any connections?

was watching the local evening news on tv, and caught a glimpse of news that was on tourism in california. the gist of it is that there's a 3 day conference here that businesses & others are attending that deals with the tourism here in ca. anyways, as i was watching, i noticed in the background a disney booth, and when the camera zoomed in, there it was! a disney cruise line booth! i actually saw the video of the magic/wonder at cc!

anyways...i was so excited! does that mean magic really is coming out this way for summer 2005???!!! hopefully for summer 2005, if not, maybe a ship for the west coast permanently??!! just can't wait! :wave2:

It certainly appears that way and there are many threads in this forum discussing this. Only for one summer though until they possibly build a new ship for us CA folks, I still hope sometime in the future, they start dabbling in Alaska cruises as well. - Mike

:bounce: According to my travel agent (who shall remain nameless), here's the deal for 2005: The Magic is going to sail from WDW to Disneyland in May as part of the 50th anniversary celebration. It will be sailing through the Panama Canal. then
it will stay in California for the whole summer and do Mexican Riviera type cruises. Then in August it will sail back from California to Florida.

My only question was airfare prices since you would have to fly to Orlando but return from California, or vice versa.

Just in case you missed it on one of the other threads about next summer........... they are supposed to announce the schedule by next Wednesday (5/5/04). They are announcing the plans for Disneyland's 50th anniversary at the same time. Hmmmmm..........

I tried (unsuccessfully) to bribe the info out of Donna (DCL Sales manager) last week when we were on the Magic.

I tried to find out from DL exactly where the press anouncement for the 5oth was going to be held and here is what they sent me. - Mike

Dear Mike,

Thank you for your e-mail to the Disneyland Resort.

Announcements are going to be made all throughout the day and at several locations throughout the
Disneyland Resort.

We are sorry but at this time we cannot provide more detailed information.

Again, Mike, thank you for taking the time to write. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit
the Disneyland Resort soon and trust your visit will be pleasant in all regards.

from everything i've read here, so far...it looks like the magic is coming this way for summer 2005. and maybe in the future, they're building a new ship for the west coast! that would be great!

CAMICKEY...don't forget your dr appt at 10!!! and let us know what the "dr" said! hee hee :wave2:

for one way airfare, I was scoping out Summer 2004 as a comparison and was able to find $159 per person one way from Orlando to So Calif, no plane changes (although I think it had 1 or 2 stops).

IT'S A ONCE IN A LIFETIME CRUISE!!!! DCL and the Panama canal. DDs are 14 and 12 now and will be 15 and 13 next summer. We're doing our 4th DCL sailing since 2000 (Dec. 4th 2004 Western) I'll pay the airfare from Chicago to Orlando and then from Caloiforia home. DDs are at that "we would rather stay home than vacation with parents" stage. But what an experience. I'm going!!

Jet Blue for the summer of 2004 one way from Long Beach to New York is $156.00 direct flight no stops! One way from New York to Orlando is $96.00! Definately doable for my hopeful trip on the May repositioning cruise:goodvibes

Hubby keeps begging to go on the Panama Canal cruise, but I just don't see how we could swing the vacation days.
Oh, well, the Mexican Riveria cruise for 4th of July will be nice. :D
The prices I've seen so far are scaring me, but I think we'll bite the bullet because it will be very unique to hop the Magic in California.
