Can you guys help here? I know I am a long way from getting a planner, but I need some cake answers.
What cake did you have, and how much a person and how much the handling fee is? I greatly appreciate this.

Thank You

I had chocolate cake with amaretto mousse...it was AMAZING!!!!

For Intimate/Escape brides, there is no charge for the cake but I think I remember seeing that Disney charges something like $7 per piece for cakes. I'm sure one of the Wishes brides can give you more specific information!

There is no exact "price per piece" for the cakes, it depends on the style you choose, fondant or buttercream, and how elaborate the decorations are. If you are a wishes bride, they send you a cd and pricing with your planning packet. I was an intimate, so I didn't get all those, but I know there is a thread on this forum, where someone went to the trouble of uploading a lot of them. Also, if you have a specific cake in mind that you have seen elsewhere, your WP can have the bakery price it for you. Just a warning though....cakes and floral are not cheap. But oh so beautiful and yummy !

I know someone hinted that they were making some changes to the intimate cakes, but I never heard any follow up on what those changes were. Perhaps someone will hop on here and share.

I especially love the castle in the sky and the Happily Ever After cakes. I would prefer not to have fondant, if anyone could give me an idea, please

we were told at our planning that disney doesn't serve the cake with the fondant on it, it is just for show...

I'm not sure that's quite right...

I believe in some cases they take the fondant off, but still serve the same cake.

But I've also heard that Disney's fondant isn't quite the same as "normal" fondant. I've heard it's sweeter and more tasty than regular fondant.

They might use marshmallow fondant but don't quote me on it. I know a lot of places remove the fondant before serving but I can't remember if Disney does or not. Sorry I can't be more help...

I wish I could help. I am waiting for my cd and price list. I should be getting it any day now. If nobody has answered your question by then I will be on here and posting what I find out for you!

PrincessBride had her cake served with the fondant on. I think Disney will leave it on if you want it on, but it will get all mushed up when they cut each slice. The general practice is to take it off before cutting and serving.

You can ask whether the style you want can be made in buttercream instead of fondant - the really elaborate ones can only be made in fondant, but I'm sure Disney will help you find a style that can.

I tried the fondant on our Disney cake and I tried the fondant on a homemade wedding cake a few months later. The Disney fondant tasted like plaster or Playdoh or something - tough, bland, and definitely just for looks - while the homemade fondant was almost like fondant candy. You could actually eat it.

But maybe my cake's fondant tasted that way cuz it was chock full o' magenta and orange food coloring! :rotfl:

I'm sure DISer InTheKnow will be along shortly to fill us in :thumbsup2

Ive tried different fondants. Sometimes with more extravagant cakes the fondant is there just for looks to get the "look" but for a simple cake they sometimes use the yummy marshmellow fondant...just ask your wp

I don't have time to post the whole list, but Castle in the Clouds is made with fondant for $12.50 per person, minimum guest count of 50, as shown it serves 145, and the castle topper is $150 extra.

Happily Ever After is white fondant, $12.50 pp, minimum guest count of 50, as shown it serves 130.

Both Dawrobin and I have heard that Escape brides will have more choices for cakes, but they are working through the details and there is not an exact date to when this will happen. It will probably be the most popular cake choices... just like the flowers are for Escape brides. As an Escape bride, I'm excited, because I feel like I don't have much choice on what is going on. Which is fine, I'm a minimalist, but I would like a better looking cake without having to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars! Anyway, I will keep everyone updated on when the cakes become available to Escape brides, but remember my WP definitely said it was still in the works and not 100% happening yet... so don't get angry if your WP has not told you anything... I asked directly, so I got an answer. All in all it's exciting for us Escape brides...

We had the "Happily Ever After" cake and loved it! We did the white chocolate Cinderella cake topper too. They did a very nice job. Here are some pictures

According to my old paper work which I just tracked down, we were charged $12.50 per piece of cake (we had 42 guests and paid for 50 pieces of cake) so that makes $625 but I don't know if that included the service fee for handing them out or not (the cake topper was $100 - it was the small size castle)
