So my family is going to Disneyland on Sunday :yay: and I have a question about California Adventure since I have not been there since this section has been added.
I heard there are games like the ones at fairs and carnivals and I'm wondering what kind of money I need to bring for them. Quarters? Dollar bills?

Thanks,

Robin

You actually have to buy a game card to play and as I recall, you can use a credit card or cash. You can add more money to the card when it runs out.

There are machines that turn you cash into a play card. I think it takes debit cards too. You pay so much for so many points that is put onto the card. each game station has a bar code scanner that the player swipes their card through. This will subtract the points that it takes to play that game. I think there are only about 4 games. My son did come away with several stuffed toys including a good sized Dumbo. He put about $40 into it though. He did have fun. :)

Thank you for the answer to my question. :)

Hoping there are only 4 as I don't want to spend all my time playing the games with my 6 year old!

There are not that many games but my daughter also came away with a great size Dumbo. I think we spent about $30 and it appeased her need to win stuff and then we explored some more. Good luck!

I hate carnival games but at least these don't seem as much of a rip off as state fair games. :scared:

Each of my 4 children won a prize so it is atleast possible to walk away with something.

There is a fishing game where you are guaranteed to get a prize every time. There are different colored dots on the bottom of each fish that correspond to the different size prizes. My son loved that game. He won a medium sized stuffed Mickey on the first try (should've stopped while we were ahead). He kept wanting to play it again, but each time only got the small prize (choice of stuffed crab, lobster, or duck).

We went earlier in the day (after lunch-ish) when it wasn't too crowded and played one of those games where you are racing against the others who play. They required 3 players minimum, and we were a party of 3.

The cast member realized that our then 4 year-old DD really wanted to win and that we were all playing to try to help the odds, so he said his "barker" speech to attract other players in less than 10 seconds flat and started the game before anyone else could join us - guaranteeing that someone in our family would win. Mom & Dad did our parts in throwing the game so she got to win the Timothy Mouse plush doll.

Very classy "Disney Magic" that made what could have been a frustrating game zone experience a happy memory instead.

There is a fishing game where everybody wins too. My kids came away with 3 little stuffed animal ducks, a medium sized Woody and 2 of the good sized Dumbos. We had a very creative time packing for the flight home. ;)
