California Clue?

I really hope its not true. DL has no appeal to me at this point. I want to see AKL, CR, or another WDW site first.
How would it negatively impact you if it is true? I'm sure it would be nice for folks on that side of the country.

It makes sense that DVC is doing well in CA. It's a new untapped market.

I just wonder if there are some other incentives that are being offered to those that purchase DVC in CA?

From someone going through the process with a California DVC Guide, I can say no. That is, the standard $8 discount on the SSR sales is all that's available. I asked about discounts on Disneyland APs. They do have those, like at WDW, but it's less of a discount, which is OK, since the cost of a DL AP is less than a WDW AP.

I *really* *really* want a DVC resort out here.

I'm thinking of buying into SSR anyway, but the minute a DL DVC resort came up, I'd sell that and buy out here.

I have made an offer on a smallish (100 pt) contract at VWL to get my foot in the door. I want to partner that with a 175-200 point contract at SSR (mainly for the extra 12 years). But I would really rather have the larger contract out west.

I had saved up most of the money for the VWL contract (I may have to tap into my equtiy line for $1500 or so),
and I feel good about this. So I will likely do the same thing when buying into SSR -- that is, saving as much as I can in the next year. I doubt I can save up enough for 175 pts, so I may even look for another 100 point SSR contract next year, and do the same the year after that.

In any case, if I hear of plans for a California DVC resort in the next year, then I will forgo my SSR plans and just jump on that.

That's surprising. I would have thought that sales would have been relatively modest until a California DVC location was announced.

gppnj, you're a mouseketeer! All of that practicing must have paid off! :rotfl:

i will believe it when i see it-but i just don't belive it will happen anytime soon.

we california dvc members have been told for years it has'nt been cost effective for disney to consider a disneyland vacation resort. i believe this is even more the case now- property prices out here have continued to climb such that previously "undesirable" central and mid northern california communities are being developed to the hilt and pulling in unnatural prices (we live in what has/is considered "the sticks" and existing home prices have gone up 250-300% in 5 years, a "starter home" is considered a steal at $500,000 plus :earseek:). southern californian property values have always been well above northen california largly because of the lack of land down there. when disneyland managed to buy out the adjacent strawberry fields that were used to do california adventure (and everything beyond the old disneyland hotel and magic kingdom) they basicly bought the only available adjacent land and developed it. unless they plan on tearing down the old disneyland hotel and making a very small number of vacation club units i can't see where they would locate it in any reasonable proximity to the park.

i think any trend in increasing california buyers in dvc is simply because folks out here are not aware of it's existance. dvc information has never been presented at the disneyland parks until very recently. in fact there is the misconception among alot of folks that californians can't buy into dvc (don't know how that ever started :confused3).

i would love a vacation club resort anywhere in the western united states, close to disneyland does'nt so much matter as having a vacation club resort that we could use without a cross country flight.
