. I have a real important Tastefully Simple event tomorrow and Saturday, and just do not have the time to go to the doctor right now. I know I should at least go to one of the clinics at CVS or Walgreen's but I am being stubborn.

Ugh! UTIs are the worst! I can't believe you are able to wait to go to the doc! The last time I had a UTI was a couple of years ago, but it was on the same day as the first heavy snowfall of the season, the day where evening commute times were taking 3-5 hours. :scared1: It usually takes me about 15 minutes to get home, but that day it took almost an hour. I bawled the entire way.

Piglet- Get better soon! Be sure to go to the dr if you are not. I let one go too long oce. I just about died, I tell ya'!
Slo- Hope those tests show something that way you can start feeling better! We had a couple late rsvp'ers and my matron of honor called one. i think we are going to have 25 out of the 30 invited. Are you having the party at your house?
I really enjoyed that weather! we played hooky from dance class tonight so the kids could continue to play in the yard while I cleaned. DD lost another tooth this morning and put it in a napkin. I told her not to...and guess what? She did and now we don't know where it is! She cried, but I told her the tooth fairy would still bring her money!
Okay. Back to Spanish homework. Only a week or so of class left before finals!

evening chicagoland homies.

slo, feel better soon.

you won't know what you are dealing with until all your tests and labs are done.

have you in my prayers.

and a happy day to all the other chi town homies here...

Good morning everyone! I feel slighty cheated I didn't feel any earthquake. I felt the one in the 80's but not this one.

I hope everyone else is fine.

We have had a great couple of days weatherwise haven't we?

Piglet I second not letting things go to long. Get yourself in to the doctor.

Slo Don't self diagnosis. This comes from someone who does this too ;).

Well let me down some more coffee I think I'm going to need it today.

I felt the earthquake! Weird! I was actually awake, and I started shaking, and I wondered if it was just me. :rotfl2: But then I could hear the wall/window vibrating a little, and so I knew it wasn't. When it kept going and going, I realized that it wasn't just a truck or something, that it must be an earthquake.

There was one a while back (maybe 15 years ago or so?) that I felt, too, but I think this one was stronger.

Then a little while ago (like 10-15 minutes), I think I felt another one, but that time I was waking up, so maybe I was just dreaming it? Because no one else on tv has mentioned it. :confused3 I guess I'll have to wait and see.

:surfweb:

That earthquake was really weird this morning. I was laying in bed after alarm #1 went off (I use 2 alarms) and I started feeling the bed shake. I looked behind me thinking one of the girls was shaking the bed (I didn't know what else to think) and when they weren't there I thought, "we are either having an earthquake or I'm dreaming". I was just about to wake up Kevin, literally my hand was on his arm, and then it stopped. So, I was glad to see about the earthquake on the news so I know I"m not cracking up:laughing:

piglet - I hate UTI's!!!!:headache: I'm sorry you think you have one:guilty: Drink lots and lots of cranberry juice, and I hope the mediciane works:wizard:
**Good luck with your party tomorrow - I'm sure you'll do well!!! :)

froggygrrlll - :wave2:

paint - We are having the party at a hall. It'll be really nice because the caterer is on the Chamber of Commerce with me, and him and his wife do such a nice job (I been to some other events at that hall). They are really helping me out - such nice people!!! :)

mac - Thanks!!! :goodvibes

HERSEY - If it makes you feel any better, Kevin didn't feel it either :sad2: I think he's feeling a little cheated too ::yes::
**I agree about not self-diagnosing, and I'm trying to not do that. But everything that's been going on with me has really added up to hyperglycemia. I hope I"m wrong, but if not, than I won't be surprised.

Well, I gotta go, and get my butt outside to take my walk
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Good morning Leigh :wave2:
We posted at the same time!!!!

morning chicagoland homies.

yes, the 5.4 earthquake was on the news this morning.

it centered in evansville.
it's not the first in that area.

my mother is from mt carmel and used to feel them there.

in southern illinois, you feel the quakes more often than not.
up here you buy flood insurance, down there we bought earthquake insurance.

gotta run, working today.
have fun today everyone.:yay:

Hi gang! I didn't feel the earthquake either but wish I did! Then people at work said they felft something about 10:15. I didn't in the part of the building I was in.

Slo and Piglet - I hope you both feel better. Take care of yourselves!

Paint - DS lost one of his teeth in our front yard. He was upset thinking the tooth fairy wouldn't come. We had home writer her a note explaining what happened! Guess what? She came! I hope you dd isn't too upset.

Becky - Yikes about the cheerleading stuff! It is great your daughter made it and next year you will be the mom helping the newbie mom!

Hope we have a nice weather weekend! We are going to try to get over to our camper and get one night of camping in.
lori

5.2 earthquake rocks large region of Midwest

WEST SALEM, Ill. - Residents across the Midwest were awakened Friday by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake that rattled skyscrapers in Chicago's Loop and homes in Cincinnati but appeared to cause no major injuries or damage.

The quake just before 4:37 a.m. was centered six miles from West Salem, Ill., and 45 miles from Evansville, Ind. It was felt in such distant cities as Milwaukee, Des Moines, Iowa, and Atlanta, nearly 400 miles to the southeast.

"It shook our house where it woke me up," said David Behm of Philo, 10 miles south of Champaign. "Windows were rattling, and you could hear it. The house was shaking inches. For people in central Illinois, this is a big deal. It's not like California."

In Mount Carmel, 15 southeast of the epicenter, a woman was trapped in her home by a collapsed porch but was quickly freed and wasn't hurt, said Mickie Smith, a dispatcher at the police department. The department took numerous other calls, though none reported anything more serious than objects knocked off walls and out of shelves, she said.

