California Grill question

I looove sushi, but DH can't stand it, in fact, he'd be happier most places ordering off the kid's menu.

I really don't want to make an ADR for California Grill, but some evening, if I just stop by by myself, what are the chances of sitting at the kitchen bar and having some sushi?

Would it be worth a try, or is it just all booked up all the time, now? Oh, and we're going when everyone is there on free dining!

Hmm, maybe this is a long shot...

Hi Amanda!! It's a been a while since I've seen you. Nice to see you here. :)

You can try to walk up way early, sometime around 5pm, and ask if they
might be able to fit you in as a solo at the open kitchen for sushi. If not,
you have other options.

I've been to the Wolfgang Puck Cafe (West Side) sushi bar on a few
occasions around lunchtime, and I have never had a problem getting a seat.
They had really good sushi, too. I don't know how busy the sushi bar is at
dinnertime. I would have suggested the Japan pavilion had the restaurants
not been in refurbishment during your trip.

The last option, Kimono's at the Swan, I haven't tried. I think they are open
at dinnertime hours.

Hi Lori!! Thanks for the info, I may just do the Puck's suggestion, probably a lot cheaper.

It's great to be here at the DIS! I've moved here now permanent-like. I couldn't take "that other" forum anymore, too many scary people being scary and too much spam :scared1: I don't even lurk there.

Now that I've figured out how to subscribe to threads, navigate here, etc., it's really awesome.

Who else from the old days is on here now?

Well, I couldn't send you a private message, but there are a couple of
people who lurk about here and there. I don't think I know more than a few,
and even then I would prefer to PM them to you. ;)

And yes, the sushi at Puck's on the West Side will be less expensive than
the California Grill sushi. :)

Let me add you to my PMs accepted list... first time doing this so give me a second...

I think that you would be fine going to the CG for sushi solo. You are allowed to go up there and have a drink if you want to so maybe you could go to the desk and ask if there are any seats available at the kitchen. If not you could try to eat at one of the cocktail tables or at the bar. They serve a full menu at both. Good luck and enjoy!! The sushi is awesome!!!

Ooo I'd really enjoy hanging out having some sushi and a drink at the cocktail tables! If that's possible, I want to be there the minute they open, have it to myself with that awesome view.

I think I'll do both there and Wolfgang's! Wolfgang's looked really cute.
