I just paid $1632 CDN on my reservation. I didn't want to take a chance of it dropping below $0.80.

I should do this too. I have around $1300ish left to pay for Aug trip I’m still hoping to go on if quarantine for fully vax happens.

Worst case scenario it just goes back onto your gift cards if you cancel. Exchange doesn't matter since it fluxes anyways.

There’s also the option to delay the trip and keep current reservation with Disney to save the cost of exchanging money back into CDN funds then back to US later. My understanding is that we lose funds each time we exchange but that could be incorrect..

I started paying for our upcoming trip in Aug 2019 and just move the date as needed. I know we’ll eventually go and it saves exchanging the funds back snd forth since I have them allocated for a Disney trip anyway.

After today's announcement it looks like our trip will be cancelled again. We're supposed to leave Aug 23rd but there's no guarantee anything will change next month. Time to make some decisions....

It actually has to do with multiple things. You can put their Covid response in there as well as the upcoming election however you have to also look at the things going on in government right now. That is a larger part of this. A big thing there is the Afghanistan stuff. That will affect confidence in the US and that drives their dollar to a large part.

It used to drive me insane, an employee I worked with told people who commented on the exchange rate that it had to do with the fact there was a long weekend coming up. He told them it always went up when a long weekend came about because the banks knew people would want it. I don't know if he found this answer easier or just didn't understand why the dollar moved. We were both in the banking system. He was only there a few years and left while I stayed over 30 years. Finance is very interesting and baffling all at the same time. What moves a dollar is, well, everything.
