It makes sense that
DVC is doing well in CA. It's a new untapped market.
I just wonder if there are some other incentives that are being offered to those that purchase DVC in CA?
From someone going through the process with a California DVC Guide, I can say no. That is, the standard $8 discount on the SSR sales is all that's available. I asked about discounts on
Disneyland APs. They do have those, like at WDW, but it's less of a discount, which is OK, since the cost of a DL AP is less than a WDW AP.
I *really* *really* want a DVC resort out here.
I'm thinking of buying into SSR anyway, but the minute a DL DVC resort came up, I'd sell that and buy out here.
I have made an offer on a smallish (100 pt) contract at VWL to get my foot in the door. I want to partner that with a 175-200 point contract at SSR (mainly for the extra 12 years). But I would really rather have the larger contract out west.
I had saved up most of the money for the VWL contract (I may have to tap into my equtiy line for $1500 or so),
and I feel good about this. So I will likely do the same thing when buying into SSR -- that is, saving as much as I can in the next year. I doubt I can save up enough for 175 pts, so I may even look for another 100 point SSR contract next year, and do the same the year after that.
In any case, if I hear of plans for a California DVC resort in the next year, then I will forgo my SSR plans and just jump on that.
