Yea, just sitting here freezing this morning. I just got back from taking DD to school, and boy is it cold out this morning. Well, at least we made it to February, Spring can't be too far behind!!!

We're Back!

A great big THANK YOU to all who have kept my Marine son in your thoughts and prayers. HE IS HOME!!!!!! He looks good, sounds good and feels good (believe me, I checked fingers and toes!). This has been one of the most emotional weekends of MY LIFE. His HOMECOMING was wonderful and now we have left him in the capable hands of his lovely wife.

I'm home sick today. Everything just caught up with me, I think. Driving to NC and back and all the late nights, early mornings, middle of the nights, excitement and anxiety took their toll.

LYN - Steven is still active duty Marines but his enlistment should be up in July. If they retain him (Heaven forbid!) he is scheduled to return to Iraq in Sept. He has 20-some days off for now and he and his wife are on a second-honeymoon.

GINNY - Stan is doing really well. He made the trip to NC without a problem and was very handy while we were there. It was nice to have my "strong" hubby back to help hang all the Welcome Home signs we painted! He isn't released for work or chemo yet, but should be soon.

ANDY - LOL I couldn't keep my hands off of my son! We are huggy anyway, and I just couldn't get enough. I just kept thanking God over and over.

SUE - I LOVE your photo! Can't wait to meet you in person.

Darlene - I'm so happy for you and your family that your DS made it home safely. It must be such a relief for you to finally be able to be with him and know he's okay. How long was he in Iraq? Please tell him "Thank You" for helping to keep us all safe.

I got some good news today from my boss' secretary (Kelley). The past two weeks I have been on an emotional roller coaster, hopefully, I'm now in for a much smoother ride.

Kelley called me and told me that she had spoken with our township treasurer and he confirmed to her that I indeed CAN apply for early retirement NOW, and that the township WILL pay for my health benefits for the rest of my life. I thought I had to have 25 years service in AND be 55 year old to qualify to have the benefits package paid for. Come to find out, as long as I had the service time in, it didn't matter how old I was. Guess what, I will be applying for early retirement with an expected date to retire as of January 1, 2006. By then I will have 26 years and 7 months service in.

Oh Andy that is fantastic news! But please don't tell me you are beating us to Florida??? Mike (bob) can't retire till 2007!!! We will be moving to Sarasota in July/2007 & I am counting the days!
