Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 2

Ed: First cruise Chuck & Jonathan were suppose to going on the fishing trip at Castaway Cay. Last cruise we were busy getting married. I promised Chuck with there being 2 stops to Castaway, 1st stop I would go fishing with him. Anyone else interested? Fill the boat with the Dis.

Doreen: I think that's called Murphy's Law. The weather man keeps changing the forcast.

Does anyone have an idea when the Magic is going to start going back to Cozumel? Forgot to mention that when I paid off the cruise the goverment taxes went up slighty. DCL isn't saying anything about Cozumel. Have you heard anything Bev? Tina

ok I just called DISNEY>.. Its on a month to month basis. Nothing is said about AUGUST as of yet.. It may be all set for that MONTH.. SO fat no decesions has been made.. They said it could be Costa MAYA,, I told her we are already going there.. She said it could be Grand Caymen.. She told me dont get upset or worry yet.. Wait until it gets closer.. Disney wants us to go there as well .. Many people want COZAMEL .. I wouldnt mind JAMAICA>> I loved it there.. but I am sure its too far out of the way.. with going to COSTA MAYA and all..
JAMMAICA has JIMMY BUFFET'S MARGAURITAVILLE(sp) . with a water slide indoors.. well ok outdoors and we did the KONGO line to the ship..

I realize our cruise is still 6 months away. When your trying to plan things it's a little hard when DCL is doing things on a month to month basis. On another board it was mentioned that the pier that Disney uses won't be up and running until Oct. 06 They have there reasons why they are not going back as of yet. I just wish I knew why. Either way a day at sea or Grand Cayman is a better day then at work right? Tina

I wouldn't mind a day at sea, as we already have 3 other stops (2 CC, 1 Costa Maya). But I agree, it is hard to plan. It would be nice to have some assurances when it comes time to book our excursions.

Ed, DH and DS (12 at the time) did parasailing on Castaway Cay and really enjoyed it. I've parasailed before; loved it, but didn't need to spend the $$ to do it again. Definitely worth doing at least once though! DS will be 13 on this cruise and wants to do the teen thing (can't recall the name right now) on CC..."Wild Side"? Anybody have any experience with this?

A balmy 70 degrees here in VA today...will be 30 on Sat.

OK Doreen, tell me about Jamaica, that is a stop on our cruise next week, and we want to do the Margaritaville thing. How is the beach at Margaritaville? IS it nice? I am talking about Ocho Rios, by the way.

Oh Joanna, I loved it.. But than again I am bold... I took MARTY to the market place where I swear they tried to sell us vodoo dolls..lol He got so scared.. No seriously, Jimmy Buffets place was great.. I dont know how it is with young kids.. we were on our HONEYMOON.. The food was good and the drinks were flowing.. You go to the top floor and slide down to the lower pool.. it was a riot.. We had great people to share the time with.. so it made it that much better.. The cruise director met us there and made it another party..

There is a common SHOPPING mall there too with little shops. Kind of like GRAND CAYMAN if I recall.. we did the DUNNS RIVER FALLS excursion.. NOT TO BE MISSED. we did the catameran... with flowing rum and coke and punch after the falls.. We danced and drank some more..Me and MARTY were the lead poeple.. If you do that try to be in the far left of the line so you are first.. that way you are next to the leader ( who goes up the falls barefooted) and you know exactly where to step.. It was great.. We bought the video!!!
HAVE A GREAT TIME>> and tell me about it when you get back.. what cruise line are you doing? we did CARNIVAL....

Joanna: Enjoy your cruise ! I can't wait to hear about it when you get back. Also let me know about shorty. I am worried about Dante doing the "puppy prison" thing also. He really needs to start seperating from me. Yeah like that will happen.

Jen: Enjoy that balmy weather while it lasts. There is now a high wind warning for us for tomorrow because of a cold front coming through. Might even get winds in excess of 60 miles

Doreen: o.k I have no control over the "Wind" just thought I would mention that now.

I didn't think there was much to do while at Costa Maya.........Guess I will start checking that out. I think Terry went there before. Any feedback on this Terry. What was good to see?

Tina, the cruise in AUG 04 went to Costa Maya... that was before it got all the hype that is has now.. The new PASSPORTERS GUIDE has the excursions all planned out in the new book.. to be out in MARCH..

We had 60mph winds today.. one of the office buildings downtown lost its windows this morning and many schools closed early due to no power... We were ok so far.. Thanks for the warning TINA<..lol A tree top fell off a tree behind me while I was on my deck however..lol that was a site and quite a sound too!!

JOANNA... enjoy the cruise.. To bad you didnt live closer to me since I do dog sitting as well.. I hate doggy prison You have to do DUNNS RIVER FALLS.....

Things here are a little .

Stan's mom is in the hospital and is being moved to a rehab center this afternoon. Hopefully she improves enough to be eligible for an assisted living situation...if not then we are talking nursing home. So sad. So much to do.

Stan had his last chemo treatment this week. He's not feeling great. But he is scheduled for a PETSCAN and I am happy about that. Hopefully there are no hot spots and we hear the word REMISSION.

So...who is doing what...what plans have you made for our CRUISE?

Hi everybody,

It appears I have quite a few pages to read. I have started to focus on this vacation again. I have been looking into flights - prices are not good. We had quite a day here with the wind. I watched a truck almost flip over about 6 times on my way to work. He got off the highway as soon as he could but I really thought he was going over. On the other side of the highway a truck did get blown over. I work about 11 floors up and our building was swaying and things were flying off from it. It was a scary day but at least we didn't lose power. Of course, they are saying we are going to get 8 -16 inches of snow tonight.

Doreen - Did you book your flights yet? I think we might fly out of Rochester because it is hundreds cheaper.

Tina - How are you? We got a new puppy too. We got him on Dec. 30th, he is about 4 months old now. Did you get bad wind there today?

Glad to be back. I will try to catch up on some pages.

Linda: Hello stranger to these boards. Congrats to your new puppy. What kind did you get? Name? WE got mine on Dec 1st. He is my baby. We lost power at 9:00 am and JUST got it back 1/2 hour ago. Our house is so cold. We are lucky because they said our power wasn't going to come back on till sometime till late tomorrow afternoon. They clocked winds at one point..........77 miles there was roof shingles flying off all over the place, thought they were mine but turned out they were next door neighbors and landing in my yard. branches everywhere, lost one of my bird feeders. Maybe we will get on the same flight out of Rochester?

Tina - The puppy's name is Ariel (can you guess which one of my children named her). She is a Shepard / Husky mix - she just kind of fell in our lap. The receptionist at my BIL's dentist office got her for her kids and one of them had a severe asthma attack within a few hours of her being in the house. Glad your power came back on - it would be getting pretty cold by now.

We had some siding in our back yard that they were supposed to take away after we added onto our garage last year. It is now all over our yard. We also lost the roof off the kids playhouse. We did have a small tree down first thing this morning which dented our new downspout but it could have been worse - it just missed the truck. Hope everything calms down now.

Linda...Good luck with your new dog. We sent Shorty this afternoon to the kennel, We all miss him terribly. It is sick at how much we are missing this dog and how he must be feeling. Can't wait until tomorrow and then maybe we will be too busy to dwell on it. Linda. I see you were on the Glory. How was it? Would you do it again? Compared to DCL was it good or bad?
