Morning, off to parent/teacher conference for Nathan.

SLO ~ Last night was good, Kevin finally choose to take German, after much deliberation between it and Latin.

Happy Friday!

Today is the 100th day of school and I am going to go help with all the fun and activities at the school. They have so many stations set up for the kids to participate in that I don't know how they expect them to get through even a hand full. But it'll be fun anyway!

Need to go buy some storage containers today. Cleaning out the kid's bedrooms resulted in lots of stuffed toys needing to be stored away...as they couldn't bare to get rid of them permanently.

slo Still working on the laundry and cleaning. :laundy:
I'm really sorry about Kevin's windshield, and I don't want to be a party pooper but.....no insurance company can get a city to reimburse someone for that. It's just part and parcel with driving on the road. They can't control what might get pushed up by the snow plow. If they pay one claim they would have to pay them all....and that would be a LOT!!
In all my years in insurance I never saw a claim paid in that circumstance.

momto1 Lots of fundraising stuff coming home here too.

Sam I'm making you up a "Hello! My name is Freak Mom!" label right now for when I see you next. ;) Just kidding!
We are all the same way!! ::yes:: You can't afford not to be.

bigben Glad you found us! How is the baby doing?

Have a great day all!!! :hippie:

It is time again! Snowvisions is sponsoring the snow carving contest at randhurst mall in mount prospect this weekend.

http://www.snowvisions.com/

last year they had about 10 or 15 ten foot tall structures! Realy amazing work. If it is not too cold stop on out.

Mapquest link

Here is a gallery of last years sculptings.

Maybe I will see you there, but I don't have any green winter jackets...Hmmmm.

Mikeeee

You can call me FREAK MOM! I get called Freak all the time anyway by my non-Disney friends. I got another round of that this week when I showed them my new Disney housekeys made especially at Lowes! They are sooo cute. And now I know, Mickey is the back door and Minnie is the front door. I don't have to try all the keys on my key ring anymore trying to find the right one since all the door keys looked alike!!

Well, it's going to be another fast weekend, but fun! Hope everyone else has a nice weekend too. Next weekend will be even better, 3 days! Wahoo!

I saw the Ranhurst Snow contest on WGN this morning.. looks like fun! We might go, if my GS cookie pick up goes smootly this week.

DH and I just celebrated our 8th wedding Anniversary and we went to Parkers Seafood Grill near Yorktown. WOW! Great food. Best Scallops I have had in decades. So I thought I would let you all know about this little gem. It's right where 31st ends into Kingsomething street, just south of Yorktown. VERY VERY YUMMY.. Total bill for the two of us was about 150 with tip. (3 appitizers and a few cocktails too)

Hope this next round of snow is short and sweet... we have ice on our driveway we can't hack through. lol

Sam I didn't know Lowes had Disney keys! They sound cool!!

Laurabearz Glad you had a good anniversary dinner! Happy 8th!!
Wowzers on that bill for just the 2 of you though!!

DD should be home soon and they we are off to IKEA for some under the bed storage containers. They should have never extended 355 this far south , so that now IKEA is only a 15 minute drive away!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend ahead of them! :goodvibes

Happy weekend to all! I hope everyone was safe this past week with the horrible snowstorms...it got nasty out there!

For American Idol fans, I just saw something on the aol home page that Disney is planning to open an Idol-themed attraction at the studios!

Besides the snow sculpting thing, anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? I just want to be warm!!!:)

Afternoon all. Spent the morning at kids school baking cookies for the Cookie Day sale. I smell like a chocolate chip.:rotfl2: Then worked out at the health club for an hour, did 2 loads of :laundy: , picked up the kids and now putting away the :laundy: Kids have a skating party with the school tonight, so I will be going along for that. Exercise twice in one day?:faint: What am I thinking?:confused3 :lmao:
bigben, nice to hear from you again. How was your Christmas trip to the World? And how is the family doing?
Bunchkin, enjoy IKEA. ( I have a few of those stuffed creatures you can add to your pile!:goodvibes )
It was a beautiful afternoon. So great to see the sun!!! My driveway has all melted off (ready for the next round, I suppose:sad2: ) Keep telling ourselves, just a few more weeks.
Have a great weekend everyone. I will be working mine away.:sad1:

Hi all! I am so happy to see this week come to an end. It will be a busy weekend, but at least it is not filled with work and school. DD is having a friend sleepover tonight, though. They stay up way too late but are usually really good.
Tiggerrn- Did you smell like choc chip at the health club? That is not very nice...I am going to a 90 minute spin class. Keep me in your thoughts!:rotfl:
Slo- Xh had his headlight broken by the spray from an oncoming plow. Insurance told us the city would never pay for it. Good luck!
sam- Some people just don't get it, do they?
laura- Happy Anniversary! Never heard of that place. Sounds good and so nice to splurge once in awhile!
momto- Never ending fundraisers here, too. Theyare trying to raise money to buy a new playground. they need it, but there is only so much junk one can buy!
becky- The antidrugs thing reminded me of something dd (6) said recently. I was trying to explain how people abuse things that are good for them in small doses, like prescription drugs or alcohol. She said, "Oh. Liek you abuse Diet Coke?". Great. Wait until she tells the teacher I'm addicted to Coke or something.
Okay. Off to exercise! Having a Lia Sophia party Sunday if anyone feels like driving to Central, IL. Haha!
TGIF!

Slo...I just re-read your post about Kevin's windshield. I really, really hope you get somewhere with not having to pay for that. I'm glad you have an insurance agent on your side!

Tigger...choc chip cookies...yum! Have fun at the skating party! I love roller-skating!

Laurabearz...happy anniversary!! Sounds like you had a wonderful celebration.

