Called about room only codes anyone can use...

I'm beginning to wonder if they will be doing room only discounts for a decent rate at all this Summer.

Forbes just released a report regarding vacation travel that shows Disney bookings are up 20% from last year, and above what they were expecting.

If all these people are booking packages and paying the rack rate for their rooms, then Disney really doesn't have a reason to discount their rooms for the rest of us.

Oh well.:(

When I called yesterday to pay my deposit the CM told me that they aren't going to release anything until they see how well the 5 plus 2 package does. Meaning that he felt nothing would be released until this package expires for registration. :( boohooo

I called this morning to do a "one last time" check for our trip next week (does anyone else do that? Call to make sure nothing got messed up between getting your confirmation in the mail and leaving for your trip?!). Anyway, spoke with a nice CM who basically said the same as SRUAlmn: the 5 + 2 packages have been selling well so any new deals for the summer/fall would more than likely be released after 6/28 (altho she did give the obligatory "You never know, so just call back" line). She also said she had worked at CRO for 5+ years and typically she knows when something is being released as the CMs are given a heads up about manditory overtime.....and so far, no mention of any such overtime for May or June :( Guess we just keep waiting..........

I'm going to keep my eyes on this thread cuz I want to know too, it's such a good deal when you can have a room only. The AP rates are very good though. Wish I could afford to go back every couple months.:wave2:

I bit the bullet last night. We needed three nights extra two nights in the begining and one night on the end of of our 5 for 2 package deal. I called the CRO and asked them what what the AAA rate for August 6-8 and was quoted 278 including tax combined for the two nights. I went ahead and booked. We start our dream maker silver package on the 8th and did not want to tax on another $500 for the three of us to the begining of our package.

I got tired of waiting and booked. If something comes out I will just have them switch the room only reservation over.

Sorry I had to give up.

I hope we hear the final yes or no to the coedes soon. I'm going in the beginning of July and I need to know if I'll be buying an AP or not. If the public room code comes out, I won't have to buy the AP.

I hope they come out for use in September/October... ::sitting and waiting for the end of June::

Unfortunately it looks that way:( At least in the forseeable future:mad:

I got a postcard in the mail for $99 value resorts yesturday
valid 4/18 - 8/28
Unfortunately DH won't do a value (no waterslide  )

****but there is not a code on it ;)

Ah Yes! the infamous post card:p that continues to rub it in on those who have not gotten one and who are feverishly looking and hoping for room-only codes::yes::

why couldn't anyone call in for the 'deal' as there is no 'special' code on the card...

No, most postcards do not have a code on them....they have a pin# and they are only good for the one who receives it.

That said, just because it says it is only good for a value resort, does not mean that it cannot be used for moderates or deluxes. Others on this board are reporting that they are doing it. They cannot share the deal with anyone else, but they are able to help themselves. Others have received these postcards that say they are for value resorts, but when they call and give the pin#, they have found that the same discount can be applied to other resorts. It doesn't hurt to try.

There is a thread on this board somewhere where others are reporting these very same "value resort" postcards, and they are using them for discounts at other resorts. . . not just value resorts.

I'm still waiting also. I did get my $565/night rate down to $485 or some such ridiculous number because they had my elementary age child as an extra adult. There must be discounts, and soon!!!! Even if they extended the 5/2 offer, it wouldn't help me. We can't spend that many days there.

Yes, this is what we did on our last trip. We received a post card and I was already booked at BC with a room-only public code. The post card was for Values, but I called anyway, and they applied it to my Deluxe room. I saved $150 more than with the code, making it a total of $700 saved for the week!

So if you get a post card, call and ask to have it applied!
