DH John-Bob gave me a shot of adrenaline last night when he told me to plan an anniversary trip for the two of us, for this July, to Disney World!!

Terry:

I am glad to hear your Dad is out of the hospital and I hope you feel better soon.

We just made our airline reservations on Spirit for our June Cruise. Spirit has a sale on and it was only $68 each way. I can't beat that.

Lyn: Yes I did get your PM and I replied to it right away. Hmmm...I hope it went through OK. Let me know if you see it in your Private Messages list or not. I can always resend it I think these boards have been a bit flakey the last few days. I haven't been getting emails to let me know that there have been replies to this thread, and many times during the last couple of days the site has been down all together. A few times, it went down in the middle of me trying to reply on a thread and I ended up losing everything that I had typed out.

I have to laugh! They made it seems like we're miles and miles from civilization over here in Kitsap county. Yes, we really do have that many trees. It's like living in the middle of the woods. I love it! I'm glad that they showed a few good shots of the local scenery.

I AM somewhat perplexed why they felt the need to go "across the water" to do their shopping. They made it seem like we don't have a local Sears store (wrong! - it's at the Kitsap Mall about 4 miles from my house). I also don't understand why they couldn't bring their bus along. True, it wouldn't fit on that tiny ferry they showed at the beginning of the program. However, they could have either brought it over on the Washington State Ferry (like the big one they took to go shopping) or they could have driven it around to the penninsula.

I wasn't surprised to see that they dragged the Navy into help. I know that I've mentioned that there are three military bases in the county. What I didn't say is that all three are Navy bases. In fact, I drive by the submarine base on my way to work every day. (It's the only one of the three bases that I haven't worked at.)

Also to let you guys know... The rainstorm they showed on the fourth day, is the normal weather around here for that time of year (November). They REALLY lucked out the week that they were here, they only had to deal with a couple days of rain. If things had been more normal, they would only have had a day or two where it DIDN'T rain.

I haven't been by to see the house in person. As you guys could see from the show, the house was a quite a way off the road with a long driveway. So, there isn't really a way to do a 'driveby' to check it out.

Well, I better get myself off to bed. Tomorrow is another work-day (ick!).

Lyn: Great prices on airfare ! Wish I could find something like that for my trip to Las Vegas in April. I din't think we have Spirit here. I will have to check.

Terry: Hope your feeling better real soon. The cold I had is over now my DD has it. Nothing like keeping it in the family. How are you able to have such long posts without running out of room? lol

Dori:Thanks for clearing that up for me. lol I watched the show last night and was thinking that exact thing. Where the heck does Dori live.............How does this person get around. I will have to say it is a BEAUTIFUL area !! They did a great job as usual. I can never watch that show without crying.

Andy: I finally saw the pictures !!! Wow they are great. It warms my heart and Castaway will always be "extra special" to me. I got the chills seeing the Island again. I can't wait to see it again in person. You really captured the Magic. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Tina - The one thing that I was bummed out about was that they only showed a limited amount of the scenery in the area. If they had gotten to the top of one of the hills in the area you can see two different mountain ranges. Off to the west are the Olympic mountains (with the only temperate rain forests in the world) and off to the east beyond Seattle are the Cascades. And yes, on a clear day you can actually see the buildings of downtown Seattle with the mountains in the background.

But, you guys can see why I love this area. We ARE surrounded by water, trees and mountains. (Kitsap county is a penninsula and the point where we attach to the 'mainland' is only about 2 miles wide. But there is always the ferry or the Tacoma Narrows bridge if you don't want to drive ALL the way around.) We love boating and water sports around here. There are more boats per person in the Puget Sound area than in any other part of the United States. We also have 4 different ski areas within a couple of hours (One in the Olympics, two in the Cascades and one on Mt. Rainier.) Camping and hiking are quite popular too and as you guys saw, we don't have to go very far away for that either.

Don't forget! Tonight, they are going to air the 'how we did that' show for the episode they aired last night. Hopefully, they will show a bit more of the local scenery.

Dori...I can't remember exactly ( senior moments do set in now and then) but our local news had the best places ( I THINK the most stressfree) to live and Washington was 2nd. Of course, with ALL the people I know in Washington, you came immediately to mind. LOL

It's great if you can put up with the rain! Lots of nature close by. I have numerous pheasant and raccoon at my place. (The family homestead is 10 acres and I own about 1.5 acres of it.) My cats are even allowed to go outside without fear of them getting run over, since the house is quite a way off the road, kind of like the Dore's lot on the show last night.

