the boys and i shoveled around 10:40 once i got home from work today.

i went to get the mail at 2:30 and had to shovel my way to the mailbox.

it has snowed 5.5 inches since we last shoveled.

i've been told by the skool, come to work tomorrow, it will be reopened then.
i said, ok ......what a numbskull i was for saying that.

i don't want to shovel in the morning..........impossible to get sons up out of bed at 6 in the morning to help.

Hi all! The roads around here are crappy. We were let go an hour early. I was surprised I got home somewhat quickly, not to much traffic.

Alex was shovelling the driveway when I got home. What a good kid I wonder who his parents are? ;)

Sam I'm glad nothing happened to Megan. I hope you are recovered too

Mac I always was so scared something like that would happen to Alex. Glad your son was found so quickly.

Just popping in to tell everyone to stay safe!!!!!!! It is horrible out there (as I am sure you all know). Don't shovel if you don't have to. It's too heavy!!! Stay inside. I have a house filled with sick people so I am trapped anyway! I am crawling at the walls.

So sorry about your "mother's worst nightmare" stories Macraven & Piglet too. I am glad you are children are safe now.

You too Sam!

Afternoon all. Oh, icky day!!!!
Doesn't know if it wants to rain or snow. Right now, I believe it is water.:lmao: Give it a minute.
Mac, Piglet and Sam, I feel your sinking stomaches. DS is always wandering off. I have to hold that kids hand everywhere we go or he is gone. Glad to know all turned out well. How scarey!.
I scooped the slop out of the driveway after picking the kids up from school. Now I have that chill that won't go away.:sad2:
Mac, built that igloo yet? I hope you all stay safe. My bet is you won't have school tomorrow either. Silly people.
Well, I think I will go start a pot of chili for dinner tonight. Everyone stay warm and dry.

My DD goes to a Chicago Public School (which I am very happy with so far) and they NEVER have snow days!!!!!! I will feel guilty but since she already missed 3 days this week I will probably just keep her home another day). It is only preschool.

chgo skools rarely close.
only in teacher strikes...............:rolleyes1

one of my sons is an idiot today.
he insists he is going to see his girlfriend who lives in the palatine (think that is the burb) tonight.

i told him no he is not going out tonight at 1:00 today and still telling him no.

he asked me a few minutes ago, why?

i told him because he doesn't own the car or put the gas in it or pay the insurance. i do that and the car stays off the highway and side streets until tomorrow when the storm lets up.

he says, i watched the weather channel, it doesn't look too bad. i told him fine, now read a magazine to entertain your mind if you have nothing to do.
better yet, go outside and shovel more.

i have won this battle.............
that car sits where it is.

and he is still outside shoveling........

every other hour i send the boys out to shovel.

i'm gonna watch AI tonight.
hope it is better than it has been the last few nights its been on.

We were very lucky and got very little snow - maybe a couple of inches  Stephanie was disappointed, because she wanted another snow day. I keep telling her that she needs to make up all days in the summer, and then she'll be crying when she's at school, instead of being in the pool. But there's no convincing her :sad2:

Becky - How much snow did you end up getting?

paint - I"m sorry your MOH is failing to do her duties, but it's good you have others to help :) I hope she's not mad too, becuase you don't need any more tension from her. :sad2:

lajones - How much snow did you end up getting?

Sam - I'm so sorry that Megan hid from you and caused you upsettness  I've had something very similiar happen to me with Stephanie, and I understand how you felt, it's a very empty, sickening feeling :guilty: I hope she understands how upset you were, and doesn't do it again .
**The thing I question with what happened is the child care center not knowing if someone else picked her up of not. Do you have to sign her out when you take her, with a signature and a time? If so, why didn't they go to there ledger, and check it. If there was no signature, than that would assure you that she was there somewhere. I'm just curious.

Mac - I'm glad you won the battle with your son to keep him home (high-five to you!). That would have been such a risk for him to drive the car yesterday.
**Was Mr. Mac able to get a hotel room, or did he have to sleep at the airport?
**What a nightmare of what happened to your son. Even though is was awhile ago, I'm still sending hugs your way

Bunchkin - Stephanie is doing the jump rope for heart too at school, but not until next week. :)
**Did you end up getting alot of snow?

momto1 - Did your son have practice cancelled?

piglet - So many hugs to you too

HERSEY - Alex is such a good boy!!!! How nice that he started shoveling :goodvibes

Debbie - I'm sorry you have sickies in your house  I'll send tons of PD your way for them to feel better soon, and so that you don't get it :wizard:

Tigggerrrnnnnn - Chili was perfect for dinner last night ::yes::

Oh, I forgot to tell you that a salt truck kicked something up onto Kevin's car yesterday and cracked his windshield all the way across :headache: My friend/insurance agent is going to try and get the Illinois Tollway to pay for it (Kevin got all the info off the truck), and if they don't, than I guess we have to pay for it :headache: It's always something!!!! :headache:

Have a good day everyone!!

slo, that stinks about kevin's windshield.
good luck in getting it taken care of.

mr mac booked a hotel room last night.
i haven't checked the airlines yet to see if he is still a go.
i would think so since he hasn't called yet

skool is open today...........

all have a great day~

and yes, i won the battle.

told him NO NO NO and he finally understood.

he stayed home last night.