Also in Mount Carmel, a two-story apartment building was evacuated because of loose and falling bricks. Police cordoned off the building, a 1904 school converted to residences.

Bonnie Lucas, a morning co-host at WHO-AM in Des Moines, said she was sitting in her office when she felt her chair move. She grabbed her desk, and then heard the ceiling panels start to creak. The shaking lasted about 5 seconds, she said.

The quake is believed to have involved the Wabash fault, a northern extension of the New Madrid fault about six miles north of Mount Carmel, Ill., said United States Geological Survey geophysicist Randy Baldwin.

The last earthquake in the region to approach the severity of Friday's temblor was a 5.0 magnitude quake that shook a nearby area in 2002, Baldwin said.

"This is a fairly large quake for this region," he said. "They might occur every few years."

Initially reported as a 5.4-magnitude earthquake, the USGS revised its estimate to 5.2. Two aftershocks during the next three hours measured 2.6 and a 2.5. Residents in southern and central Illinois felt a third aftershock, but the USGS didn't immediately know its magnitude.

"This was widely felt, all the way to Atlanta, a little bit in Michigan," said USGS geophysicist Carrieann Bedwell.

Phones started ringing at the Crawford County Sheriff's Department in Robinson, about 15 miles north of the epicenter, but there were no immediate reports of damage, dispatcher Marsha Craven said.

"They didn't know if it was the refinery blowing up or an earthquake," she said, referring to the a local petroleum refinery.

In Cincinnati, Irvetta McMurtry said she felt the rattling for up to 20 seconds.

"All of a sudden, I was awakened by this rumbling shaking," said McMurtry, 43. "My bed is an older wood frame bed, so the bed started to creak and shake, and it was almost like somebody was taking my mattress and moving it back and forth."

Lucas Griswold, a dispatcher in West Salem, said the Edwards County sheriff's department received reports of minor damage and no injuries.

"Oh, yeah, I felt it. It was interesting," Griswold said. "A lot of shaking."

There were very few reports of damage in West Salem, a small town dotted by brick buildings and ranch-style homes in the middle of farm country.

"We're very thankful we had no one injured," said Harvey Fenton, West Salem's police and fire chief. He said a chimney fell off the roof of one house and there were various reports of cracks in walls.

Fenton was asleep in his house when the earthquake hit.

"A major shaking is the best way I can describe it," said Fenton, 58, who wasn't sure what to make of the sudden rumbling, thinking it was thunder or perhaps an explosion.

In Louisville, Ky., the quake caused some bricks to fall off a building near downtown. Television video showed them strewn in the street.

The quake shook skyscrapers in downtown Indianapolis, about 160 miles northeast of the epicenter and in Chicago's Loop, 230 miles north of the epicenter.

Chicago officials were checking structures downtown to ensure there was no damage.

On the Edens Expressway near Chicago a rebar pushed up from the pavement Friday morning and "flattened a few tires," said Illinois State Police spokesman Lt. Scott Compton, but it was unclear whether the quake had caused the expressway damage.

The strongest earthquake on record with an epicenter in Illinois occurred in 1968, when a 5.3-magnitude temblor was recorded about 75 miles southeast of St. Louis, according the USGS. The damage was minor but widespread and there were no serious injuries.

In 1811 and 1812, the New Madrid fault produced a series of earthquakes estimated at magnitude 7.0 or greater said to be felt as far away as Boston. They were centered in the Missouri town of New Madrid (pronounced MAD rid), 140 miles southeast of St. Louis.

Experts say that with the much higher population in the Midwest, another major quake along the New Madrid fault zone could destroy buildings, bridges, roads and other infrastructure, disrupt communications and isolate areas.

There could be another earthquake while I'm here at work, and as long as it's not more than what I felt this morning, I'd never know it, because I feel it here when people walk heavily. Everything here is vibrating all the time. :sad2:

Wasn't yesterday just beautiful?! :sunny:
My girls played outside last night until it started raining (it was dark out). We had the windows open - it was just great!!!! Spring is not my favorite season, but it is my second favorite. My favorite would be summer - bring on the heat!!!!!! :sunny:

Mac - That's interesting about the earthquakes down south - I didn't realize that many got earthquake insurance.
*Thanks for posting that article!!! :)

momto1 - Have fun camping!!!! :cool1:

Leigh - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and start getting ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

I hope everyone is doing well today. Yesterday seems like the day that wouldn't end.

We ended up grilling last night. I finally went a filled the tank. It felt like summer sitting outside and grilling.:)

I hope today gets better. Is anyone going to the events at Brookfield zoo today? We can't today but they are having an Earth day celebration http://www.czs.org/czs/Brookfield/Events/Party-for-the-Planet-(1)

Hi guys -

Yesterday was so busy I didn't have a chance to get online. After my morning walk I went to help set-up for our parish fashion show fundraiser, took most of the day. I also went to the fashion show then last night, it was a really nice and fun night, didn't win anything of course ;) .

Today was DD11s first track meet. She did two field events and two relays. They came 3rd in shot put and 4th in both relays, not bad for their first ever meet. It wasn't too bad except for the rain, of course it didn't start raining until the girls were in the holding area for the races. Poor things were huddled together, freezing and wet. Thankfully it stopped raining after the first race.

piglet - how are you feeling? I hope better and that your two shows go well this weekend.

mac - thanks for the article, very interesting.

Hershey - I love summer grilling. We grilled brats on Wednesday and had corn on the cob, it was great.

Well, have to run. DD6 brought a friend home from ballet so I'm going to run her home before my 2 nieces come for a sleepover. I think we're going to Barnaby's for pizza for dinner.

Have a great evening everyone!