We have very little air polution, the winds off the ocean blow it all away. Because of our proximity with nature in the northwest, we tend to be very environmentally conscience. It fact, as of Jan 1st this year is it illeagal to throw paper or cardboard in residental trash in Seattle; it MUST be recycled. The waste management companies around here provide recycling bins along with the garbage can. (At least we can do it curbside and don't have to pack all of it off to a transfer station somewhere.)

The only really bad thing about the area is the traffic. Rushhour traffic in Puget Sound is running a close second behind the nightmare in the Los Angeles area. However, there is a construction plan in the works to build a monorail system that would stretch from Sea-Tac Airport (south of Seattle) clear up to Everett (north of Seattle). As I recall, they are looking at completion by 2010. I am SOOOO glad that I don't have to commute in that mess anymore (I did it for about 4 years.)

Doreen: I am going to send you a PM with our reservations numbers. We have 2 cabins, so I'll send you both #s. We are linked with Lyn and Bob, and their friends. The CM at DCL told me that we can all be "linked", meaning they will make sure we are all on the same dining rotation and our tables will all be next to each others. One thing I have to do tomorrow though; I forgot that All Seasons had us put down as early seating, so DCL needs THEM to call to make the change, so I will call All Seasons tomorrow morning and have them change us to the late seating! So, if you happen to call and they tell you that we're on the early seating, don't worry, because we are changing to the late seating! This is going to be so much fun, so many of us together in the dining room!

Is there a list of who's linked for the early seating, and who's linked for the late seating? We should start a list!

The cheapest ticket I could find for my Mom from Tampa to Rochester was 164.79. So I grabbed it. She is watching the kids while I am in Las Vegas. I am still looking for me. Even Jetblue and Independance was more then 164. I ended up getting her on Delta.

Terry: I agree .........I think we should start a list on who is on first and who is on second and oh doesn't it also go who is on third? Just kidding. How about different brunch times? Just a thought. Tina

No we didn't sign up for the bridge tour, this was a special invitation by Captain Thord himself, that's what made this tour of the bridge such a high honor for both of us!!! And, to blow the Magic's horn as we left Castaway Cay, that was PRICELESS!!!

Tina - I'm glad that you got to see the second show. They did show a lot more of the area in all it's scenic glory. I had to laugh about the tea-hunt too. I truly sympathize with him. He's right, the northwest is know for it's famous coffee (Seattle is the home of Starbucks). However, like Ed, I don't like coffee. Give me a cup of tea any day.

I hadn't realized on the first show that the chandelier in the entryway was made of blown glass. I'm not surprised to find out that the Dore family is into blown glass artwork, many of us in the northwest are. Seattle boasts one of the finest international artists in that medium (and it isn't the guy that made their chandelier). It's the artist that created the gorgeous chandelier that hangs in the lobby of the Magic! I recognized his work the minute I set foot on the ship. I went to the service desk the first day and asked if they could tell me who had created that fabulous piece. Sure enough, it is Dale Chihuly (pronounced Chi-hoo-lee). There are pieces of his artwork all over the Puget Sound area. (No big surprise since his studio is in Seattle. He even has a museum at his studio. I haven't been to see it yet, but it's on my list.)

Now that you guys have had a glimpse of the area, come visit me. I'm more than willing to be a tour-guide to anyone that makes is up here.

Dori: I'm sorry I missed that show, I hope they play in reruns again. It sounds like your area up there is really very beautiful!

Bobby & Cindy: Congrats on booking WDW! I booked us for this July a couple of days ago. It's nice to have some kind of Disney trip to look forward to, to hold us over until the Disney cruise I think early December is a great time to head down there.

Tina: I know that Mary Rose has which seating we're on, on the first page, but I'm assuming that not everyone is necessarily going to link their reservations together. And if someone is on third seating, then they've got problems A list for Brunch is a great idea! We LOVED brunch on our last cruise, even a bit more so than dinner at Palo. I bet we could fit that restaurant with just our group, alone.

Doreen: I actually remembered to call All Seasons yesterday to have them change us to late dining. So if you call to link all of us, we should be all set Thanks!

Dori: Since this is the first time on the magice for me I haven't seen the chandelier yet. Is it the same as the Wonder? I remember seeing that one. It was sooooo beautiful. I "wonder" if the same person designed for both ships ?

Bobby&Cindy: Congrats again on your house ! WDW is going to be so nice in December. Wish we could go. We are taking the kids to Gaitlinburg this summer.

Terry: On our cruise this past November we did a brunch with people on the Dis board. We had the private room and it was alot of fun. We have alot more people in this group........So that's why I thought get a list going now maybe even different time slots ? Again I am just offering a suggestion.