Good Morning! :wave2:

Laundry/ cleaning day here! WOOOHOOOO!! :dance3: NOT!! ;)

slo Not much snow here either. Maybe 2 inches, mostly slush because of all the rain.

mac Hope the roads have cleared by you.

Hersey Alex is a good kid.....don't sell him YET!! ;)
Did your neighbor make/suggest to him to shovel or did he take it upon himself to do it?

Debbie Hope everyone in your house feels better soon!

Tiggerrn Chili!!! YUM!! :goodvibes

mac ~ hope your hubby gets home soon

Slo ~ That is a shame about his truck, I hope that the Tollway people will cover it.

Tonight we have Kevin's "open house" at the high school. It is a night to meet teachers, administrators, coaches, and people like that, as well as learn more about the elective classes to take. Kevin was placed in Honors English, History and Biology. He made Geometry (which is a sophomore level class, he is in Algebra right now) just not at the honors level.

slo: Sorry about Kevin's windshield! D'Oh!! You're right, it is always something.

Yes, ROL Rec Center has a sign in sheet and a sign out sheet, signature and time. I had just signed her out myself and then began to look around. That's why I started to panic because I knew I had signed her out, no one else and didn't see her anywhere. My first thought is did she somehow leave with someone else and no one said anything? But then again, Megan knows better than to leave with someone else. I always tell her, if DH or myself doesn't pick her up, we would send only a family member to pick her up. No one else. My next rapid thought was did she somehow go out a door, goofing around and then couldn't get back in?

My one peeve with that situation was that when I said Megan D, the counselors were like ??? You would think after spending a day with the kids, they'd at least have a handle on first names and a handle on who was still there. Apparently not? Before attending ROL again, Megan will be given very specific directions and instructions. You are not to leave with anyone but me or Daddy, you are to be front and center when we arrive, etc. I will also introduce myself and talk with the counselors a little more in depth before leaving. I don't care if they think I'm a freak-mom, because I AM A FREAK MOM.

For all of you up north battling the snow! Just keep reminding yourself, spring is coming, spring is coming and if it helps, I did see a robin the other day up in a tree near Megan's school. He looked rather fat too, like he just flew in from Florida!

Have fun Piglet_too -- We had that last Thursday, in the snow, uphills both ways. :rotfl: Actually -- that's true. I DID have to go up a hill both ways (of course, I got to go down them both ways too).

We still have snow in our driveway but I shoveled twice yesterday and just didn't have the energy to do it a 3rd time. I heard at noon today we are supposed to get MORE snow. Only an inch or two so I keep thinking I should go shovel out the driveway rather than just driving over the stuff. Then I sit here until the thought passes.

My 5th grader is at some special event about making good choices. I'm not 100% sure what it is about really -- it's a High School program basically to give kids positive things to do rather than drugs, etc... One of our teacher's runs the program. She's been doing this for years, so I've heard about it in bits & pieces since my DD started school. It's a LONG time though, it starts at 3:30 and doesn't end until 7:45 with parents coming at 7:15. At least they do get a t-shirt & pizza.

That kinda sounds like Operation Snowflake, but I thought that was only for 7-8th graders. Operation Snowball is the HS version and lasts a whole weekend.

Hi gang! DS did not have baseball practice last night, thankfully! I did not want him and dh driving in that mess. Snow would not have stopped them though.

So...another fundraiser came home today. This is for the PTO to help offset the cost of the 6th grade trip to Medieval Times. Candy sales for band start next week. I just cannot let me kid go out again hitting up the neighbors and relatives. Since the first of the year, he did candles for baseball and Carsons Community Days for Scouts. I'll do the buy-out on the candy. Got to look at the PTO one closer.

I went to a conference in Lisle today. It was so nice not to be at work at getting recharged. My employees don't like it though since I always come back with more ideas that are more work for them! I will go 1/2 day tomorrow and head home early. Let's see...where to shop along the way home? Maybe Trader Joe's.

Whose ready for the weekend? I know I am!
Lori

Hello there everyone,
I've finally found you. Thanks Sandy.
How's everyone doing?

Hey stranger! How have you and the family been? Anything new on the "Fat March" front?

Yea, it's finally Friday!!!!

Mac - I"m glad that Mr. Mac got a hotel room and didn't have to sleep on a dreadful cot in the airport :scared:

Bunchkin - Did you get all your cleaning and laundry done yesterday?:laundy:

piglet - How was the open house last night?
**Kevin is definitly going to pursue having them pay for the new windshield. Thank goodness our insurance agent is one of my best friends to help us out with this:)

Sam - I think all of us on here are Freak Moms, so you're not alone :grouphug: I'm am glad that the center makes people check the kids in and out - that's a good thing!!!! :thumbsup2

Becky - HOw was your son's event last night?

bigben - Yea, you found us!!!! :yay: :yay: Fill us in on how've you been. How's the new baby?

Well, the shower is calling, and I guess I should respond ;)
