Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 3

BTW, the pic in my siggie was taken during our cruise last week. This was the first "real" family portrait that we have had taken in a few years.

Comcast channel 401

Rats, I don't have those music channels. I've got a great CD called "croon and swoon - Christmas classics". No one sings them better than Crosby, Torme, Nat King Cole, etc.

And I'm printing out my turkey stuffing recipe so I can make up my shopping list.

And I LOVE the family photo!!!!

Thanks.......:goodvibes

We were waiting in line for dinner last Wednesday evening and the Lifestyle photographer only had one family in line, so after they were finished we jumped in and had a few shots taken, this was the best pose, so we bought the 8x10. I am using this pic for our Christmas cards this year.

Good Evening Sir

Home here tonight, just sitting here listening to Christmas music on the TV.

The cruise was nice and we had a good time, we just really missed the Disney touches. I wouldn't mind doing a RCI cruise again, but it would have to be on a newer and larger ship. The same time that we were on the Sovereign, I had a friend that was on the Freedom of the Seas, he said it was really nice, this was also his first non-Disney cruise.

Glad you had a good time. I was worried you'd be constantly comparing the two cruise lines and not enjoying the moment.

The photos are great.

I wonder when the larger DCL ships come out that people will start saying the same thing about preferring the larger and newer DCL ships versus the Magic/Wonder?

Funny you should mention that Kay, Hazel and I were both comparing the Magic against the Sovereign and DCL vs. RCI the whole 4 days of our cruise...

Hi everyone!

I just finally had a chance to take a few minutes and throw some pictures from our recent Royal Caribbean cruise up on my web site. Here's a link to the page, if anyone is interested! Also, when I got back I had written up a review/comparison between this cruise and our DCL cruises. Here's a link to that as well.

My review here on the DIS boards:

Andy: Welcome back! You were getting on your ship as we were getting off our ship. lol

P.S. We saw the Magic in port on 2 different days. I got some great shots of her, and I'll add them to my Explorer of the Seas web page probably later on this weekend. I have to admit that I was having such an awesome time on the Explorer that I really didn't miss the Magic at all, however that ship will *always* have special memories for me, and I hope to cruise on her and/or the Wonder again :)

Terry

Thanks for the report and pictures.
We thought about a cruise out of liberty and may do it some day.

Being about an hour from home is very tempting.

Thanks Ed! John and I drove down to NJ the night before and stayed at a hotel near that port that offered a deal similar to what the Radisson at the Port offers; you get to leave your vehicle parked on their lot while you're on your cruise, you get a free shuttle over to the port in the morning, and it also included a hot buffet breakfast in the morning.

My family members who cruised with us live in NJ and they only had to travel an hour to get to the port. My DNiece and her family were thrilled to not have to fly to go on a cruise like they usually do, AND this cruise allowed my DSister and her DH to cruise because they didn't have to fly. My DSister has multiple severe health issues which cause her to not to be able to fly, so it was wonderful to be able to see her go on a "real" vacation for the first time in decades. (Before she got so sick they used to travel all over the world).

Anyway, I was quite surprised at how much I really enjoyed the ship itself as well as the level of service we received in all of the venues on the ship. I'll absolutely cruise DCL again, but it was nice to experience something a little different too. :)

Terry- First of all, you look Mahvalus!!!!! WOW. The pix are beautiful and I truly enjoyed them. We are looking forward to a week in DisneyWorld to celebrate Karen's 50th in January. We are taking our Dad and the three sisters plus Jaclyn, because she thinks she is the fourth sister. Take care

Terry,

Great photos...what a beautiful ship!!!! I know people who have sailed out of NJ and loved it.

Hopefully the new DCL ships will incorporate the best of other cruise ships (like having a better family pool area).

For the summer of 2009 we were all set to try a different cruise line but now we're hearing "rumors" that DCL might do longer sailings in the Caribbean so we're just waiting to hear what happens.

But its good to hear there are alternatives to DCL and you can have a good time.

And Terry, you do look great!!

To all our Cruising Castaways....have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We host and we're having more people over so I ordered a bigger turkey. I picked up the turkey yesterday and decided to check and make sure that the bigger turkey fits in my roasting pan.

It doesn't. So I was out today frantically searching for a bigger roasting pan. Thank goodness I found one. Otherwise that would have been a rude shock on Thursday.

Terry great report! And you do look fantastic! :thumbsup2 Missed you at the Duck Tour Dis Meet, but hopefully we can do another one soon!

How cool to see the parade in person!

Glad the Broadway strike isn't affecting the bands being able to perform. I know someone whose relatives came up from Florida to see a Broadway show and its canceled because of the strike.

Hey, did you get a lot of snow on Monday?

we got snow, I wouldn't say a whole lot like a blizzard but enough to cover the ground till yesterday morning. No more snow on the ground now though

Now that the dates and rates have been released for 2009, is anyone considering cruising DCL then?? I don't know what our plans are, but I'd love to do another August cruise! :sunny:

Yes, we are so excited to have the Magic back in the Caribbean.

It was down to the 8/15 cruise to Tortola or the 8/22 regular western.

Due to our schedule, we went with the 8/22 western. So we are booked.

Yes, it would have been nice to go to Tortola but its been three years since we've been to Cozumel and we really want to book the snorkeling excursion with Eagle Ray Divers.

We just seem to be stuck on doing westerns.

Anyone else booking for 2009?