Mac...I keep having a taste for something from your fav "blue" restaurant!!! I LOVE the chicken they have there!!!

Hersey...congrats on raising Alex right! He is a great kid!

Do any of you know anything about a special thing going on at the Disney vacation club store at Woodfield this weekend? I thought I saw something about it, but didn't get any real details??

Hello, again, to ALL and especially to lurkers! Enjoy your Friday night!:)

Oh, I forgot...

paint..what is LaSophia? :confused3

The DVC thing at Woodfield is for adding on to DVC or buying into. Mickey N friends will be there tomorrow.

Donna Are you thinking of joining?

How is Mark's sister?

Donna Hope you're doing well. I was wondering how Mark's sister was doing too.
The invite I got from the DVC was for a presentation over at the comedy club. And like Hersey said, the meet Mickey and Friends. And then I got a flyer with a free vacation offer when buying into DVC. 100 extra points, towards a WDW vacay, for buying the base 160. Or a 7 day vacay anywhere for buying the next level up in points.
Offer's good till 2-18 if anyone is interested.

paint Hope the sleepover doesn't keep you up too late!
Just got an invite today from a neighbor for a Lia Sophia party. I haven't been to one in years.

Tiggerrn Hope the skating party was fun!!
No thanks to the stuffed stuff!! Our play room looks like a Disney toy factory with everything just lying on the floor waiting to be shoved into containers and put in the basement.

Hi everybody! Yep...it is raining in my neck of the woods. Want to bet on how long it takes to trun to snow?

Sam - Mickey and Minnie keys?! I see a Lowe's trip in my future. DS was just telling me the other day that I needed those colored cap things for my keys. Mickey is way better!

Laura - Happy Anniversary!

Paint - If you are in Central IL in Hudson, I might stop by. I will be there on Sunday for my nephews birthday party. I am taking my mom and cookies to the party.

After the conference today, I stopped by Target. DS saw some inline skates last weekend for 75% off. I couldn't get them while he was with me so I went back today hoping they had some left and there were even cheaper. I got a men's pair of inline skates for $4.98. They were originally $62.00. This is his first pair so they should be fine. Now I should take an extra insurance policy for his broken neck. Then I went to the Disney store and got 2 rolls of Christmas ribbon for $1.81 for both rolls! I know I didn't see this ribbon at Christmas. But, it will work perfect for next Christmas!

I think I only have ds basketball game tomorrow and cookie making for the party. Should be a somewhat relaxing weeknd. Off to do some more laundry.

Stay warm this weekend!
Lori

momto- In Blm/Normal! Btw, I got $5 rollerblades at The Targ last week. I love 75%!!!
Donna- It is a jewelry party. they have really nice stuff and a great guarrantee. As long as you have your receipt, they will take it back at any time- even if you just decide you don't like it! Right now they are having by two, get two half off, and so on. They even let you take the half off the more expensive items!
Bunchkin- I haven't ever hosted anything but Tastefully Simple (my fave!), but I booked through a friend who always buys stuff at my parties.

Do any of you check out the look a like thread? It is pretty neat! They compared me to someone very pretty, so they are okay in my book.
Oh, and I survived the spin class. Whew. It was tiring!

With the length of the spin class and the length of your legs you could have made it here and back. 90 minutes is a long spin class!

That kinda sounds like Operation Snowflake, but I thought that was only for 7-8th graders. Operation Snowball is the HS version and lasts a whole weekend.

Becky - HOw was your son's event last night?

It went well. He said he had a good time. It was sponsered by SADD (which is actually "Students Against Destructive Decisions" -- which I always thought it was "Students Against Drunk Driving" -- apparently it changed? Or I just have no clue. :confused3 ) and also Operation Snowball. It was both groups. They basically answered any questions the 5th graders had about middle school and then just basically giving them positive role models.

becky- The antidrugs thing reminded me of something dd (6) said recently. I was trying to explain how people abuse things that are good for them in small doses, like prescription drugs or alcohol. She said, "Oh. Like you abuse Diet Coke?". Great. Wait until she tells the teacher I'm addicted to Coke or something!

:rotfl: :lmao: That's funny. I was scared last night when they said the kids were in small groups writing things about us in regards to the Pillars of Character and then IF they wanted they could share them outloud. I was :scared1: , who knows what my kid would come up with. Luckily, my DS didn't want to share outloud. Worked for me. I would rather read it in private anyway.

Good news for my DD though -- I'm excited, she was recommended to take French II, so woo hoo we can finally fill in the paperwork for next year. Now hopefully the teacher knows what she is talking about with recommending it for her and she isn't over her head.

good friday evening chicagoland homies.

it has been a long day for me.

worked and then after i got home, took son shopping.

i'll come back to tuck you all into bed tonight unless i get side tracked by Tru TV tonight.........

Becky- You never know what they'll say. I used to cringe when people would assume dfiance was the kids' dad. This was back when we hadn't been dating that long, too. Ds would launch into a mile a miute story like "Thatsnotmydadthats my momsboyfriendmymomanddadaredivorced'cuztheydon'tgetalong". I'd just smile and say, "Anything else you'd like to know?"
Bunckin- Nah. I "only" rode 31 miles;)

Only 31 miles what a slug!:rotfl2: I'm not sure I could do 1/4 mile:rolleyes1

Sam the ACE hardware by me has disney keys too I really thought about it I think the people at work would have to do an intervention for sure.

Has anyone heard the weather for tomorrow  a high of 5 degree. Where did I wake up? I don't remember signing up for this.
If anyone is going to be out and about make sure you have blankets, cellphone and charger and plenty of gas in your car you do not want to be stuck. Just my little public service anouncement.
