I am wondering if anyone could provide me with a little guidance. I am attempting to add a person to an existing reservation at the California Grill for next Saturday evening (18th). I've been trying for a couple of weeks without success.
My husband and I have been taking my sister and her kids to Disney every year for the past four years. My BIL has never been able to go with us--he has either been stationed in Korea or deployed to Iraq (2 tours). However my BIL recently got special dispensation to take an off-cycle short leave to join us for the end of our upcoming Disney trip. He's flying in from Germany for the last three days of the trip.
I am just wondering if anyone has advice on the best times to try for a cancellation. I am guessing people have multiple ADRs because of free dining, and some stuff might open up as we get closer to the date. I have the ADR for 6 people, but I know the problem is that our party ups to 7 when he is with us--a tough number to seat.
I am NOT just going to go to the restaurant with an oversized party if I am unable to secure him a spot. But, I want to do everything I can to try and make this work. It's been our tradition to have the last meal of the trip at the California Grill--the children really do look forward to it. It's one of the favorite parts of their trip--really. My BIL has heard the stories and seen the pictures of our trips, and I really want him to be able to experience the same magic we've had. He is taking command of a unit that is deploying to Afghanistan after his leave. I want him to have lots of happy memories to think back on!
Thanks.
