Leigh You never can tell what will set people off. I say if you like the checks get them. I don't many people look at the style of checks anyway. I only notice when a man hands me an obviously female design like teddy bears.

Hi, all! Almost time! I ended upcalling and changing WC to Raglan Rd. I figurewe'll do WC sometime with the kids. Raglan Rd will be more funwith just us!
My Dis time has been decreased lately...I spilled pink lemonade on my laptop! It seemed fine, but then...yeah, not working. I was so mad at myself! It is less than a year old and we can't find the receipt. So, it's fix will have to wait until after the trip. Then, Tuesday night we had horrible storms and our power was out for almost a day. So, needless to say, I've been grouchy!

Disneynut, we have Doorway ressies for Saturday as well for 1-2:30. I haven't driven to this mall on my own before, so I am hoping for good weather and little traffic. If you come early, look us up. I will be the short, crazy lady with 2 kids!!! So glad to hear no one was injured in the accident. I am sure you will feel the effects for days to come yet. Motrin will be your best friend.
Slo, I am glad to hear that your business is doing well. So many people are struggling now. It is fun to look back at old pictures. This software makes putting this together so easy!!! It's just deciding which pictures to use that is hard.
Well, I had better get off to bed. Work tomorrow and already know we will be working short once again. This saga is getting old.

A new Chicago DISsser checking in!

Just wanted to say I'll be at the Doorway to Dreams open house at 1:00 on Saturday as well!

I will be with my MIL and my SIL as well as my son. It's pretty hard to not notice us... my son is Korean and the rest of us are not!

I stayed up to late watching a movie - Backdraft!!!
It's been forever since I've watched this movie, and it really is a great movie!!

DG - That bridal place sounds like a nightmare I think it's good that you aren't going to use them. Have fun trying on that dress!!!!

Leigh - Gone With the Wind is my most favorite movie of all time!!!! I wouldn't worry about the checks, because if people recognize that Mammy was a slave, it's because they watch and understand the movie. For those that have never seen the movie before, they won't know what her role was. Plus, her role was a very positive role, she was never displayed negatively for people to be annoyed or offended. I would get them!!!

HERSEY - We had some storms yesterday afternoon too, with a ton of rain!!! I realized halfway into the monsoon that I left my car windows open, and I had to run out there and close them. My car was soaked, and so was I

Well, I'm off to get ready for work - it's an early day today. Katie has to be at daycare by 8:30am for a field trip. They are going to a local splash pad, which is a bunch of fun type sprinklers for the children to play it. It's going to be hot here, so they have a great day for it

Good Morning

Friday morning and I will be going back to work today. I am a bit concerned because I went out yesterday to Walmart and I my leg was killing me after a half an hour. I hope I can make it through the day.

I got a rental car. A little PT Cruiser. I have always wanted one but now have changed my mind. After driving my mini can the pt cruiser is just too small.

I have to work on Saturday until 1:30 then pick up kids. I will love to meet up but I'm sure you all will be gone by the time I get up there.

Kids are leaving Sunday for 2 weeks to their dads in Michigan. This will be the longest my DD has been away from me. I know it will be tough.

Happy almost weekend!

It was great to be able to see everyone at the meet. I didn't really care for the movie at all (Mark liked it a lot , so I know it appeals to some more than others). I enjoyed chatting with everyone...thank you again, Nicole, for planning this one!

Storms were wicked here yesterday afternoon. I was driving and had to pull over & just sit, I couldn't see at all on the road. Scary stuff!

Doorway to Dreams thing sounds good...hope you all win a trip!!!!

YAY for sweeping the BREWERS!! I'm excited!

I never heard back from the bridal shop to let me know if they have the dress. I might try again later this afternoon, we will see, otherwise maybe i'll just stop by there this weekend. tomorrow morning i might be going with my sister and nephews to the zoo! they have a membership and have a guest pass for me! well, i actually have some work today! so hope everyone has a nice day and stays cool this weekend!

Hi everyone!!


Did I ever mention that the other week, after being out of town for DS's b-day, our furnace motor died!!! And it was a hot day that day.
Luckily, DH is a super handy guy and changed it out with a new one. Now the air is so much colder than it ever was!!!??!! Makes you wonder since the furnace was only 3 years old to begin with??!! I like it cold, so the outcome is a good thing!!


Also, I have been looking into applying for a job since both kids will be in school full time now. 11 years as a stay-at-home mom. I applied for a job where they already now me and I'm really hoping to get it!! The schedule works out perfectly with the kids too!
So please keep your fingers, and toes, and eyes crossed for me!!


