California Grill - ok for kids?

It is fine for well-behaved kids. You would get funny looks from me only if you had kids who screamed continuously, roamed around the restaurant, sat or lay down on the floor, or threw food.

CG is not a quiet restaurant, it's rather loud and bustling even without children.

You'll be fine taking your children. We took our DD who was 15 months in September. Our Server was excellent with her and he brought her out a dish full of goldfish crackers to keep her busy until her dinner arrived. He also didn't charge us for her dessert.

We all had a great time as did she and we didn't feel out of place at all . She is very good and will sit for an 1 1/2 hrs without too many problems and we take her out here at home regularly so it is not out od the ordinary for her.

I think you will have a great time.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We ate there 2 years ago with my then 2 and 4 year old boys... they LOVED it! My older son still to this day talks about the rice krispy sushi platter for dessert!! It was a very kid friendly environment... I felt my children (and there were plenty of others in the restaurant) were very welcome there.

I will say it was a long meal though. My kids are very well behaved in restaurants too... and have been trained from a young age too ;) but still we waited about an hour past our ADRs and then the meal itself was a good 2 hours... so it was a LONG time for them... but they loved the fireworks and observation deck and the food. We had a GREAT time as a family!!

We went with our 2 at ages 1 and 3 and they did just fine. In fact, they loved the meal they had there - the nicest kid's meal I've ever seen! I was worried, but it turned out wonderfully.

We brought our kids (7 and 5 at the time) in March for the first time (been once before with just DH and I) and they loved it. They too are very well behaved whenever we go anywhere. My DD7 had the seared steak and loved it and my DD5 had the mac and cheese that she loved as well. Whenever we go to CG we always make an ADR for 5:30 so we always get a seat by the window looking out over to MK. This entertained the girls the whole time (they loved watching all the attractions and the monorail going while they ate). They loved CG so much that when we asked them where they would like to eat for our upcoming December trip, both said that they want to go to the top of the Contemporary again :goodvibes

Take the kids!

My daughter is now 12 and one of her favorite memories of Disney is CG. We went when she was 7 and her sister was 2. I too was afraid to take the girls because I feared it would be a disaster. California Grill became one of our most loved Disney memories. The hostess gave us a window seat so the girls would have a good view of the fireworks. The childless couples were seated in the back. The children are given crayons to color on the tablecloth ( it was paper). This was the first time they had ever been allowed to color on the table and the waitress brought them a basket of goldfish to eat before dinner. We were having a great time and did not realize the fireworks had started. It was a great dinner and a very memorable evening! Disney is about families even at the California Grill.
