What do you do with your baby's food/milk when you go on the rides? I hate to worry about stuff like this but the possibility of tampering makes me think that I should bring it all with me. Anyone ever had a problem? If you do bring it with you, how practical is it to go on baby-friendly rides with a sippy cup in hand?? Just had a thought - I've read here somewhere about bottle holders that go around your neck - would this be something that would fit around a sippy cup - might look a little weird but I'd rather be weird-looking than childless.....

We use powdered formula and leave with our stroller inside a diaper bag. We've done this for 5 WDW trips with no problems.

Anything that can spoil we take with us on the rides. We also carry a collapsable cooler bag with a shoulder strap with us. We heat up bottles and baby food at the baby care center. If I leave a sippy cup at the stroller, I try to put in below where the direct sun won't hit it.

Thanks - I guess I'm the only one thinking along this lines but I'm not worried about the sun - rather about someone slipping something in her milk/food.

RobinB - I don't like to be paranoid but I'd also rather not be naive. Just because it's WDW doesn't mean there aren't weirdos there and although I realize that this is a very very remote possibility I'm just curious about what people do.

Yes, there is a very, very, very (I could go on and on), very remote possibility that some weirdo will want to kill your sweet baby by slipping something into his or her milk or food. That possibility is infitesimally small. We all worry about our children, but I think it's more productive to focus our protective parental energies on events that actually might happen.

Edited to add: What did I do? I breastfed, so her dinner was always with us . When she graduated to a sippy cup I just left it in the stroller. She usually drank water or juice. I never used formula, so I never worried about it going "bad", but you may want to consider a squishy thermal lunch box or small cooler.

Our diaper bag contains all our baby food and also has the side pockets for cups, etc. We take our diaper bag on the rides with us. That way, we have everything we need on the ride if a crisis arises. And, of course, we feel we're better safe than sorry.

My sister had this small and Louie diaper tote bag (too cute) that held several bottles, diapers and jar foods for her DD. She took that bag along with her camera bag on the rides with her.

Maybe you should look into getting a smaller bag. She carried such a small diaper bag because she did mid day rests where she was able to go back to her villa and restock.

My ds is still on formula and we premix it every day in the blender (he has eating issues and this seems to help). We have a small cooler back they sell at Target in the baby aisle (Munchkin brand). We put the days supply of premixed formula in a larger plastic bottle with a pour spout and one bottle in the bag along with some "blue ice" to keep it cold. This bag is the size of a small purse so we just take it with us on all the rides. His other "essentials" - diapers and such, along with some baby food (in sealed jars so I think I would be aware if it was tampered with) are kept in a seperate bag we just leave in the stroller. In the last two trips we had no problems. (And our last trip was 2 weeks long, so we spent a lot of time in the parks). I do agree with the pp about focusing on things that might actually happen and that someone actually tampering with items in your babies bag is an infinitesimal possiblity. Yes anything could happen, even at WDW, but with the amount of security they have there (in personnel and I'm sure that security survelience camera's abound as well) it's probably not an attractive place for someone to try something like that. (criminals in general tend to pick easier targets).

thanks for the ideas. I guess I'm in the minority here but being an ER doctor I've seen it all so maybe I have a tainted opinion on the safety of these things. I just figure - I would never leave my drink unattended somewhere so why leave baby's. Just my opinion

I thought I was the ultimate worrier but I am wrong! I usually bring the drink bag with us on rides because in case it gets stuck or is a long wait I like to have drinks on hand. I hope there wouldn't be anyone at WDW out to harm a child. If it makes you feel more secure take the bag with you.

We didn't have this problem, but we always take our "stuff" along with us on all the rides. I guess we did leave diapers in the stroller - but now that we have kids we always have a bag.

The bag moves easily from ride to ride. There are only a few rides where a bag is not convienient or needs to be stashed (Kali River Rapids, Roller Coasters) and I'm guessing if you ride those at all, a paranoid parent wouldn't be leaving the baby unattended, so you can just have the same person watch the bags as the baby

As a former prosecutor, (including 4 years exclusively handling sex crime cases) I have seen the depths of depravity of which people are capable. Because of my background, I am incredibly overcautious when it comes to my children's safety. That being said, in my opinion, the risk of baby formula being tampered with at WDW is pretty low. There are other things to worry about.

lmk, if the thought of deliberate tampering really bothers you, you might want to look into getting a case of pre-measured, bottled formula--like the ones that hospitals use. Since you work in a hospital, I guess you could ask the maternity ward. All the major brand sell them on their web-site as well for various sizes. I used to take them for outings since I didn't have to worry about spoiled milk, but the added bonus is that they are sealed so you would know if the bottle has been tampered.

When we went with our 1 yo and 3 yo, we had two bags with us at the parks...a large backpack that stayed in the stroller, and a small purse-sized diaper bag that I carried with me onto rides and in restaurants and shops. The large bag contained changes of clothes, extra diapers and wipes, snacks, etc. The small bag that I carried with me contained a couple of diapers (I replenished from the supply in the large bag when necessary), wipes, my wallet, our tickets, my camera, and anything else that I didn't want to leave in the stroller unattended. I think I kept my DD's sippy cup in the small bag, too, so that I would have it whenever she wanted it.

we used the premeasured sachets of powder and bottles of water - I suppose someone could mess with the water but the thought never crossed my mind. The sachets are sealed and you could use sealed bottled water to mix with it if it made you feel better.

Thanks everyone. I think I'd just like to put an end to this one. I was never implying that I was worried about someone rifling through our bags, opening a bottle of formula and tampering with it. My concern was a sippy cup left in the cup holder of a stroller while the stroller was unattended. That's all. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions.

I would never leave anything out like in the tray on top but I feel it's safe buried in the bottom of the basket.

We saw someone had left their drink with a straw in it on their stroller and a bird came and stood on the stroller handrail and it's 'booty' was touching the straw!!!! So that person just sipped on bird butt when they took their next sip!! Never leave food or drink out where something could intentionally or by accident touch it.
