I’ll be the second negative.....
We didn’t have a great server which I think really made us feel it wasn’t “worth” the cost. I also think I expected this “out of this world” experience because of all the great reviews I had read before hand.
Didn’t bother asking for a window table because the day we went was soooo foggy, it was just white looking out the windows. We ended up being seated in a open ended 2 person booth (best way to describe it haha) right by where the servers pick up the food. I have never been to the California grill so didn’t realize it at the time, otherwise I would have asked for a different table. It wasn’t really a “relaxing” atmosphere with every server in the place constantly walking back and forth on the one side of our booth.
The buffet part was awesome!! I felt it was better than the main meals. But as soon as we sat down with our first plate from the buffet, our waiter wanted to take our order. We did ask for more time to enjoy the buffet, which I don’t think he was happy about. My husband and I both had to ask for drink refills each time, which shouldn’t happen when paying that much money. Ironically, the ONLY time our waiter asked if I would like a refill (my 3rd empty glass) he never brought it....
As far as the food, it was average to us. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband had the eggs benedict with lobster. I liked mine more than he liked his. We also ordered the blueberry pancakes and they had a mint taste to them? Not a fan of mint.... Didn't really care for any of the desserts. My husband LOVED the coffee though!!
I think it was just a combination of everything....high expectations from reviews, a below average waiter, no amazing view (no ones fault, that can’t be controlled), just average food, and a less than ideal table that was anything but relaxing. The highlight for us was the buffet, but that was not “worth” the cost of this meal.
For us, it was a one and done. But I am a firm believer in trying it for yourself. The majority love it!
