I was just there last Tuesday. We dressed up, but saw many people in regular clothes. I even saw a teenage girl in short- shorts, and a tank. I beleive the dress code says no shorts. I would probably have DH wear pants just in case they decide to enforce the dress code that day. I think you would be fine in a sudress.
The dress code allows "Dress Shorts" So if they are nice it would be ok. Personally, it for me it adds to the experience "dressing up". Head back to your resort , clean up and have him put on some khaki's and his polo or a nice light linen shirt, or pants.
The dress code is a "suggestion" not a rule. The only items not allowed in the restaurant are spelled out at the end of the dress code. So although dress shorts are clearly recommended, the only shorts not allowed seem to be those that might be torn.
Which is why the lady in short-shorts got in, and why those in denim shorts and cargo shorts will also be allowed in.