We'll be going to Doorway to Dreams on Sunday with the kids and DH. He's working overtime on Saturday so we can't go then. Which might be a good thing, because if a lot of you are going on Sat. and one of you wins the free trip I would be totally jealous!!!

We're probably going to Legoland Discovery Center since we'll be up there.


Tiggerrn That is great that you're going to be able to make it up to Doorway on Sat! Going to Legoland too?
The drive is really easy. I've done it myself so I'm sure you'll be fine!! Take 80 to 355 which turns into 290 and get off on Higgins.

Careful for all you going to Dreams don't buy more than you can afford. I'm not going this weekend since I am working tomorrow and Sunday we are going desk shopping for Alex and then back home to get his room set up for studying. I promised him I would get a desk for him so he can move out of the dining room.

Hi guys! Boy these weeks go by so fast, I can't believe it is Friday night already .

Got the tuition info for the girls' school this year. Gulp, tuition is going up almost 20% . I've applied for a part-time admin asst job for the public school district, now I REALLY hope I get it. Looks like a few of us are going for jobs, I hope we all get them (fingers crossed).

DD6 is going to Girl Scout camp Sun-Wed, have to get her packed up. Of course they are forecasting a heat wave for Mon/Tue . This will be her first time away without any family, should be interesting

paint - wow, it's getting close now 2 days!! I hope you have a great time and look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
*Sorry about the laptop accident, my kids knocked mine off the couch this morning - so far so good. This thing take a lot of abuse though .

I gotta work today - I'm not in the mood
I have so much to do around the house for this party, that working at the store today is really going to put me behind. I"m hoping I can cut out of work a little bit this afternoon, so I can come and do something.


Last night we had dinner at the Chamber of Commerce Corn Roast (I didn't work it) It was so hot and muggy, that it made it very unenjoyable. The gnats were also terrible too, and I hate eating with bugs around. I finally told my friend that it was time to go, because the gnats were crawling up my legs This is exactly why I don't camp and hike!!!! So we left and took the kids to Oberweis for ice cream (like I really needed that, but it's summer, so I'm allowing it ).

Good morning! I can't believe we leave the day after tomorrow! I work all day today, which kind of stinks, but it will be good money and help the day go by faster! I am pretty much packed, except for the few odds and ends I throw in at the last minute (cosmetics bag, etc.).
tig- The castle suite would be amazing! Someoneon the restaurant board told me to call back and have them note on my adrs that is is our hmoon. We'll be wearing our pins (and dh's first visit pin) and our bride and groom ears, so hopefully someone notices!
slo- I always get fro yo at Oberweiss...then I mix in pb cups! It's got to be better than it could be, right?!? We have been getting icecream much too often, too. When I get back from the ddp,I am not even stepping on a scale until two weeks of diet and exercise have passed. I don't even want to know!
ID-Our registration isn't too bad, but this year I have to pay for after school care for the kids! I have a class I have to take which overlaps their dismissal.

I stayed up way too late again last night. This time I was watching the movie 'The Good Shepard'. Has anyone else seen this movie? I thought it was very good.
Then I had to get up at a decent time this morning because DD had a hair cut appt. at 9:30am.
I can seem to make time for the kid's hair cuts but not for myself.




slo I hope you are able to get away at work for a little while this afternoon in order to get some preparations done for the party.
I don't know if I've ever seen all of 'Backdraft'. I can't even remember the last time I saw it.



Hersey Good luck desk buying. Are you going to IKEA too? They seem to have nice deals on desks that are perfect for kids. As in, they can take a beating!!


irish dancer I used to complain about our kid's school tuition, saying how high it was....until we moved to the new house and into a new school district and now it's even HIGHER!!!!

paint Does the school offer after school care? Or will you need to search for a daycare or some other option? Do you have a neighbor your close to that has kids in the same school that could watch yours.

Leigh I wouldn't worry about the checks. It is a character from a movie, and a mojor one at that. I like that movie too. And I wouldn't think any thing negative about seeing those checks. I say, get them!!

We wnt to the Doorway to Dreams event today and Carol's name was chosen as the winner of the free trip! So, five day trip for four people in a DVC 1 bedroom, complete with park passes, airfare, a check to cover the IRS taxes and gift cards for food and souvenirs. Carol was in such shock, that I finally thought she was telling me to go up alone (they simply called out "The Crissup Family", so we didn't know yet who's card it was). As I got up to the front, Carol came sprinting along behind me.

She's still on her high.

I was really in shock and could not believe I was hearing our name. It is a fantastic prize and I was so happy DD Kristen and my mom were there to see it all happen!
